Having owned both now, I will say that I would have had trouble giving up screen size. The reachability feature truly keeps the Plus as a one handed device. I've used the feature several times today already. Plus the battery life on the Plus is sick.

I was talked out of the 6Plus phablet by friends, so I pre-ordered the 6 Space Gray 128 gig. I really like the 6 with OS 8. Slick interface, fast, easy to use. However, after having gone to the Apple Store Friday night and playing around with the 6Plus, I now regret downsizing. For what I want to do with a phone, I think the extra screen size will be fine. Yes, as a telephone it is huge! But I will be mostly using my phone as an internet device, like Jobs originally described the iPhone. I probably talk 200 minutes a month. The rest of the time I'm browsing, reading articles, email, and the like. Even when I talk, I'm not holding the phone to my ear, but using earbuds or a bluetooth device. Now that I have the 4.7, it is just too small to read articles on news sites. I still have to carry my iPad around at work too. I already ordered the 6Plus. I should have listened to my intuition in the first place.

Can anyone tell me how to get pictures and videos to be viewed in landscape mode. When I turn my iphone6 to landscape pic or video stays in port rate. Help please!

When the iPhone is rotated to landscape, pictures and videos automatically rotate (relative to the phone) so as to keep themselves right side up.

If their orientation looks wrong when you're holding the phone in portrait, then unless the phone's orientation is locked, the pictures will look wrong after you rotate the phone to landscape as well.

An instant, but temporary, fix is to lock the phones orientation first and then rotate the phone.

Alternatively, you can permanently rotate Photos to have a proper orientation using the Photos app. Tap Edit > Tap the Crop-Icon > Tap the Rotate-Button as many times as needed.

You can permanently rotate videos with the help of an app like "Video Rotate Free"

Ramio (from a locked discussion): "Me too. Just came back from the Apple Store just to see the 6 and compare it to my 6 plus so I can make sure I made the right choice. I played with the 6 for at least 5 minutes and compared it with my 6 plus. I left there liking my 6 plus even more. Although I understand why some people would pick the 6 but to me it didn't feel that much of an upgrade than the 5s. Also with the plus, you feel like you have a mini movie theater in your pocket. I didn't get that with the 6. It felt like the 5s in a way. Both are fine phones though but for me the 6 plus is THE one!."

This is exactly where I'm at. Bigger is nice. The 6 is a decent upgrade from the 5s but it's just not big enough for me as long as the 6+ is in the picture. I don't consider the 6+ to be too big because of how I generally use my iPhone.

I got my iPhone 6 yesterday. My reason for getting the iPhone 6 is that I thought the + would be too big. Now I'm thinking the 6 is too big to use comfortably with one hand anyway, so I'm thinking about getting the plus. I guess I'm saying if you're gonna go big, may as well go biggest?

I'm not too worried about pocketability, but I do wear a suit every day, so maybe I'll try to 6 for a week and see if I think I'd like the bigger screen.

Upgraded from a 5. Kind of miss the size of the 5, but definitely appreciate more screen real estate.

It's not always the bigger the better. I used to have a phablet called Galaxy Note 2. As much as I like the size, I also hated the size.

First impressions of the iPhone 6 are very good at last have an 802.11ac device that can utilise my time capsule with its a lot faster when downloading due to faster wifi and the bigger screen I prefer to the 5s screen as easier to web browse and message people on and the camera am very impressed with it's an improvement over my old 5s super sharp images haven't had a chance yet to see 6+ so can't comment on that

You have 2 hands to use the iPhone 6 plus. :)

Battery test between iphone 4, 5, 5s, 6, 6 plus and nexus 5. Pretty interesting results.

I'll get some pictures later, however my first impressions of my iPhone 6 Plus:

This phone is awesome. Its just the perfect size for my larger-then-normal hands. The screen is the best display I have ever seen, I kid you not. The blacks are rich, the colors pop and the clarity is through the roof.

TouchID seems faster and more reliable then my iPhone 5s, however it could also be a thing of iOS 8.

OIS is amazing. I shot a video where I purposely shook the phone and while some of the bigger shakes were still there, it really did smooth out the video. A lot.

