I have contacted apple and they claimed it is an enclosure ware issue caused by the phone case and asked me to do a refund. When I told them it was by spigen, they said that it may be because the spigen cases are not well made and that they recommend me to purchase an apple phone case. I am currently contacting Spigen as Apple has also pushed the blame to spigen.

I have the same problem. When I asked about it at Apple Service Center in SM North EDSA here in the philippines, they gave me the Apple Care Hotline numbers that will connect me to apple singapore service center because when it comes to cosmetic issues, the ASC of singapore will be the one who will decide if I am going to leave it and they will (maybe) replace it at the ASC here in the philippines.

My Spigen case wears fine, no issues for the last three months. Of course I have the Gold iPhone 6s

Aluminium on my 6s Plus has been chipping on its own especially at the edges. It's appearing at the bottom of my phone all along the antenna band and now it's appearing at the top. It's also appearing around my pentalobe screw holes, lightning port and headphone jack.

I seriously think it's a manufacturing issue. Some problem with the 7000 series aluminium that's causing the edges of the aluminium to be very very easily chipped. I used my phone with a cover since Day 1 and yet this happened. I used my 6 Plus pretty much naked for the whole year and yet it hasn't chipped even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.

Do any of you have this issue?

I have an iPhone 6S Plus as well. I live in South America, but I bought the phone from Apple online, just like you. I asked a friend to bring it to me, since he lives in the U.S, and he was coming to my country to visit. He brought it in the box, with the plastic around it and everything, just as if I had bought it brand new from an Apple store. I open it, and the aluminium is in pristine condition. However, in my second day with the iPhone, I noticed a small formation, coming out of the antenna bands. It kept growing, growing and getting bigger and longer. This is my argument to believe it is corrosion. Another argument would be the fact that 7000 aluminium has a very high tendency to corrode, as said by many sources in the internet. I have owned the phone for 5 months now, and I am travelling to the U.S shortly, for vacation, as it is only now that I can go. I plan on giving the phone for replacement, as it is still on warranty. I have never dropped the phone, and it is inside a Speck Mightyshell, which I bought after the formations began building up. Mine is much worse than yours, since it is chipping, and, I believe, corroding as well. Here go some pictures.

I have the same problem with my Iphone. I'm from the Philippines so i know how hard to contact an Apple Store. Well to my Fellow Filipinos, i went to Marquee Mall Pampanga( it is where the nearest apple store/ASSP from my Location) and show them the problem of my Iphone(coating chipping off). They said that they will going to get my phone for further inspection(it will be 5-7 days long after you will get the result). Fortunately they will going to replace my Iphone but it will be a month before i get my replacement phone but it's ok. So guys i recommend to go to Any Switch store(which is one of the ASSP/Apple Reseller here in the philippines). I haven't get my Iphone And yes I'm still waiting for it

Same problem here with iPhone 6s Space Gray. I'm from Philippines. A Senior Advisor is already taking care of this issue, but it's almost a month now and I still don't have a clear update on what to expect from them. Upon reading this thread, I'm a bit glad that It's not only me who has this problem. My phone is getting worse everyday, those corrosion and chipping(or whatever they call that) at the side is very unusual, it's like they're magically appearing. I've been taking very good care of this phone.

This is weird, i've never noticed this on any 6 or 6s i've had
Yes, for us who has this problem it is weird too, and very frustrating. It's like we were very unlucky that we got these defective phones. Or whatever you wanna call it.

i would not say that. i use my phone as much as anyone else. and i always put it on a desk or in my pocket with nothing else in the pocket. I've had no problems and i live in south florida where its humid . and i actually just took my really slim .03mm case off and looked and theres no chipping.

So, what are you trying to say? My previous iPhone's didn't had this problem. Years passed but those phones are still smooth. And this 6s is only 2-3 months old.

I have this kind of issue too :( But I only noticed it after 4 months. I'm in the Philippines but my iphone 6s plus was bought in Singapore. May I know who to contact?

oh my! same phone, same problem :( Got mine last December 2015. I thought it was all dirt at first but then realized its corrosion. I'am in the Philippines but I bought the phone in Singapore. Don't know who to contact :(
Don't even bother to contact Apple. I went to the Apple Store in Las Vegas for a booked apoointment. The genius guy did some test and then said he can't replace it just because of cosmetic issues.

Do you think a case would help?

I'm using a protective case since day 1. I even tried to use this phone w/o any case for 1-2 weeks but those corrosions still magically appears. The senior advisor who is handling my case told me that their back-end team evaluated this issue and they are blaming it on cases that we use. A friend of mine also has this issue, she uses Apple protective case but corrosions and chipping still appears! So, can they blame their own product that causes problem to their phones?!
I'm losing my patience here. They cant, and wont admit that they have some poorly manufactured iPhone 6s! You know what they offered me? They will replace the phone for half of the original price, and then what? The replacement phone will have the same issue just like the TS? NO THANKS! F*ck them. They care only for money. I want to throw this phone on their faces.

Sorry to hear that. So they really wont replace "some" of their poorly manufactured products. I wasted my time contacting them. The senior advisor even told me not to worry. A big LOL

this is a bumming breezing through this thread :(

have dust in top left of my screen but dont always see it (my model is one that was made around when the 6s plus was released, can't remember build week but an early one), but some of these look like they've swam at the bottom of the ocean for a while

yikes, glad I dodged a bullet on this one,

SG 6s plus

Just today I was planning to buy i6s plus and ipad pro. Reading this thread and numerous others I found while googling has stopped me from going ahead with the purchase. Is there anyone facing such issues with ipads?

I was in the process of requesting for a replacement while I was posting this thread. And as of now they have approved of my replacement. I reside in Singapore and it isn't easy to get in touch with Apple over here as we have no official Apple Store with a Genius Bar. And also because I'm out of the 14 days exchange policy, it took longer than usual to escalate my case and get a replacement. Took me 2 hours of phone calls plus 2 emails in fact.

And to the guy who said I mishandle my phone, I sure as hell didn't. I treat my 6s Plus like how I treat my 6 Plus. No keys or any hard objects are in my pocket other than my phone ONLY. And my 6 Plus was naked for most part of its 1 year time with me while this 6s Plus was put into a cover since Day 1. Yet my 1yo 6 Plus was in a better shape than my 18 days old 6s Plus. So STOP telling me it's my fault because it surely isn't. Thanks.

It is certainly chipping because I brought it to an Authorised Apple Service Provider and the technician there put it under a microscope and told me it isn't corrosion (my suspicion previously) and told me its chipping of the aluminium.

That's the reason why I'm posting this thread to see if it's just me only or there are more cases of this issue.

hi may i know how did you contact apple regarding this issue ? I am also facing this problem now , just that i have even more paint peeling of even on the back of the phone. Unlike you , I have had my phone for about half a year. Initially , small paint came off at the sides and I could still tolerate it , but as time went , until now, the problem just keeps getting worse. I am really annoyed and upset with the phone and would hope to get a replacement ( im also in SG ) . May I know how to go about approaching this problem ?

[ My phone was in a case since day 1 as well , I even thought it might be my case's problem and changed 4 casings but the problem doesnt get better ]

Hi, It's just now that Apple has actually responded to my request to a replacement and they told me that cosmetic damages is not covered by apple care warranty.
So that's it? I will just have to deal with my deteriorating phone? How could this possibly be avoided and how is this my fault? I am really disappointed.
