But how would it sim lock after you put a sim in? Is that even possible that a provider like o2 could lock a phone that you haven't brought from them

I'm 99.9% sure iPhones don't work like that. They're locked at a network level before you even put your sim in. If companies sell unlocked, they'll be unlocked.

I buy all my iPhones unlocked from Apple... I've switched mobile providers while keeping the same phone a few times and never had a problem.

I don't know about the rules now, but I bought from CPW before and it locked to the first network I put in, had to pay to have it unlocked.

We talk about this every iPhone launch! CPW sell 'unlocked' but they (and possibly others) lock to the first SIM card you put in there. It's not truly 'unlocked'.
Apple are truly unlocked and people have also said that John Lewis are. Jury is still out (I think?) on very.co.uk
:)

I always buy from Apple or direct from networks, so sorry for the duff info guys!

Update on the Orzly cases, seems as though the code is one per customer. I just used another account to get another case at half price. Now I have got two cases on order to see which I prefer.

Just realised that the EE upgrade tariff I selected online doesn't allow to upgrade after 12 months. Might see if I can change but will likely need to pay £99 upfront instead of £49 so now thinking I will hold out until I can get a Jet Black plus direct from Apple - ideally on the upgrade programme.
