On a different note how come you can't reserve the watches for pickup in store. It only lets you order online for delivery October now. It's says the watches will be available in some stores from 16th

I preordered my watch straight after I preordered my phone and although there was an option to pick up the watch in store it wasn't possible to actually choose it which is annoying as I was hoping to pick up both at the same time. I rather have picked up the watch then have it delivered.

Mine was a little odder in that I got a call from Apple in Austin TX, it's the first time I've ever ordered 2 iPhones in one hit (always been just the one on launch), so maybe checking for strange activity. As soon as I put the phone down my card got charged and went to preparing for dispatch shortly after.

That's Interesting. Mine is still processing with 20-22 as delivery date.

What's yours?

Mine came yesterday. Very happy with it.

Still waiting for mine to arrive. My order on Amazon says they will arrive between the 13th and 17th although they have already dispatched as of Friday so hopefully I will have them Monday or Tuersday. I've also ordered a Ringke case and an Orzly case.

bit of a long shot but I've ordered to apple store to collect an iPhone 7+. I was wanting to take my current iPhone 6 (64gb) and trade it in with apple when i collect. However looks like apple will be taking the payment when the phone ships to the store (metro centre)2 days before the friday 16th collect. it says you get a gift card if you trade in but id like the money to go towards the new 7+. You think the store might credit my bank account rather than a gift card.
worse case i can go to cex or game and trade in just rather do it all in the apple store keep it nice and easy

I've put my SE up for sale on eBay - I've done this with every phone i've sold and have never had an issue. CEX are saying they'll buy a phone like mine for £205 and sell for £355, so I think its a no-brainer to go for eBay, even with their fees.

There are a lot of scammers on eBay and because eBay and PayPal heavily favour the buyer in a dispute you run the risk of losing both the phone and the money you were given for it. For that reason I've taken less money from CEX instead in the past.

I had some fun with data this afternoon and built a timeline for each Apple Store showing reservable/pick-up-able stock:

Here's an example of what SouthGate, Bath looks like:

Wondering...opinions please....wanting a 7+ plus 128Gb black. I can wait a bit if don't get straight away. I'm probably going to get the next iPhone if it's what is rumoured to be a big update, would normally wait/skip. So.....

Buy outright stay on my SIMO £25/month, order is in says 27-29 Sep; £819

Go the Apple upgrade program £45/month

Go EE max I get a discount so is £99 upfront and be £55/month, allows upgrade phone on same or more tariff after 12 months a new 24 month contract.

Unsure what to do. Don't like the long commitment of 24 months but suppose could be ok. Not sure on trade in after 12 months on EE also as says good cosmetic condition. Very ambiguous.

So comments please!!
With all the maths I've done it's all swings and roundabouts with phones and tariffs and ends up being about the same for the phone cost and airtime.

From years of being on contracts I've decided personally think the best way is to buy a phone outright and chose a SIM only 12 months plan. Selling the phone a year later will cover a large proportion of your upgrade next year.

It's all about if you can stump up one payment or not. Otherwise a 0% credit card and split the payments into 12 and make sure you pay each month.

The following is a fairly comprehensive and up to date guide on the subject of whether iPhones will be locked or not taken from the article linked last night by Jack1998:

They still want to have good sales on day one, it affects how much stock they will get moving forwards. If they don't sell, the phones will get shipped to other stores that will appear to have a higher demand. Now for a store like covent garden this may not be an issue as that store is a flagship and will easily sell 2x-3x the smaller stores.

It will be down to manager descretion. However I have just received word from a friend who still works at one of the stores I worked at saying your not committed to IUP and you can pay by card.

The way you talk, makes it like there's going to be hundreds of people doing the iUP reservation then buying full price, it's more like a handful, which makes little difference to the launch day figures.

The ruling of not allowing people to switch form iUP to paying full price was rolled out today, so your friend may be on old news.

So NO Jet Blacks at all and no Black Pluses either :-(
Nope! Admittedly, I didn't expect Apple to expose the JSON they are this year (as they didn't last year for the iPhone 6S, but did for the 5S and 6) so I wasn't logging the data for the first 28 minutes. I know for sure there are some black models around, and even a few stores had jet black non-plus iPhones - but they were all gone before I started logging :(

You got ripped off, I got £299.25 for my standard S7 from envirofone, I have sold 4+ phones to them recently.
CEX are always hard to get 'top dollar' from but sometimes the delight at selling quickly and without hassle far outweighs the extra £££

So, from that, the Oracle, Reading, never had stock of the 128Gb 7Plus in black? (Not jet black)??

Ahh that makes more sense, that you're missing the first 28 minutes.

Nice. At least it's due on release day.

Thanks.

Now I just need to figure out how to go from my current phone and watch to the new phone and watch. I'm thinking that I should set up my new phone using restore from back up. Unpair my current watch from my current phone and then pair it with the new phone. When the new watch comes which I'll probably have to pick up the following Monday from the courier depot I should unpair my old watch from the new phone and then pair the new watch with the new phone. I'm hoping that's the best way to do it.

What I did is upgrade to a non Apple phone (got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge) before the keynote, day before the keynote I locked in a price for my 6s+ from a recycle company. Once the pre order was in the bag I sold the s7 edge and sent off my 6s+ before the cut off from recycle company. I am actually making £80 from the whole thing and to make it even better I'm on a much cheaper contract than I would have been if it where to upgrade to an iPhone on launch. Got the Samsung for free on a £41pm contract, not a chance I'd get anywhere near that for a 7plus.

I do this every 24 months and on the years I'm not due an upgrade I lock the price in for last years phone the day before the keynote, send the phone off as late as possible and just buy the new phone outright.
It states in the EE terms you have to, if wanting the upgrade after 12 months, to hand in the same phone though. Pity we could have been a bit cheaper way!!

I'm not a fan of these 24 month contracts from the networks where you can upgrade after 12 months.

After 12 months of payments + upfront fee you've paid a considerable amount for the phone only to hand it back and be forced to take a contract again of equal value.

They're just a way to lock you into the network for longer than the statutory 24 month limit, as you never shop around.

The Apple version is less of an issue as it's network independent and you can switch provider at any point.

I've been thinking on this myself. Currently I'm on three sim only, 23£ for unlimited everything. EE looks good, especially the WiFi calling and visual voicemail capabilities. I was reading that with ee, you can pay 300 odd to keep the phone instead of handing it in which is good, but you can do the same with apple upgrade programme. The tipping factor for me was the included apple care with apple upgrade programme. For me adding the 45 per month ontop of my 23pm sim only contract works out only a pound or so more expensive than from ee with a 100£ less upfront fee.
