Hello,
I've been viewing the forum as a guest but thought I'd sign-up.
I was planning to leave Three for EE (been with Three for years) but there seems to be little in the price across the networks so "better the devil you know...".
For some reason, I could not upgrade online because the system kept claiming I was on a legacy price plan (not true) - so I had to call in; called at exactly 8am but did not get answered until 9:14am.
I've opted for the iPhone 7+, 128GB, Black - I'm currently using a 6S 64GB and had the 6 16GB before but having "played" with a few +s, I thought I'd jump over! I make use of streaming media exclusively and both local/cloud storage so I'm averaging ~20GB free storage but didn't want to chance going for the 32GB.
Price Plan
30GB Data (with Personal Hotspot)
Unlimited Mins
Unlimited SMS
Feel at Home
£99 up front (waived as a goodwill gesture)
£59/per month (24 months)
The Three agent I spoke to wasn't sure I would get the handset on the release date, so we toyed with switching to a sim-only and getting the handset from Apple but the maths didn't make it cost effective - I am a heavy user and travel a lot so I'm pretty much on the best plan.
£59/month x 24 months = £1,416
or £33/month (equivalent price plan - sim only) + £819 (handset) = £1,611
I have two contracts with Three that were adjusted a couple of years back so at least one is due an upgrade every year in September.
I have been provided a provisional date of 30th September - I am naturally not happy about this, but when I ordered my 6S the year before - I pre-ordered three days after the pre-orders had opened and was quoted the same wait but had the handset delivered on release date.
Sadly, Three's online account access has no facility to track the progress of an upgrade order made via telephone, which is actually a blessing as I reckon I'd be hitting refresh a lot.
Three U.K. still use DPD for handset deliveries so I will know on the 16th if there's a delivery coming - with the option to pay extra for an early AM delivery before leaving for work. I'm still hopeful for a release-date delivery as I understand Three's website had stopped upgrade orders online so hopefully stocks won't have been depleted and will be allocated in order they were made.
I noticed a few people raised questions re: Very.co.uk and iPhones - from a friend's experience, the iPhone 6S that she ordered was fully-unlocked - not a CPW-style unlock which locked to the first SIM card.
