I never had to speak to anyone at Apple when my bank blocked my transaction. Once I'd cleared it with my bank I re-entered the card details and then the payment was authorised and it's now showing on my pending transactions. My status changed to preparing for shipment a few hours after my payment went through. I have a serial number in my support profile and my delivery date is still the 16th of September. It should be fine so long as the payment goes through.

I think only now are people seeing charges for the in store pick ups. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Ahh ok then, I shall keep an eye on it this evening.

Thanks!

I've been charged. I've "reserved" but it's being shipped to my local Apple Store and I have a collection time of 0815. Still "Processing Items" however. I think I'll see movement, Tuesday, probably Wednesday.

Is the profile trick only for people who are having home deliveries or will the store pickup ones be there?

I'd be very surprised if it did, I think your exact iPhone will be allocated to you when you turn up. They'll just have a pool of reserved iPhones and grab yours when you arrive.

Anyone here on O2 refresh contract?
Because last year's iPhone release was on the 25th I can get a new phone on the 25th. I have tried to phone them for 2 days about reserving one as was worried about their stock levels but you can't get through on the phone. Yesterday I decided to try the chat. The O2 person said you can only do the refresh upgrade in store but he assured me there will be stock and I can reserve jet black plus in store to collect on the 25th.Today I went to a store in the west end and they said they will have no stock of 7plus! And you can't reserve one when they come in! He said I have to do it on the phone! They handed me a phone which kept me waiting 30 minutes without anyone picking up..I then had to leave. Has anyone here any experience of refresh? It seems new customers can just preorder online but the loyal customers of 12 years plus can't do anything despite having a contract promising upgrade on the 25th. I am furious! They should have a dedicated refresh phone line...surely there are lots of us?!
They are Rubbish with the pluses. In 2014 I had to wait until the end of November to get my 6 plus in 128GB and had to get it in space grey as I wasn't going to wait any longer. Last year I had already reserved one for instore pick up and when I was going to the Apple Store on launch day I passed by the O2 store and asked if they had any in stock and they said that they had no pluses in any store and that it would be weeks before they were available. They offered me the 6S but I just walked a few stores down and picked up my 6S plus from the Apple Store. This year I didn't even bother with them. I've just ordered directly from Apple and it's being delivered on Friday.

But they are paying for them upfront so they have to keep the exact model, capacity and colour ordered. So they should be assigned a serial number in advance.

Have you checked the numbers to see when they were built?

I have tried to have a look. Seems like they were built in the first half of 2016 in Chengdu but I can't be entirely sure... o_O Trying to interpret serial numbers is quite tricky and especially they appear to be a slightly different format to previous iPhone serial numbers.

I've just had a bit of trouble as well. I got an email from Apple saying payment couldn't be authorised so I tried again, entering in the details. Again this failed so I tried a credit card and again it failed. I phoned up the bank and they say it's gone through fine and gave me the authorisation code. I can also now see it's debited on my online banking. The order says processing still but before had an error saying it was decline.

They don't have online support at the moment so I'll have to give it until tomorrow to contact them and check the order is OK. The good news is I think it gives you the option to keep the order and not cancel until 7 days have passed without payment.

That's no different to a in store reservation as in previous years though.

The stock people are paying for has already been allocated to each store before people ordered them, and it doesn't matter if you're paying online, or just reserving under the iPP. It's the same stock allocation system at play, the only difference is whether they charge you in store or not. :)

You can tell this is the case by different stores having different availability. If they were shipping a device allocated to you to each store based on orders (just like they do with any other online store pickup item which isn't in stock) then it wouldn't matter which store you wanted to pick up from, as they'd come from a global pool.

Definitely not. The leather wears badly and discolours.

I have had the Apple leather case in midnight blue and saddle brown on my 6 and both have been really good. Yes, they do discolour over time and go dark but especially the saddle brown ages quite beautifully.

I have tried other cases such as the silicone but always go back to the Apple leather cases as I like the grip etc. Definitely purchasing a new one for my 7. But it is simply a matter of preference. I found the silicone very annoying with lint etc although it cleaned easily. I always put my phone in my back pocket so of course it collected lint! But like I say, it is preference!

They know they will have X of that specific variant so they will only let people buy/reserve that amount. Then when you arrive they will assign you one from the pool. If they did what you say they would then have to hunt for a specific phone which would be far too time consuming and unnecessary.

Yes when I spoke to my bank earlier they said they would release the hold on the card. I then went on to Apple's site to my account and order details where there was a message to resubmit the same payment details or new ones. I've resubmitted the same card and it should be OK now. I'm going to call Apple customer service tomorrow anyway just to make sure. I'm also going to keep an eye on my order status. The order is still showing in my order history and hasn't been cancelled by Apple so I'm assuming it will be OK.

But what about if someone turns up before me and decide that they want to change the device they have ordered for instore pick up? Will it be taken from the same pool? And therefore is it possible that I could turn up in the afternoon and they say sorry we don't have the phone that you have pre-ordered and paid for but we have this left in our pool?

They'll only be able to collect what they ordered. If they changed their mind they'll be at the back of the queue to order whatever it is they want. No one is going to get your phone, don't worry!

They have different pools for reservations and walk-ins.

Almost certainly you won't be able to change your mind on launch day because most of the walk-in stock goes to those who waited in line. If you do want to change your mind, you'll be limited to the selection they have for anyone who turns up that day (which based on current availability, will only be non-plus non-black colours)

Your reserved phone which you then don't want would become available either later that day or the next morning for new reservation customers, or the next morning for walk-ins if it hasn't been reserved already.

Here in Bath, they print stickers for every walk in phone that is available and stick it to a SouthGate, Bath business card. Then when you're in the line, they give you the business card for the phone you want which you can then exchange once you get inside.

Hope you get it sorted and your order is OK. I'm in the same boat but I assume the fact that my bank has released the hold on my card and Apple gave me the option to resubmit the same card or to use another one means that everything should be OK now for me.

Mine is being delivered but I just wanted to clarify as I would not be happy if I arrived after paying up front or even reserving and they didn't have my phone.

I don't think so :( I did that one year and couldn't see it on the profile until I'd set up the phone

What model and size? :)
Silver 7plus 128GB :D EXCITED!!! - I was going to go for matte black but they didn't have it by the time I got through (8.08!) so because I'm a ridiculous fan girl I chose a different colour so I could have it on launch day!!

Can't believe the Americans get the pluses on launch. Apple have totally screwed us in the UK over this year. No stock, another £120 on top of previous prices, in store collect a shambles.

Does anyone else think that Apple are starting to go down the pan a bit with regards to launches, software and generally there products don't seem as polished and special as they once did?

There are pluses, and as for the price increase, Brexit is to blame. Look and the price increase across Europe, they only saw the equivalent of a £15 increase.