One downside is a lot of the scaled up apps look horribly pixilated unfortunately. I hope devs start rolling out updates soon.
I think OIS is only for photos. I'm fairly certain its disabled for videos and videos use the "cinematic stabilization" which is software. (Review pointed this out)

How do the volume buttons feel when you depress them? Squishy? Hard? How is the tactile feedback considering they are covered in leather?

I have the Apple leather case as well and tactile feedback is excellent on my combo. Volume and standy button are still clicky with the case on, I couldn't say that about my 5S leather case...

iPhone 6 First Impressions

Hey All

Just a little thread here from the UK , got my iPhone 6 over the weekend and so far i quite like it , it fees good in the hand and its pretty dam speedy and the screen is lovely , the only thing im going to take a while to get used to is the size of the thing (and this is just the 6, the 6 plus would have been to big) i have quite short stubby hands/fingers and i struggle to reach a few things ...i know we have double tap home now to bring it down but just going to take a little while to get used to it :)

but on the whole good phone so far battery life seems good no getting hot etc so so far so good.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Photos and First Impressions

Received my new Gold iPhone 6 64 for T Mobile USA on the 19th and so far the device has lived up to my expectations.

I have had every iPhone since the original model and this one finally has a screen that I don't have to squint to look at. Being 58 and wearing glasses, I love the bigger screen.

I was going to opt for the 6 Plus, but after trying my brother in laws Note 3 a while back, I knew the device would be too big as my daily driver.

I have had a couple of software glitches on IOS 8, but thats to be expected for a new device and major software release.

So far I am very happy and the they initial price shock of 749.09 + 99.00 for Apple Care plus doesn't even bother me anymore. Worth every dime.

I love my 6+, although it does seem a little "buggy" at times. E.g. the touch screen sometimes freezes for a second or two, I've lost all wifi networks once, and just now it wouldn't regain service until a reboot. I imagine these are all iOS 8 bugs though (I was surprised at how unfinished the GM felt - I guess they had to rush it to get a build ready for the iPhone 6 launch).

The one thing I don't like though is the vibrate motor. Mine is ridiculously loud - and I don't think it's supposed to be like that since, for a brief moment yesterday, it was as quiet as my 5S one. It's almost like there's a screw that could do with a little tightening.

iOS 8 has still a long way to got to be bug free in everday use, you're right. The loud vibration seems to be normal though, at least for the first batches of the 6+. Mine is loud as well. I've been to two different Apple stores (for other reasons) and quickly checked some of the display units: they're the same.
I don't really like it, but it's alright.

Is it me or does the built in speaker on the 6+ not sound as good as the 5S?

I reset my 5S so I can give it to my wife (which means I can't compare right now), but I think maybe making the phone thiner, combining the 3.5mm jack to the bottom module, has compromised the sound profile of the phone.

Sure this is not a big deal, just something stuck in my head.

Not a complaint at all.

What is a phone's sound profile?

5S user here. Went and played with both new models last night in store.

First impressions: 6 felt big, I fumbled it a little trying to reach the opposite corner with my thumb. Side lock button threw me off a lot. Two handed use was fine. I liked the extra width on web browsing but didn't much care for it on general iOS menus.

6+ felt absolutely absurd. It was the phone equivalent of those oversized sunglasses people wear in wedding photo booth pictures as props. I couldn't imagine carrying it around on a daily basis, especially when I put it in my pocket and tried to crouch...I can easily see how people are bending their phones.

BOTH phones didn't strike me as Apple devices on first touch. They honestly felt closer to the HTC One than they did the 5S.

The lasting impression is that both felt much bigger than I was anticipating. I liked the 6 screen size but want there to be way less bezel. I'll have to try them again soon and see what the second attempt is like.

Also, one last funny note: Every single phone in the store was on 5% or less battery life...people were trying them so much that they couldn't keep them on the chargers long enough to catch up.

I was lucky to try both phones the 6 and 6 plus initially I thought 6plus was too big for me but after using the 6 for a day I wanted the plus back. Finally settled on the bigger one it's brilliant like having a small iPad with me and the battery life is amazing
