Hi, I made a reservation yesterday for a 128gb Gold 7+ from Covent Garden on 16/9 for the upgrade programme. When I attend the store would I be able to amend the colour? Also, would I be able to do iphone payments rather than the upgrade programme?

Not likely on the colour change - only if they have walk-in stock available which is looking very unlikely for a plus outside the few they have for the queue-ers.
But changing to iPhone Payments will be absolutely fine :)

Many people have had it confirmed that there are no walk ins, you're the only person that keeps angling that there might be walk in stock.

Every time I have ever restored from new, the data from the Activity app is not backed up in iCloud. I believe it's only backed up when you do an encrypted iTunes backup?
Interesting.
I won't be restoring from back up, hopefully I'll figure out a way to restore health data alone!

I have an 8.15 upgrade reservation on Friday so I'm going to ask about a colour change. Not the end of the world if they can't, I'm just not really a 'pink phone' girl!

I dont think I have a good feeling about the people who have ordered from Very... I hope it doesn't get messy.

As I've stated before we have no chance of getting our black pluses from very

Possibly but I would have thought any regular account holder with Very would be using credit facility, so not a huge influx of upfront cash.

I placed my order more as a punt than anything, I have used them a lot in the past few years and in all fairness they have never let me down, be it a launch PS4 or the new MacBook last year. If i get lucky and do in fact recieve my order then great but if not I have my Apple Store reservation so either way I don't lose out:)

Like all things if you use some sense it's a handy way of splitting payments over 3 months interest free

I actually believe the original release date was next Friday, but Apple artificially moved it one week earlier to get as many orders in to monopolise on the Samsung Note 7 saga.

I could see this. Does anyone know if Europe are having the same plus drought?

Was considering walking into DixonsCarphone at the airport... but they probably won't have any. or they might do, I hope.

Actually from an accounting perspective the retail side of the business would probably claim the revenue upfront directly from the finance side of the business which then deals with the monthly payments. That's the beauty of businesses selling over finance - it's really equivalent to invoice factoring.

Very's reported stock levels or delivery dates are interesting in that they don't appear to be entirely random - for some of the matte black plus models they're still claiming delivery on 17/10 but other models (it's tempting to take a punt), but most notably others like the JB are showing availability consistent with other retailers and Apple. By this stage of the game I'd expect every retailer/network to know exactly how many devices they're going to receive (hence why we've seen JL checking theirs into stock).

It will be interesting over the next 24/48 hours to see how this plays out.

In other news my 256GB matte black plus is still stuck on a 27-29th date with no sign of movement at all. My email was at 8.11.
I'm no longer holding any hope of a miracle for a Friday delivery.

I have to say as far as launches go, this year hasn't been great. Apple usually always under promise and over deliver and I think they should have been more transparent in being clear that all black Plus models were constrained and that the JB was very likely going to be delayed completely.

And to be fair to apple, they never release inventory details.. EVER

And about being transparent? The delivery dates were all there to see when we all pre-ordered.

Apple said we could pre-order from last Friday, which we all did. They also said they deliver FROM this Friday.

Yes we all get annoyed at not being able to get onto the apple store inside the first 5 minutes of it going live and when we can't get our hands on our shiny new toys the instant they are release; but it's the same every launch, every year.

Maybe im getting too long in the tooth and been through too many of these get sucked into the hyperbole generated or maybe I just need my morning coffee!

JUST GIVE ME MY DAMN JET BLACK + NOW!!

Anyone got moment on in-store pickup yet. I'm still on processing. Though should have to ship today, to be at store early hours Friday morning.

Too be fair this year has been particularly bad. Normally there is at least launch stock of all models.

This year has been a farce.

My Apple Watch last year was dispatched from China 24hrs before being delivered to my home in UK. Don't panic if things don't move today - tomorrow is moving day for most!

Definitely looks like the gold/pink silver are either less popular or quicker to manufacture. Or both.

I can't remember where I read it, but going back to my chemistry and design-technology days at school, silver, gold and rose gold as colours are much easier to anodise than black.

That's why Apple switched from slate-black on the iPhone 5 to space grey. Slate-black iPhone 5 had horrendous finish quality - I had to go through 8/9 units in a store before I found one that wasn't chipped/poorly anodised straight out of the box.

I'd dare say the yields on matte black and jet black, along with the rumour of dual camera difficulties have compounded to make the Plus phones even trickier in manufacturing this year.
