I think I'll jump in on this. I think the iPhone 6 feels analogous to the Nexus 5. I haven't held them side by side, but honestly the 4.7" is not noticeably different, IMHO. The 6 feels like a higher quality build Nexus 5 in the iOS operating environment.

If you're on the android/iPhone fence, I would seriously wait around for the 2014 Nexus 5 (that appears to be the rumor now) and see if you like it. Either that or wait it out for the 6S.

Also, as goofy as a lot of us thought it was, the double tapping the home button to drop the screen down works and is quite convenient to reach the far corner of the screen.

Yep. The double tap option is crucial.

24 hours with the 6+

1. Is it big? Oh yeah.
2. Is it sometime awkward to pick up/hold securely? Yes
3. Is it heavy? Noticeably heavier than my previous 5, but by no means too heavy.
4. Is it pocketable? Jeans, yes. Coat breast pocket, no.
5. Is the screen as good as the reviews are suggesting? No, its better.
6. Have i got used to it in 24 hours? Yes, completely.
7. Is the battery as good as expected? Yes, not charged it since i got it 24 hours ago (fully charged). Still got 20%.
8. Can it be used with one hand? For me, yes.
9. Do I regret choosing it over the 6? Not one bit.
10. Do i still need my iPad Air? Nope. Not touched it in the last 24 hours.
11. Is it the best phone Apple have ever made? Undoubtedly, by a significant margin.

For me, the plus turned out to be the best option. I was undecided before and after the pre-order. I hardly make any calls, don't travel much and use my phone far more for web, email, gaming etc...which pushed me towards choosing the plus. If calls & portability are your primary needs then definitely go for the 6 as the plus can be a pain to carry around. I've had to tighten my belt to stop it weighing down my fat-ass jeans too much :) If you want to stop switching between iPhone, iPad & Mac then get the 6+ - it really does work well as a single device for my needs.

Got my ip6. I love it! Anxious to receive my case in the mail. I feel like I'm holding a slippery fish that could fly out of my hand any second and crash on the floor ;-)

Just got back from the Apple store. 128Gb iPhone 6 in silver.

First thing I need to say is thank god for no chamfered edges. My phone for the first time since I can remember is flawless.

Absolute thing of beauty. It's light, comfy in the hands and the screen looks amazing. I do believe this is the best iPhone design to date, just beating iPhone 4 slightly. Build quality is superb, feels solid in the hands, no loose buttons.

Need to find me a good case!

I'm waiting for the Apple Watch. I need confirmation that I can run using just that and have the run data sync up to the phone later, so I don't have to run with a phone strapped to my arm. If that's how it works, I'll get the Plus. Otherwise, the vanilla 6.

Tim Cook already confirmed this in one of the interviews. He said that while the :apple:Watch requires an iPhone to work, it can operate independently for specific cases and going on a run was one of the examples given.

I upgraded to the 6 and have yet to play with a 6 Plus, but I can't wait to try it. Having upgraded I have come to one conclusion. While I love the bigger screen and would never want to downgrade back to the smaller screen, I do think Apple had a strong arguement in not increasing the screen size. Having to adjust my hand to touch certain parts of the screen will take some getting used to. Based on majority of the conversations I have with people, it seems like watching videos is not the main priority while using an iPhone or any phone for that matter. I can understand why Apple was hesitant. They probably thought the convenience of using it one handed out-weighed the need for a bigger screen. Im glad Apple increased the screen size, but their initial arguement was valid. Beyond that, this is the best version of the iPhone I've owned, and plan on getting great use out of it.

iPhone 6 64gb Gold:

I'm amazed by how perfect the size is for me. Ever since the phones have been announced I've been thinking about whether or not I made a mistake by not getting the 6+, especially since my phone will be carried from place to place in a purse and I don't have to worry about pockets. I'm going to an Apple Store today so I'm sure I'll hold the 6+ and be a little envious, but I have to say that the 6 fits perfectly in my hand and definitely feels like a huge upgrade from the 5. It's a bit of a stretch to get to the top of the screen, so I can sort of see why Apple has been so hesitant to upgrade to the larger size. It'll take some getting used to that my phone isn't entirely one-handed anymore. The display is just gorgeous and noticeably brighter.

