I called Apple this morning to check there were no other issues (yet) interesting the lady told me it wasn't even the banks that were throwing a problem - it was the Bank of England not accepting the encoded keys and not passing them into the banks. They didn't expect so many transactions.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping because Apple know this was a major problem for a lot of pre-orders. They're going to do what they can to resolve the issue.

Still waiting for mine to move from Processing. Ordered at like 8:03

Anyone had a Apple phone sent off to repair through the store? Any idea how long it took?

Or even sent through courier where they pick it up from your home and send it back?

I'm so impressed with my new iPhone 7, a big difference coming from my 5s.

I was going to trade my 5s in to Music Magpie for £111, the highest I could find online but have just gone into my local game store and traded it in there and then for £125 cash. Might be worth looking there if you're thinking of trading your old iPhone in.

Also, due to confusing the two blacks on the JL website, also had an accidental order of the regular black 7, which as soon as I realised, I have been trying to cancel. The woman on the phone told me to go to the store and cancel, but when I did that, I was told just to leave it and it will be sent back after 7 days. I tried to suggest that, seeing as they are in short supply, they could send it back now and refund me, as I don't want it, but she couldn't be bothered... So sorry for hogging the stock - I did my best to get it re-released asap.

I work for Waitrose so I know how the JL Click & Collect system works. We can't sent something back until 7 days have passed. The system just won't allow it, then after the 7 days it shows as a non collection and we can return it.

But you can pick up the iPhone, take it to the relevant department and return it. You'll get refunded straight away and iPhone will go back into stock.

My black 7 plus is now preparing for dispatch and my payment is pending with my bank. So I am pretty confident I will be getting it on the 20th - 22nd

I know this is completely off topic, but it made me laugh, so I thought I'd share!!!

Replace "Bank of England" with "Visa" and that's probably more accurate. (BOE have nothing to do with card transactions)

There are 3 levels of fraud protection though: Apple, Visa/Mastercard/AMEX, and your bank. (Potentially a 4th between Apple and Visa etc, "Payment Processor", but let's assume Apple interface directly to Visa/MC/AMEX)

All of them have different fraud checks and can fail your transaction. The problem is, Visa/Mastercard/AMEX are often delayed with sending the declined notification to your bank, and sometimes it doesn't appear at all, or your bank is slow at receiving and processing the notification.

In that case, your bank will say "we don't see anything wrong", Apple will say "your card was declined" (they technically could figure out where the transaction was declined from the codes returned, but probably don't. Especially as it can change per provider and bank)

Usually, within a few hours the payment declined notice will be send up to your bank and they'll know about it. That's where you'll get a text/call from your banks fraud system.

Do you know if you can turn up for your reservation early?

I would advise it.
My appt was for 11.15 and I got there to find a queue at 10.55... an hour later I actually made it into the store!

Interestingly, if I had opted to go with the IUP I'd have had to join a second queue INSIDE the store, which didn't appear to be moving very fast....

So would the declined transactions all be either VISA or MasterCard?
[doublepost=1474116177][/doublepost]Has anyone with a 4 - 10 October delivery had movement at all? There is a thread where people have had payment taken but from what I can see they are in the USA.

managed to get a 7 black 128gb reservation this morning, after going in and playing with the new phones, i decided 7+ was my way forward. So there'll be a 7 128gb black available in Aberdeen tomorrow/later today

That they failed to point out the black models would be a late release and in limited supply. It looks to me that they were just to trying to capitalise on Samsung's difficulties with the Note 7 with this rapid release after announcement.

Like I said earlier we all have differing views on what 'late' and 'limited' are in the context of a new worldwide phone release .... my question still stands what did they over promise ?
