Still desperately hoping my delivery date gets moved forward from 5-11 Oct. Off to Portugal on the 30th and would love to have it before then!

We did the credit check anyway but that was more my doing. He said the minute I asked about being a student that there was little chance it would go through. But I did it anyway and it failed saying I didn't meet the minimum requirements. No idea what that's done to my credit score.

Sorry to hear you were declined. FYI you don't have a credit score like they do in the US.

Have you any form of credit elsewhere? As daft as it sounds you can have too little credit sometimes... so they won't know how reliable you are at paying on time/making repayments etc.

So having too thin a credit history can go against you as multiple searches in a short space of time, missing payments etc.

Okay, despite my doubts about actually getting one, I think I've got the Python script running to check the stores near me. Let's see if I can reserve one.

Care to help me with this Python script?

I've copied and pasted it into a plain text file, entered the store and models I want in the config section and named it .py, then run it from terminal but I'm not sure if it's working:

I've just performed a free credit check and my credit score is basically untouched. This probably works against me too. It's 'excellent'

Nothing you need to worry about :) It will show on your credit record that a search has been made, which in isolation is completely harmless. If you get lots of searches in a short space of time then that can be a problem, as it indicates to lenders you're desperately applying for credit all over the place, but the odd search here & there is normal.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it still work out cheaper?

iPhone 7 plus 256gb £919
AppleCare plus £119
= £1038

Upgrade programme.
£49 x 21 = £1029. £9 cheaper?

£49.45 x21 = £1038.45

Phone: £919
AppleCare+: £119
Total: £1038
------------------------
iUP: £49.45p/m (over a 20month contract)
Initial downpayment: £49
Total: £1038

Works out the same.

I don't think it has to be with the student status but the credit history that you have? I got a credit check with three being student and pass it with no problems.

I went from a 5S to a 6 Plus and never looked back! Give it time and you'll realise it's potential! My wife also recently went from a 5C to a 6 plus and because she's so clumsy has it in an otter box defender (it's huge). BUT....she loves it for movies, typing e-mails and messages, viewing documents. It really is a device for everything. And with all phones getting bigger these days I really think it's the future.

A loan is different to a phone contract. I'd easily be able to get a pay monthly contract. It's just a standard loan, which is why IUP is, that I can't have. It's all to do with responsible lending on Barclays part. I have no one to blame. In fact, they're probably protecting me from money troubles.

I just wish this information had been clear before I even went into this. They should have outlined minimums for IUP.

Do you think it would have worked just not saying them you are student?

Anyway sorry about it, hope you can find an alternative!

Personally, after a week, I didn't notice it being bigger. Then the standard felt so small after that.

I know they posted it, but did they write it?

I believe so.

It will be the student part. They probably dictated to Barclays that only people with regular income are allowed. They have to prove you have the disposable income for it. Students get stuffed over for that.

Nope as that's fraud. It's possible that the search they will do a check to compare to other data with other lenders to see what you stated when you have applied elsewhere as well. I work in finance, so I have a fair idea on this.

The only way to do it would have been to lie on the form and that would have gotten me into trouble. It's the yearly income that was a giant red flag to Barclays.

Loads of devices around Europe just went live for in store pick up.

I'm convinced we will see the same around the UK at 10pm...

Anyone looking to purchase outright and pick up in store tomorrow I would advise you to hang about