The phone feels amazing in my hand. I love the curved edges and the weight is perfect. I'm extremely happy with the movement of the sleep button, even though it took an hour or so to get used to it. This is my first phone with Touch ID too and I'm still punching in my passcode out of habit. The finish is also beautiful. The gold is slightly more ~gold~ than the champagne of the 5s which is slightly disappointing, but I still love it a lot. Definitely not ugly, looks much better in person. I honestly don't think you can really go wrong with a color this year since they all really do look great in person.

Only downside for me isn't anything to do with the phone itself, it's just that my phone has been restoring from iCloud ever since I activated it and I still can't see any bit of data that could possibly be missing! Maybe it's only ancient iMessages are still being dug up, but I'm wary of stopping the restore in case there's anything important still coming through.

After less than 24 hours with the iPhone 6 my first impression is it's big, and for someone with average size hands is a bit awkward to use with one hand. I'm obviously in the minority but I prefer a 4 inch screen. I kept my 5 just in case I decide this isn't for me.
As for cases I ordered the leather from apple but that was a waste of money. No way would I trust using the phone with that case. Much to slick to hold. Fortunately I picked up the spigen neo hybrid and it's much better.
It's too early to comment about battery life so I'll wait on that.
Bottom line it's a bigger iPhone. Can't imagine using the 6+. But hopefully I'll get used to the 6.

Return it and get an android, so sound very unappreciative

You'll have to excuse me for having an opinion and not just regurgitating the kool aid.

I think the designs of the iPhone generations 3, 4 and 5 were just about perfect - worthy of mounting on a pedestal in a museum. While no doubt there is improved tech in the 6, I don't think the design is quite as good, particularly the back.

I've been using Apple products for over 20 years. I certainly don't want an Android. There is a chance I might return the 6 and get a 5S instead which I think is the best designed phone they have done. I think I prefer the size of the 5S too. The 6 seems just a little too big.

I'll give it a few days and see how it goes - I may well get used to the size - its a big jump from the 4S I had before.

Loving the 6+. It is ridiculously big, but I've gotten used to it very fast. I think the real test will be Monday morning when I transition from weekend playing-with-my-phone mode to actually carrying this thing around trying-to-get-stuff-done mode.

Using mine out in the wild now. Went to Game to see what price I could get on my iPhone 5. The guy said, we'll bring it in when you get your 6 plus then rather sarcastically. He looked a picture when I pulled it out of my pocket. He offered me £50 more than I paid for it. No thanks I said. I'm not usually one to be in others face about what I have, but he deserved it!

Now I am still feeling a bit self conscious with it. Not because of the size but because its new. Think I'll get a more rubbery case as the Spigen one I have, although looks great is s bit slippery. Picked up a invisible shield by Zagg. Will fit it tonight.

Gaming is awesome on it. Such s great size and screen. Highly recommended.

95% of the Apple customer population has been begging for a bigger screen and you are thinking of going back to the 5s lol. I don't agree it is ungreatful or anything but maybe a little "unusual" to say the very least rofl. I would buy a 6" today if they had it lol. It took me all of 0 seconds to get used to the 5.5" screen lol.

I still like the 4 series the best. (I am not putting down anything.)

Think this way. If you needed to go back in time, and you had all the iPhones sitting before you. And you wanted to impress Abraham Lincoln, because that's who you are going to see, which handset will you grab? You have 2 seconds to decide, and what you grab will show how AWESOME the future is. It would have iOS 6/7/8 installed (your choice, because thats what you wanted).

I would grab the iPhone 4s w/iOS 6. Why? because it's almost entirely made of glass, aesthetically speaking. It has Siri, (not that it would work but, we would say it does.) The OS is easy to take in. I think, although a bit more complicated, it's easy on the eyes.

