Shop direct are NOT big group at all, they have Very and littlewoods that's it, one of which is designed purely to screw over people with poor credit, John Lewis on the other hand is one of the biggest retailers in the U.K. So if they're not stocking plus models (because there isn't any) I really doubt anybody will be, funnily enough I know the CLO of John Lewis but never though to ask him about this seen as I though Apple would have enough stock to at least last the initial five minute on Friday

EDIT: Apolgogies he's not the CLO that was his role at ASOS he's head of operations for John Lewis, ironically he was also the GM of Shop Direct about 10 years back

For what it's worth, Marshall Ward a retired Shop Direct brand was 100x worse than Littlewoods with the worst customer service of any retailer I've ever come across to this day.

Most the people who ordered from Very have done so because of the buy now pay later. They will get a lot of cancellations if they don't fulfil those orders. I doubt a lot of their customers have paid up front.

In terms of anyone using this thread and have opted for Very be careful.

I ordered my iPad Mini 2 a couple of years ago with them through BNPL.

Did everything right my end but for some reason the first month accrued interest.

In all fairness they did put it right when I contacted them but just wanted to alert people that's all.

Exactly! I've heard of them before but I was a little reluctant that they would have such amount of stock.

I agree. No chance that John Lewis would've been allocated a smaller supply than Very's. Not only does John Lewis represent one of the most high end general consumer stores in the UK and also having an actual psychical presence in terms of high street stroes, I doubt stock was favoured towards Very.

Not to mention they've been Apple resellers for as long as I can remember, there's no way Apple would shaft them that much!

I've reserved a 128GB Gold 7+ for pickup on Friday (IUP), what are the chances of being able to change it for a Black version? My store hasn't had either black 7+ since going on sale according the lgladdy DB, praying for a couple in stock on Friday.

Aye... judging by the gladdy DB, they had none for reserve on iUP from what I can tell whatsoever, and I've not yet seen anyone with a direct apple order that says 'delivers 16th Sept' on a black/JB 7+. Could be a safe £5 bet :D

Don't forget, that data is missing the first 28 minutes, so potentially there could have been stock, we just don't know.

Also, just because no one has posted they got one, doesn't mean no on did. Using the forum isn't mandatory....

Shop Direct were massive and certainly bigger that John Lewis. It was formed from the aquisition by the Barclay Brothers (Daily telegraph etc.) of Littlewoods' mail-order division which aquired the same from GUS PLC. GUS brands included Kays, the biggest single catalogue in the UK. I worked for the GUS side 'till they made us redundant in 2007.

Who's the chap you're talking about? I should at least know of him, even if I don't know him.

Tony.

Maybe with the iPhone 6 it was either my fault with cases or one of the "Bendgate" issues ?
I'm on exactly the same deal with 3, I think it is now around £30 a month for the same deal. I get £5 a month discount as I have a standing order to pay. All you can eat data, text and calls - can't be beaten really, 4G was thrown in for free at a time when other networks charged and roaming abroad is free to most countries.

Any store pickups ready for dispatch? They have to dispatch today surely if they are going to get there for early Friday?

Possibly but I would have thought any regular account holder with Very would be using credit facility, so not a huge influx of upfront cash.
Actually from an accounting perspective the retail side of the business would probably claim the revenue upfront directly from the finance side of the business which then deals with the monthly payments. That's the beauty of businesses selling over finance - it's really equivalent to invoice factoring.

Very's reported stock levels or delivery dates are interesting in that they don't appear to be entirely random - for some of the matte black plus models they're still claiming delivery on 17/10 but other models (it's tempting to take a punt), but most notably others like the JB are showing availability consistent with other retailers and Apple. By this stage of the game I'd expect every retailer/network to know exactly how many devices they're going to receive (hence why we've seen JL checking theirs into stock).

It will be interesting over the next 24/48 hours to see how this plays out.

In other news my 256GB matte black plus is still stuck on a 27-29th date with no sign of movement at all. My email was at 8.11.
I'm no longer holding any hope of a miracle for a Friday delivery.

I have to say as far as launches go, this year hasn't been great. Apple usually always under promise and over deliver and I think they should have been more transparent in being clear that all black Plus models were constrained and that the JB was very likely going to be delayed completely.

I actually believe the original release date was next Friday, but Apple artificially moved it one week earlier to get as many orders in to monopolise on the Samsung Note 7 saga.

I think theres no despatch, they are allocating store stock to your order, doesn't make sense for them to despatch separately to their stores just for a few online orders

He's called David Meredith

This is not from Apple or even a related product. However, I got an update from another company I have an order with stating a delay in manufacturing.

This delay was because the rechargeable batteries were delayed in customs due to the G20 meeting in early September.

I wonder if Apple we affected by this. Either with component imports or of shipping launch day devices out and did miss their initial slow boat from China.

Not only does it seem impossible for anyone to get a Plus in black or jet black on launch day, but it seems even less likely you'll get a 32GB device. All I'm seeing is people ordering 128 and 256 units, nobody is talking about the fact there doesn't seem to be any 32GB Plus units anywhere.

I thought that the 32Gb isn't being made in the black / jet black models?

I highly doubt it.

Apple don't care what their competitors do. This is the date that has been touted for months. Also the iphone that is similar to Note has seen most of its models delayed. The iPhone 7 you should be able to pick up easily within the first week. It's the 7 plus that is having manufacturing difficulties due to the dual lens.

Not jet black, but black.

Loads of 32gb ...

I've seen hundreds of 32GB 7s but no 7 Plus 32GB units.
[doublepost=1473831898][/doublepost]Highcross have just added 128GB 7 Plus in Gold and 128GB 7 in Black. No 32GB Plus units at all, as usual.

I've pretty much accepted at this point that I'm not going to get a 32GB 7 Plus in Black on launch day so I might just stop getting up at 6AM until Saturday when Apple say specifically to check back. I'm just hoping I can get one for next week sometime. The exec I spoke to was very confident we'd get the models we wanted soon after Friday.

Same story for European and Switzerland, shipment still for 16 September, processing for shipment and no tracking, nothing in profile...

Iphone 7+ 256black mat

I guess Europe will be dispatched within hub in 1-2 days

Hi, I made a reservation yesterday for a 128gb Gold 7+ from Covent Garden on 16/9 for the upgrade programme. When I attend the store would I be able to amend the colour? Also, would I be able to do iphone payments rather than the upgrade programme?
