My phone has this creak or rather cracking sound from the bottom RHS as well. It is really annoying and something that I worry will get worse over time. I sell my phone each year and if this fixed in future production it may well impact resale value and for a 1,500 AUD device this is not acceptable. I will monitor this thread to see if new batches are fixed as I am very suspicious that one reason for the current 7+ shortage is that Apple know about this and may be fixing it.

Hi,

I have experienced the same problem and I live in UK. Today I visited the Apple store, they arranged a replacement and during that time, I checked out the iPhone 7 Plus device on the counter and nearly 70% made this noise. Also some of the 4.7-inch size iPhone 7s made this noise as well. My clicking noise occurs left and right bottom corners

I've had 2 replacements now and all of them do it. It is even worse considering you can hear it wh n using 3D Touch in that area...

Ive seen more than 20 7 plus and all made noise. Some more some less but all has it. Thats why i returned mine and waiting to see if they fix it otherwise i have to skip this year. Im sticking with 6s+ which is rock solid.

anybody had (or heard of) this issue on i7 so far? ..or is it only on i7plus ?

I believe it is the 7 Plus model only. I haven't seen or heard of any regular 7 models that make the creaking noise. I personally think it's the structural integrity of the larger 7 Plus and I also truly question if Apple is IN FACT using series 7000 aluminum...The 7 Plus I had that I returned felt extremely flimsy in comparison to my 6S Plus.

Really? That gives me a little hope but I have had my 7+ replaced 4 times I'm on my 5th phone and they all have made the sound I've given up on getting a replacement. How much force have you used to try to reproduce the sound? In my experience it doesn't take much but each phone is a little different so if you've put decent force on it and it still doesn't make the sound you're golden and I'm jealous. :)
How did you get 5 7+'s when people who pre ordered are still waiting

I didnt get my phone replaced. I bought new 7 plus from reservation online, I returned one yesterday which makes no creaking sounds but it had dead pixels or dust under the display. Today I have just ordered another one and will come to pick it up. If the phone is ok, I will keep it, otherwise back to the cycle :)) The one that i am going to pick up will be my 3rd 7 plus.

The replacement I just got doesn't pop any more but it has coil whine and my other one didn't. It does have a better more even screen though.

Have my genius appointment set up for tomorrow...kinda thinking I should just cancel and go with the route of having an express replacement sent to my house. It's quite frustrating to say the least. Have you guys that have went in store been able to walk right out with a replacement?

Received my replacement yesterday and it was worse - clicking in both bottom corners.

Going to try one more. But what a sh*t shower.

And talking of showers, the biggest issue with this is that it gives me zero confidence that this phone can be reliably waterproof if the casing appears to be slightly loose.

I HAVE SOLVED SO: I returned the plus 7 within 14 days, and I caught a 4.7 inch iphone7! in January 2017 I will buy a PLUS hoping for a quality worthy of Apple.:(

Ok, I think I will live with the original 7 plus that I got last week, which has the clicking sound.

I bought a 2nd 7 plus hoping the clicking sound will be gone. If the phone is perfect, I would refund the original phone. Surprisingly, the 2nd phone has no clicking sound at all, but it has 3 dead pixles, which is even worse than clicking issue. I checked out the phone the Apple Store and got it refunded on the spot.

On the next day, I gave another try hoping the 3rd one will have no clicking and no dead pixels. Sadly, it is even worse, this one has no clicking but it has 1 dead pixel and a chipped paint on the metal body, which makes the phone looks cheap. Refunded the 3rd one. Live with the 1st one.

Now i am so disappointed with the QC of Apple in these recent years. They build fantastic phones but their QC is worse than any other manufacturers, such as Samsung or HTC.

So for many of those's phones that do not have clicking sounds, i believe they might have other issues that they were not aware of. Dead pixel is the most common and unacceptable issue, it has been around since my first iphone.

You may have missed the explosions, burns, inhalation injuries and plane evacuation in recent news. Samsung's QC isn't exactly top notch these days.

Why would you think that? Schadenfreude?

A few of us simply don't have these problems. It happens.

read what I said above, word by word. I said "many people", I am not saying "everybody". Maybe you are one of very few people who has a perfect 7 plus.

Trust me, you just dont see the potential issue as yet

Whatever, dude. I know misery loves company, but you're carrying it a bit too far.

No clicks, no creaks, no buzzing, no yellow screen, no dead pixels, etc. I'm sorry I have a great 7 Plus. It's not my fault I got lucky. I sincerely hope you get a good phone eventually. Have a nice evening.

Get out that loop and stay up just a few more hours. I'm sure you'll find a micro dust spec by morning.

I just checked for dust under my camera's lens protector for grins. Nothing there. I feel so lonely. Hug me?

So you edited your post? That's fine. There are a few of us who haven't experienced any of the reported issues. I'm not saying they're not there, just that I don't have them.

When I received my plus 3 weeks ago the creaking was horrible. Only a few grams of pressure twisting it etc. I loosened and tightened up the screws and its been rock solid and has not gotten worse. If I twist it hard I sometimes might hear a slight creak but in no way would I do that in normal use. This is not the first iphone where I have had to do this. I had a 5 that had the same issue and tightening the screws fixed it and it never got worse over the year I had it. If it does ill deal with it then.

First post ever.
I have a black iPhone 7 Plus and it also was creaking. I took a screw driver and tightened up the screws at the bottom and it really helped. It will still creak if I really try to put pressure but I haven't heard it with normal use. You guys should try it, it really helpedmine.

I have a 7 plus rose gold with the same issues. Bottom left corner makes a clicking sound when pressed. I have called about getting a replacement but Verizon isn't wanting to replace it without me doing a "return" which would put me paying for the new one and then getting reimbursed for this one later. I think I'll just keep mine. But what would I use to tightened the screws on the bottom? It's worth a try!
