iPhone 6S 64GB Silver
iOS 9.0 (occurred once)
1) Plugged in overnight to charge. Phone was off before unplugging. Face up. Home button was very warm.
Fix: Reboot.
iOS 9.0.1 (occurred twice)
1) After being disconnected from Mac. Face up. Home button was warm.
2) After getting out of car's and disconnect from car's bluetooth system. Face up. Home button was warm.
Fix: Reboot

All happened once a day for 3 days straight. On second occasion, I took it into Apple store. They looked at some log and claimed that it was not a hardware failure and suggested that I reset the phone and do a clean install. I did that and it shut down again the next day. I took it in again after the 3 occurrences and received a replacement. The replacement has been fine on both iOS 9.0 & 9.0.2 so far. (4 days)

iPhone 6s Plus SG 64 GB
iOS 9.1 Beta 3

1) Plugged it in last night before bed.
2) Woke up took it off charger used finger for Touch ID; screen would not turn on; Home Button was super hot.
3) Forced a restart. All is good now. Haven't had it happen since early this morning .

Same experience yesterday morning. iPhone 6s Plus running 9.1. 100% charge, i had just arrived at work and found it off. Had to do a hard boot similar to what is described here.

9.0.2 6s 128 Gold FWIW.
Was leaving a message, pulled the phone from the side of my head to end the call and noticed the screen was off. The only clue I had that the phone was on was by toggling the vibrate button - otherwise it was completely unresponsive. Power + Homebutton reset was the cure.

Rose Gold iPhone 6s running IOS 9.0.1.

The screen was off, and the phone rang. The screen remained dark, but the ringing kept going, but couldn't be answered. The home button was EXTREMELY hot, and the only way to get the screen back on was to hard boot it (home and power buttons)

It was very worrisome just how hot the home button was. It stayed that way until the hard reset. It hasn't happened since, but keeping my eye on it.

Same thing happened to me. Phone was ringing but screen remained dark. However, pressing the sleep/wake button woke the phone up and it functioned normally.

For the sake of the results, I have not had the phone become unresponsive just being idle. Only the screen not turning on during an incoming phone call.

I swear I've had it with these "gates" - this is unacceptable. If I messed up this much at work time and time again I'd be fired. I do have the 6s+ and I am running 9.0.2 and this has not happened to me yet but I've been through all the gates and I'm sick of it....if my phone shuts off by it's self then I'm getting the galaxy edge plus - period.

Sorry, I just had to vent

This happened to my wife's 6s.

Similar thing happened to my 6s, not sure if it's related: the screen froze while it was on. No amount of touching/swiping would get it to come alive. Hard reset was required.

When this happened to me, my home button got very hot, too. Mine would not respond to a hard reboot, though.

Happened to me last night. Phone was plugged in using an Anker cable, and when I woke up this morning my alarm hadn't gone off and the phone wasn't responding. Finally managed to wake it up with a combination of holding power+home and just power. I've had the phone since launch day and this is the first time it's happened.

Hey guys, I am gathering your issues into a spreadsheet and sending it to Apple's engineering team. Please keep posting.
Thanks for keeping track!
Just happened to me this morning for the 1st time. It had been on do not disturb and charging overnight. Would not wake up, held both buttons down and it restarted. I've had it since launch day. IPhone 6s Plus 64GB running 9.0.2.

1. iPhone 6S 64 GB Gold, iOS 9.01, idle state
2. Restored from backup
3. Restored through iTunes (from an iPhone 6)
4. None
5. None

This happened two nights ago overnight, I upgraded to 9.02 yesterday.

This has every earmark of a software issue. It seems like the phones are actually NOT turning off. Instead, the screens are off and won't turn back on. My guess is that iOS is getting confused (for example, the listener for the buttons was not reset, or maybe the listener is set to turn off the screen like what happens when the screen is already on). Whatever the case, I'd be very, very surprised if this wasn't a software bug.

happened to me two nights in a row.
Since the update to 9.02, it didn't happen so far to my phone again, but I also close all apps in the evening before I go to sleep

1. iPhone 6s Plus 64GB running 9.1 version 2 public beta - Plugged in before I went to bed.
2. restored from a backup.
3. restored through iCloud.
4. Not sure how to find this info.
5. Not sure about heat as it happened overnight while I was asleep.

Very frustrating... I rely on my phone for my alarm clock, and was 2 hours late to work this morning since the phone had shut off and my alarm never went off!

Apple should issue a disclaimer in the meantime that you should not use the alarm clock or use the iphone for any on call work related functions are any satiations where you are depended upon by other people. I have not had to use an alarm clock in years. I have not exp this issue but may by one just in case. Lame.

5. No
Other Notes: This happened two days in a row, once I installed the beta profile (already on 9.1b2). Then when I updated to b3. I quit all apps and restarted after this happened. It did not happen the next night.

1. iPhone 6S+ 64 GB Space Grey, iOS 9.0.2, idle state
2. Restored through iCloud
3. None
4. None

Had it on the charger overnight, alarm went off at 0730 like normal, and then phone just died. Has to do a hard reboot. Have no reason why. My iPhone 6 never had this problem with IOS8.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus running 9.0.1. As I am typing this now, it is doing something I think is possibly related to the iPhone 6Ses shutting off. It is randomly turning itself from Silent to full volume, and then back to silent again. Mind you, the silent switch is off. It was doing this ever since the upgrade to 9.0.1.

Happened to me once on my iPhone 6 on 9.0.1. Hasn't happened on 9.0.2 yet. Don't think it's a 6s issue, seems to be related to iOS 9.

iPhone 6s +
9.0.2
Unlocked T Mobile running on Verizon

Had to change my vote as this happened to me for the first time today.
Phone began to ring and vibrate. I could not answer it due to the screen being black and unresponsive. Only way to cure it was to do a hard reset which took almost a minute for the fix.