I will split this to a new thread.

6 = fantastic for gaming; T-Mobile fantastic for wifi voice calls

After 24 hours with the phone, I have to say I'm even more impressed than I originally was.

I did some gaming on my 5S, but not much. The screen was limiting versus my iPad 4, so for the most part I didn't bother. The 6 is a different story; I've put 5 hours into Final Fantasy Tactics, and half an hour each into X-Com (great on the Mac, very good on the iPhone 6) and Civilization Revolutions. Zero problems with the screen size - 100% able to get into the gamer trance... no problems at all. Being able to do full-size PC and PS titles on this puppy is simply phenomenal.

An hour ago I did my first wifi voice call, and the quality was unbelievable... literally like having the person on the other end in the room. Very happy with my switch to T-Mobile so far (also, 5x faster than Sprint on download and 3x faster on upload).

I love it but as I explained in another thread. The battery on my iphone 6 is abysmal. Bit concerned as I've not really done much in terms of usage and it's only lasted half a day.

Is it me or does the built in speaker on the 6+ not sound as good as the 5S?

I reset my 5S so I can give it to my wife (which means I can't compare right now), but I think maybe making the phone thiner, combining the 3.5mm jack to the bottom module, has compromised the sound profile of the phone.

Sure this is not a big deal, just something stuck in my head.

Not a complaint at all.

I tried out both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at a Verizon store Friday and was not really impressed by them. The iPhone 6 just feels too big and the silver edge around the front of the phone is too reminiscent of older iPhones for my tastes and seems like a step backwards.

I guess you might get used to the larger size over time but I'm just going to get a 5S for my upgrade since having a larger phone would not be that beneficial to me and just means I'll have to lug around a heavier device with me everywhere I go.

In addition the back of the new iPhone feels less substantial and solid than previous models and the radio bands feel like cheap plastic. Overall I was surprised that the phones were so big, that they have a silver front edge, and that they feel a bit cheaper and more cumbersome than previous iPhones.

It was a big adjustment for me to even leave the 4s and go to the 5s. To be honest I never quite made it. Other than an improved camera, which I did appreciate, I never felt the marginal gain in screen size compensated for the new pain digging into my side that I now felt when pocketing the 5s and the additional tugging I had to do to get it out of my pocket. True pocketability for me ended with the 4s, which I carried for almost three years and felt was the ultimate iPhone form factor.

But I've carried much bigger phones back before iPhone so I'm returning to the old ways I used to carry a phone with me...holsters, clutches, small purses. I'm stuck doing that whether I get the 6 or the 6Plus so I'm going to try the larger of the two first for a better GPS screen experience in my car. My experience of the iPhone won't be what it once was but I'll be putting it to new, more varied uses now.

Good luck to you with your 6. Thank you for your input, I did appreciate your opinions coming from someone else who really appreciated what Apple accomplished in designing the smaller phones, especially 4 and 4s.

The battery is my one "meh," but even then it does seem like a major improvement over the 5S (my subjective experience anyway).

Love the 6+, looks great in the Apple leather case. What I cant stand (coming from Android) is ITunes... what a pain in the ass!!! I forgot how heavy and time consuming that POS program was. 2 computers to sync with? too bad, ITunes must now erase everything on the Iphone to connect the other computer. Want songs on your device? Drag and drop right? Nope. start filling the ITunes library and sync it to your device. Long procedures, bogs down everything. While I missed the Iphone and IOS since my days with the Iphone 4, I cant stand the crap ITunes is forcing on me.

Amazing that you think the 5S is the best designed phone when you had a 4S before.

I have no idea why people like the old sharp boxy phones. This is the best iPhone yet. Hands down. So sleek and thin and round.

What do you need iTunes for? I havent connected my iPhone to iTunes for years.

I can see why that would be cause of concern... Please keep us posted! I'd rather go with the iP6 than the Plus myself, but I want to be able to go a day without charging.
