I have a 7 plus rose gold with the same issues. Bottom left corner makes a clicking sound when pressed. I have called about getting a replacement but Verizon isn't wanting to replace it without me doing a "return" which would put me paying for the new one and then getting reimbursed for this one later. I think I'll just keep mine. But what would I use to tightened the screws on the bottom? It's worth a try!

Hi,
Never ever buy your iPhones from the carrier. ALWAYS buy them at the Apple store.

There is nothing to do with the screws being loose. Others have tried tightening them up but it didnt help. The creaking noise is relatively loud while the display glass is solidly attached to the body. I looked into the gap between the glass and the body very much in detail, the glass would have moved a bit if it was loose. I believe it is another component that is causing the creaking sounds.

It is normal for the phone to have the flexibility to bend slightly, even iphone 6s plus or prior generation iphones do.
iphone 7 plus is very poorly built by the factory in China. Hopefully, Donald Trump will win the presidential election so that he can bring the factory back to the US :))

Won't Apple let you return the device there? I thought there was a warranty for 1 year.

There is a one year warranty but it's a headache going to the carrier store who then ultimately directs you to the Apple store. Just get to know your friendly neighborhood Apple store and create a relationship with them and they'll take care of you one on one.

Now lets hope to hell Apple fixes all the quality control issues on the 7's like creaking sounds, hissing, camera lag, dust under lens, machining irregularities, and god knows what else,,,,THEN I'll buy another one..

I bought returned 3 phones because of clicking and dead pixel issue. I hate dead pixel on screen, because it is annoying to me. Even the pixel is super tiny, it still bother me. I keep my original phone which has only clicking problem, the screen is fine.

After 4 replacement 7 pluses, I ended up selling my latest one. I will be waiting until next year. I love the iPhone, but each phone had horrible screen issues (uneven backlight, light bleed, etc). And all of them had the creaking and clicking screen. All but one also had the loud hiss noise... Come on Apple.

Interesting to see that this thread has grown to 11 pages long. Many people obviously experiencing this defect. :/ wondering how the new batches are as I still haven't gone to the Genius Bar for this and will probably do an express replacement anyway.

Don't forget to take into account multiple posts by multiple people. :)

Update, the replacement started to make the same noise after 1 day :(

Mine is clicking as well, but after buying 3 other 7 plus and returning all of them, now I live with the issue and forgot about it. Not until I see this thread again :))

I think the 7 plus's front glass, unlike other generations, is opened from the side. This is something new that Apple did not have the experience in design in the past. I hope Apple will fix the issue in the 7S plus :))

Just wanted to verify, 99% of the creaking phones are the matte black devices? I'm thinking of getting mine swapped out to a silver in hopes of being creak free.

If it helps, my 7 plus matte black has a bit of a click, but my wife's 7 plus silver is even worse from a creaking/clicking/cracking perspective.

Interesting it's not just contained to one model. Mine is a matte black 128gb plus.

Peal off the plastic cover coming with the phone and everything is well..

Just got my jet black ip7 today. There does exists high pitch clicking sound but after a take off the cover, everthing is ok

Sorry? Plastic cover has been off my phone since I took it out of the box. Do you have the regular 7 or the 7 Plus?

Yeah, what? This issue most certainly exists after we have taken the plastic cover off.

I have checked out the 7 plus phone at the store, they make the same noise. I assume it might be the water resistance material or the glue.

I just tried my wife's rose gold 7 Plus and it's doing it also, albeit less than mine. -_- Disappointing for sure.

No. If it seems more matte black are affected, it's just coincidental because it was the most popular color this year.

They can't swap them out for another color. If it's still within the return period, you can return it and then buy a sliver one.

They ~could~ but it would be a large hassle/not gonna happen. Return period over, and truthfully, I don't want silver. If it would alleviate having the clicking/creaking, I would deal with it for the features and eco system that keeps me with Apple in the first place.

My matte black 7 is getting extremely hot and when doing that it is also making a clicking sound. When it's not hot it just makes a high pitched sound. And mind you it gets extremely hot just from using safari and send some messages.
I think I'm going to try to get a replacement.

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem that I'm having. I have a 7 plus in black and everything about is perfect except whenever the phone is put under any amount of flex (from lifting it up or just holding it with two hands) the phone makes a slight creaking sound that sounds like something is loose (not a bending sound). The smallest amount of flex from everyday use causes the left side to make that sound which is quite audible. Another example is when I'm holding it with two hands, and press the top left and bottom right portions of the screen at the same time, it makes a slight click. Again, I'm not bending it or trying to bend it in any way. It's really annoying... I would love to exchange it for another one, but all of the apples stores within a 50 miles radius of me are completely out of stock.
And here I'm another user from India with same problem. Got my matte black 7 plus yesterday and it clicks when twisting the right lower corner. The clicking is consistent and reproduced every single time. Tried inspecting closely but couldn't see any play or loose adhesions. I'm also having a Leeco 2 phone whose screen clicks all over and the company released an official statement saying it was a protective measure instead. May be apple might release similar kind of statement seeing the issue being universal and problem being inert no matter even if there's a genuine explaination for it or not. But I couldn't help noticing a different kind of layer between the screen and chassis.. may be I'm paranoid or it's a water resistance rubber lining and that could also cause the clicking. It could be the taptic motor or anything but I'll stop being obsessive now and see how it goes over the warranty period.
