I just got a call from Apple (Cork, Ireland number)

They wanted to confirm my order before processing it. Initially I thought it was an odd call at first, he clarified that anything over 2K he calls them to confirm the order.

My order was 2x iPhone 7 plus 256 Black with apple care.

Did anyone else receive a call today?

Mine was a little odder in that I got a call from Apple in Austin TX, it's the first time I've ever ordered 2 iPhones in one hit (always been just the one on launch), so maybe checking for strange activity. As soon as I put the phone down my card got charged and went to preparing for dispatch shortly after.

Quick question please. I've sold my iPhone 6s Plus and the bloke is coming round to buy in about an hour. Apart from wiping the iPhone clean is there anything else I should do? Also, he's paying via PayPal, anything there I need to be aware of? Thanks.
It's a much better idea to have someone pay cash if they're collecting. There are numerous examples of people paying via Paypal, collecting the goods in person and then later raising a case with Paypal stating that the item was never delivered.

You definitely need to get them to sign something to say it was collected and even better, get the person to agree to having their picture taken with the item at your place, even though it might feel awkward.

My brother in law was scammed by someone doing exactly this. PayPal don't protect you unless you post to a verified address. It may be they have hacked someone else's PayPal account and the payment will be reversed after a few days. Happened to my BIL and he had to pay the money back. Cash is King.

Got my pre-order in on Friday morning, got my confirmation email through at 8:17

iPhone 7 Plus - Black - 32GB
Dispatches: 6-8 business days
Delivery: 27 Sep - 29 Sep by Standard Shipping

Not a bad delivery time considering I couldn't get onto the Apple Online Store until about 8:15 despite frantically refreshing the page.
Might try and see if I can reserve the same model for pick-up next Saturdays morning, I don't particularly want to wait till the end of the month if I don't have to.

Will be nice to get back onto an iPhone after a (regretful) year without one. (What was I thinking?!)
Same phone, colour and size and same delivery dates! Hoping for a bump up in delivery day or a surprise arrival on Friday.

My order is still in Processing, with a delivery estimate of the 27th-29th of September, hoping that it gets pulled forward to the 20th-22nd slot at least, very much doubt a Release day/Saturday delivery will happen

I have a feeling early orders (pre 8:10 confirmation sort of early) might see it on launch. With all these orders getting pulled forward to the 20th already, they only have to be pulled forward another 4 days and then that's a launch day delivery. I'd say that's plausible

I reserved through the upgrade programme but with the intention of paying upfront in store during my 15 minute "slot". So I didn't select instore pick up - which is different and will mean your card is charged pre 16th just like it would be if the phone was being delivered to your home address.
I have confirmed with Apple that you can pay up front in store rather than join the upgrade programme.
The only way to reserve rather than pay up front is / was through the upgrage programme link - which opened a new window.

My brother works at the Covent Garden store and he said that the reservations are for upgrade program only and they will send people away if they decide to just pay up front in the day.

Which makes sense. There are already many frustrated upgrade program people that couldn't get a reservation due to them going so quick, it's a slap in the face to them for people that try and loophole the system.

The system uses the same stock for paid-online pickup or iPP, so that doesn't really make sense. Just imagine if you fail the credit check, they're not gunna stop you paying outright for the phone if you wanted.

Thanks. Might be too late now. The guys off AV Forums and has 100% feedback so hopefully that stands for something.

If anyone doesn't turn up or if they decide not to go iUP then the phone goes into the next day stock allocation.

Ah, you should be fine then if he's bought from others before you.

I can't see why not, and I have already ordered 6+ screen protectors form Anker, since no 7+ ones were listed when I bought them. So let's hope!

I've done the same. Amazon has a pack of 2 Anker 6 Plus glass screen protectors for 7.99. They aren't edge to edge but I'm not sure how well the edge to edge ones would work with a case.

Apple has confirmed that they've taken £1 from my credit card as an authorisation placeholder. As I couldn't see this on my online banking, I decided to call the bank (HSBC). which they also couldn't see the £1...

Anyone also experiencing this discrepancy? :S

Just ordered an Apple Watch 2 for delivery October which is fine by me. Problem is I hope it doesn't get brought forward to the next few weeks because I won't have the cash in my account until 22nd September. Is there a chance it might if someone cancels etc?

Whilst that would make sense in the US as they had the upgrade program last year, and people could not get their yearly upgrade, this is the first year the U.K. have this. I have worked in 2 apple stores in the past and all they really care about is how many they can sell and how much revenue they make. I doubt they will be turning paying customers away when they have targets to hit (managers that is)

Same thing happened to my John Lewis credit card. I've been assured everything is fine.

I'll still try and get the phone a bit earlier by going John Lewis or Krcs in Nottingham early Monday morning.

Yea and Anker have a single 7 plus one for about £7.99, such a rip off! (Assuming we are right and the 6 Plus ones fitting the 7 Plus) and with my current case, the Spigen hybrid, the Anker screen protector on my 6 Plus is a perfect fit in terms of width

I also received a call from Apple in Cork, Ireland. Also ordered two iPhones.
He told me that after the call, he would go on and process the order, and that I would receive an email.
Still waiting for that email...

You got ripped off, I got £299.25 for my standard S7 from envirofone, I have sold 4+ phones to them recently.
I'm not sending my phone away to any recycling sites again as I just sent my S7 edge in last week and it came back with a smashed screen! It's £300 on mazuma right now for trade in so I got exactly the same as I would have got from mazuma.

Interesting. Not what I was told by Apple, which was that you can pay upfront, but time will tell I suppose.
There's nothing in the Reservation terms and conditions to suggest you can't pay upfront,I would just refer them to that if there were any issues. As others have said I can't really see them turning down sales.
