if it looks battered inside the first 14 days, its going straight back! as long as I've not dropped it, Apple will take it back and I'll change it

Sounds like a good plan! I'm going to 'borrow' it if that's okay :p

Only thing is, if end up returning it how long will it take for a Black Plus to be available?! I'll guess I have to resort to checking the stock at my local Apple Store on a daily basis:confused:

Has anyone with Friday in store pickup went to preparing to dispatch or anything yet. I'm still on processing.

Don't panic, it'll probably just change to "Ready for collection" on Friday morning, or maybe it'll even say processing until you've picked it up (when it'll change to "picked up" or "collected")

indeed, hopefully availability improves and you also have other vendors John Lewis etc to try.. given my & doesn't come till early October and I plan to give it the full 14 days of use before I decide to keep or not ( be it based on scratches or just not being able to get use to the + size) it will be mid-late October. By then hopefully availability is better!

Why don't you get the plus, try it out for 14 days and if it's too big just exchange it for the 7. As long you're not getting any of the blacks the stores will have plenty of stock for you to exchange it.
indeed.. I've been saying this all along! Kitty has been indecisive over the years :)

but in all seriousness, you're not sure if you will like the size of the + and you're after the 'rose gold' IIRC.. then yes there will be plenty of 7 stock for you to change down to if you choose to do so.

Really want to see my order status to start changing from "processing Items". I know my credit card has been charged for Friday pick up and have one safely reserved but I really don't want to tempt fate by getting really excited in case something goes wrong.

I have brought iPhones on release most years but always as an upgrade with O2, so it comes in the post. This shall be my very first experience of going into an Apple store on launch day. No idea why but I'm just super looking forward to getting it. Possibly because this will be my first Plus model so will be a completely new experience coming from my normal 6.

+1. People are often criticised for doing this but this is one of the reasons why the 14 day no-questions-asked policy exists, and the cost of Apple providing this is built into the (very high) RRP of our iPhones.

I think I will do that now, see what they say! Although it's worth saying that it wasn't shipped direct from Spigen, it was from Keep in Case. Spigen didn't have the case I wanted for sale direct from them on Amazon. It's the Ultra Hybrid Air Cushion one
I've had the same doubts to, as a result I've ordered a full skin from 'best skins ever' the coverage looks fantastic and it may mean I can enjoy a caseless iPhone for the first time ever! I may still use a clear spiegen style case as well

I'm right there with you buddy!!! I have a JB reserved and don't know what to do!

It's all good! I'm 99% sure they're not actually going to ship anything to the store, so it might well stay as "Processing" until you go and grab it on Friday, though it might change to "Ready for pickup" overnight on Thurs/Fri so you get an email with the barcode again for the store staff to scan. The store has the stock, it's allocated to you already, you're all set :)

Hopefully it should improve by then! Keep us posted and I'll do the same once I get mine :D

I wonder if we will be notified of any change in order status or will we receive an email/txt message saying the order is ready. I'm just wondering if checking my orders status a few times a day is a bit pointless?

A bunch of new stock went live at lunchtime today too for a few stores. If you're at Liverpool One, Buchanan Street, Churchill Square, Highcross, Trinity Leeds, Trafford Centre, Victoria Square or Chapelfield and haven't reserved what you wanted yet, take a look :)

I find this behaviour infuriating - there's nothing radically different here about size or colours - it's very easy to walk into any number of shops in any town during the last two years to pick up a 6 or 6S and just decide right there & then.

Yes, Apple do offer a return policy, but I personally think it's taking the pish to order a selection with premeditated intent to likely take it back, particularly whilst leaning on the peer support of a forum full of people excited to receive their preorder & disappointed by the lead time & new pricing.

Returns mess up the stock system and add to the retail price of products for the rest of us who are able to make a straightforward decision on an everyday item. Adopting a child, choosing a pension or buying a house needs some thinking about, picking a sodding phone means looking at a website or walking to a shop tops.

My apple watch with delivery for 16th was processing this morning... moved to Preparing for Shipment mid-morning... now it's gone back to Processing! o_O

Hi mate,

Is this to reserve to collect in store and not the upgrade programme? If so how do you check stock of the phone you want at a certain store

Thanks in advance

What does "unlocked" mean on the availability page? :)

Well I always worry that hard backed cases will scratch my phone so I put a screen protector on the back as well, but I might get a proper skin this year from BSE, I didn't know they shipped to the UK!

Has all the money come off or just £1?

You can go to Apple's iPP page (Reserve an iPhone to buy in store on 16 September) or use the links in my signature for a different view of it.

Technically, you are reserving a phone for iPP, but Apple say you can change your mind on the day :)

Oh I thought they were the same company! Mine did come from Keep In Case!
