Purchased an iPhone Matte Black 7+ 128GB with confirmation email at 08:15. Anybody with delivery date 04 Oct to 10 Oct have their date moved forward?

Probably, O2 too, but it's just a pain and not what you pay for.
Well technically if it's written in their terms and conditions and you buy it knowing this, then you do get what you pay for. :)

I got caught out many years ago. My phone insurance seemed to be tied to CPW so when I got a replacement for a damaged phone, it was CPW who provided it and it locked to my SIM even though I originally bought the handset from apple.

I then sold the phone not realising this and then it became a palava getting vodafone to unlock it without me even bring in possession of the phone.

So signing in a three or o2 SIM, if only just to unlock the handset, it might save you hassle later on

On a different note how come you can't reserve the watches for pickup in store. It only lets you order online for delivery October now. It's says the watches will be available in some stores from 16th
It's annoying isn't it. Personally I'm going to be trying to get a ceramic watch at the Selfridges Apple Watch outlet. Unfortunately they're selling iPhones there these days too so no doubt it'll be manic.

I reserved a series 1 for Friday. Not sure if series 2 was available at that time for reservation or not.
Only the series 1 is available for in-store pickup.

Three UK have sold their phones without a Network Latch for some time (possibly January 2014) and o2 offer free Unlocking to PAYM customers FOC but PAYG customers need £15 credit applied to their account first.

Am hoping o2 will provide further details in the next couple of days now; not impatient but would like to receive my phone so I can set up the PAC and send off my old iPhone to Music Magpie before it's too late and I miss out on my quoted price from last week.

So there are still reservations left for the 256gb plus in gold and rose gold for launch day pick up at my local apple stores. However it's going through the iPhone upgrade reservation link, which I'm not wanting to do. I'm wanting to pay outright. I really want the black but I currently do not have a phone at all as I sold my 6s plus yesterday. I do have a black (matte) one on pre order with a 27-29th deliver window.

Do you think they will allow me to just pay outright for the phone instead when in store? Surely a sale is a sale?

Also as a side thought, there will be people who do not pass the credit check for the phones on the Apple upgrade program (its Barclays who are ****s when it comes to passing credit checks) will this stock be released to walk ins do you think??

You can do this, someone on AVforums called up and Apple confirmed this. Seems it's gonna be a loophole for people who don't want to pre order and pay upfront but pay in store.

True, but how many people actually read the terms and conditions when keen on getting a phone for launch day? Look at all the posts here for an example... If they market it as "unlocked", it should be unlocked.

CPW have been this way for a number of years and that's why these forums are great for the uninformed

I have to say theres one thing i'll be checking this time round, when i started my last (first) contract with the iPhone 6 Plus 128GB when i got it in October the mute switch on the side was very buggy where if you touched it would mute then go back to ring, so i'll be checking that out, it took me a long time to get the iPhone 6 Plus after the Phones4U disaster

Good to know, If my web pre order doesn't move on tues/wed ill go to get my reservation on friday. Might also ask if any black ones have failed the credit check and see if i can get one of those instead. Wife is due upgrade ends of October so i could always get my black one then and give her the gold one.

I *think* CPW market theirs as 'SIM Free', as opposed to 'unlocked' and this is where the confusion begins.

In CPW's eyes, it's sold 'without a SIM Lock', even though for some inexplicable reason it locks to the first one you put in.

There should really only be 2 types of iPhones; locked to the network you bought it on, or inlocked forever from day 1.

CPW's offering is simply *****.

Having said that, I've always felt that phones purchased on a contract should also be unlocked-why should the networks care whose SIM you put in, as long as your paying them the contracted £xx per month??

Their justification is that it's without a sim so you can put any sim in it when it's sold. Thus 'sim free'. It's crafty and dickish.

I've long thought phone locking should be outlawed for being fundamentally anti-competitive.

One of the main counter arguments is that it assists the networks in dealing with people who default on their phone contract.

If payments stop after a couple of months, an unlocked phone could just go AWOL and never be seen again, and be impossible to recover.

By limiting it to its issuing network the carrier has some control and information over unpaid phones.

In practice of course this doesn't work because of the many unofficial unlocks you can buy online.

Like DRM, it serves to harm the honest consumer, and is useless for its intended purpose.

In summary: anti-competitive, anti-consumer, and ineffective. Three did the right thing by getting rid of it.

Cos the networks don't just care about your monthly payments. They are always hoping you go over your allocation so they can charge you more or charge you roaming fees should you go abroad. Change to another network and you close down that potential revenue stream for them.

Thanks, I was only pointed out what I said maybe because you made the wrong order and to brought it to your attention, It is nice, i have the all clear version, not with the black side.

Yea thank you for that! Do these cases get that yellowing over time that tends to happen with clear cases? At that price even if it does I might just buy another one.

I agree 100%, for most people sim-free and unlocked are interchangeable terms and CPW have exploited that, deliberately misleading customers.
