even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.
Not making any sort of statement about how you might have abused or not abused this phone, but you do realize the softer aluminium would be LESS likely to chip, not more.
even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.
I have contacted apple and they claimed it is an enclosure ware issue caused by the phone case and asked me to do a refund. When I told them it was by spigen, they said that it may be because the spigen cases are not well made and that they recommend me to purchase an apple phone case. I am currently contacting Spigen as Apple has also pushed the blame to spigen.
Aluminium on my 6s Plus has been chipping on its own especially at the edges. It's appearing at the bottom of my phone all along the antenna band and now it's appearing at the top. It's also appearing around my pentalobe screw holes, lightning port and headphone jack.
I seriously think it's a manufacturing issue. Some problem with the 7000 series aluminium that's causing the edges of the aluminium to be very very easily chipped. I used my phone with a cover since Day 1 and yet this happened. I used my 6 Plus pretty much naked for the whole year and yet it hasn't chipped even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.
Do any of you have this issue?

Yes, for us who has this problem it is weird too, and very frustrating. It's like we were very unlucky that we got these defective phones. Or whatever you wanna call it.This is weird, i've never noticed this on any 6 or 6s i've had

So, what are you trying to say? My previous iPhone's didn't had this problem. Years passed but those phones are still smooth. And this 6s is only 2-3 months old.i would not say that. i use my phone as much as anyone else. and i always put it on a desk or in my pocket with nothing else in the pocket. I've had no problems and i live in south florida where its humid . and i actually just took my really slim .03mm case off and looked and theres no chipping.
mine is 2 weeks old.So, what are you trying to say? My previous iPhone's didn't had this problem. Years passed but those phones are still smooth. And this 6s is only 2-3 months old.
Well, good for you that you don't have this problem, yet. Mine started corroding/chipping after a month of use.mine is 2 weeks old.
Don't even bother to contact Apple. I went to the Apple Store in Las Vegas for a booked apoointment. The genius guy did some test and then said he can't replace it just because of cosmetic issues.[doublepost=1463666348][/doublepost]

Same problem here with iPhone 6s Space Gray. I'm from Philippines. A Senior Advisor is already taking care of this issue, but it's almost a month now and I still don't have a clear update on what to expect from them. Upon reading this thread, I'm a bit glad that It's not only me who has this problem. My phone is getting worse everyday, those corrosion and chipping(or whatever they call that) at the side is very unusual, it's like they're magically appearing. I've been taking very good care of this phone.
I'm using a protective case since day 1. I even tried to use this phone w/o any case for 1-2 weeks but those corrosions still magically appears. The senior advisor who is handling my case told me that their back-end team evaluated this issue and they are blaming it on cases that we use. A friend of mine also has this issue, she uses Apple protective case but corrosions and chipping still appears! So, can they blame their own product that causes problem to their phones?!Do you think a case would help?
Sorry to hear that. So they really wont replace "some" of their poorly manufactured products. I wasted my time contacting them. The senior advisor even told me not to worry. A big LOLDon't even bother to contact Apple. I went to the Apple Store in Las Vegas for a booked apoointment. The genius guy did some test and then said he can't replace it just because of cosmetic issues.
I was in the process of requesting for a replacement while I was posting this thread. And as of now they have approved of my replacement. I reside in Singapore and it isn't easy to get in touch with Apple over here as we have no official Apple Store with a Genius Bar. And also because I'm out of the 14 days exchange policy, it took longer than usual to escalate my case and get a replacement. Took me 2 hours of phone calls plus 2 emails in fact.
And to the guy who said I mishandle my phone, I sure as hell didn't. I treat my 6s Plus like how I treat my 6 Plus. No keys or any hard objects are in my pocket other than my phone ONLY. And my 6 Plus was naked for most part of its 1 year time with me while this 6s Plus was put into a cover since Day 1. Yet my 1yo 6 Plus was in a better shape than my 18 days old 6s Plus. So STOP telling me it's my fault because it surely isn't. Thanks.
It is certainly chipping because I brought it to an Authorised Apple Service Provider and the technician there put it under a microscope and told me it isn't corrosion (my suspicion previously) and told me its chipping of the aluminium.
That's the reason why I'm posting this thread to see if it's just me only or there are more cases of this issue.
