That's one of the things i love about an iPhone, how recognizable it is throughout the years.

Some business experts would agree that having a strong, yet smaller loyal niche customer base will keep a business just a strong as a far reaching one would.

Apple has been catering to those who like big changes but familiar.

Look at Nintendo for example. They are spiraling out of control trying to stay afloat with m$ and Sony. Ironically - both m$ and sony controllers are based off the layout of the Super Nintendo - and they haven't deviated much from it since their first iteration (ps1 / og xbox). Nintendo on the other hand went from the SNES controller, to the n64 controller onto WTF land with their weird designs - and they are paying for it. No body wants to play COD on a wiimote or wii u pad, and because of that - nintendo doesn't get the top FPS shooter games any more, which make a lot of money for the companies.

just a side rant

They will tank once they remove this headphone jack thing and actually don't include an adapter for the lightning port for headphones with the phone.

It's going to be epic.

Why? Get the 6s plus and you'll have both.
I have a 6+ right now (my first iPhone). It was great in the beginning, and it's still a great device, but I was playing around with my Note 3 the other week and realized how much I missed Android.

I want to say that they'll include an adapter because it's a new design -- but knowing apple, they'll prefer charging $20 - $30 for the adapter.

So basically not all the time and at least sometimes no good way to know what is an actual leak or just speculation (or even fake).

Personally I think Apple does something to their iOS upgrades to make older models waste more battery in order to get you to buy their new products.. I'm still keeping my iPhone 6 and will wait till next year's model
Yeah they make more features which requires a better, faster processor than the last one. It's nothing deliberate to slow older phones, it's just the way it is.

An iPhone model will never EVER EVER EVER be called "iPhone Pro" - don't be ludicrous. What is "Pro" about a consumer smartphone? Being BIGGER != "Pro" - and no one envisages an iPhone being any bigger than it is now. An iPad Pro, yes - it's a very powerful creative tool with extended capabilities - THINK ABOUT CONTEXT and intended use before making these bizarre, illogical connections between one product line and another, together with their intended users & customers. There is NOTHING that would separate one iPhone from the rest to warrant the suffix "Pro" - what does it do, transport you to the subway and book your conference calls for you whilst polishing your shoes and pressing your trousers? LOL - just "iPhone" my friends, that does just nicely.

It's a comfort that most likely the people on these forums don't work with Apple in branding product.

:p
I could see an iPhone pro with a dual camera , more powerful soc and more ram, and 256gb storage, with some kind of split screen multitasking that, knowing Apple only works on the pro model. And a Higher res display with capability of showing more colors (like the smaller iPad Pro ) and true tone.
USB -c lighting connector with the capability/bandwidth to stream high res audio to the Lightning port. And the ability to connect a bigger charger, for faster charging.
I think the smart connector will be on all iPhone 7 models.

Pencil support, mwehh, don' think so...

Base will be 32gb and will be 150 us more expensive than the iPhone 7+ 16gb and 50 us more expensive than a 7+ 64gb.

Forever? I don't see anything else get completely redesigned every two years. People are just going to have to learn to be less superficial about their phones design because it isn't always going to be this exciting. It's not a new product anymore.

Srsly? Everything gets redone every year. Cars, refrigerators, washing machines, watches, clothes, coffee makers, plates, cups, everything...

Still remember my first iPhone - original iPhone 1. What an AMAZING experience.
Almost a religious one. What a revelation.

Now, 10 years later - all the same and more of the same... 10 YEARS!!! :(

I remember when I first drove a car. What an amazing experience. Almost a religious one. What a revelation.

Now, thirty years late -- all the same and more of the same... 10 YEARS!!! Where is my flying car? :(

Cry me a river. These smartphones have reached their zenith in exterior design. It's all about the guts now.

I can see the iPhone Pro having the dual camera, extra ram and the 256GB option, however I don't see Apple making true tone exclusive to the Pro version.

so after ~10 years this is best/zeneth high water mark external design for a smartphone apple could come up with?

Interesting.

Good. I save $1000 not buying it this year.

Exxxactly

And the thing with the adapters in the past was the nice innovative additions to the phones was almost an even tradeoff for added costs. But to not change much at all but tac on an added cost is ridiculous.

Think I'll be keeping my 6+ for the next 2 yrs or so.

Yeah they do Hense the S7/edge being successful

It's features that some fan boys ignore but as soon as Apple get those features it's the best thing ever!
You talk about features as if they are ubiquitous things. Which, to a laymen they probably are. Explains why Samsung can sell any of its junk. They put buzzwords like Wireless Charing as bullet points on the marquee, and that means something to you.
This is the primary reason why Apple names many of features, because they are nothing even remotely comparable to other incarnations of the concept. Touch ID for example, is in a league all to its own, nothing remotely similar to the other "fingerprint" crap on the market.

Exactly, I like the fact that Apple take time to implement their features. It's not always about being first, I would rather Apple take it's time and get it right.

That is a horrible excuse. It's not about taking time to implement features, its about taking time to implement the right features. The right features are the ones that consumers want and/or Apple decides that makes their product a hit.

If the quality of what Samsung puts out the door are just for the sake of "being first" and not "getting it right", then we should see less people buying Samsung phones compared to Apple (like first Galaxy Gear for example has nothing quality against the Apple watch).

Clearly Samsung took the time to get the Galaxy S7 Edge right, Apple should be prioritizing on the right features to keep above the rest. Of course there is always more than priorities and time, but clearly this is a win for companies like Samsung that have clearly succeeded in their innovation and execution 2016 thus far.

Apple needs to get back up there above the rest, I know they can. They started this whole thing with the iPhone after all.

Ming said we should wait for the next version with AMOLED screen, glass body and shrinked bezels.
Or don't wait and get the s7 now..

That old chestnut, can't keep dragging it out now. Please tell me anything they have brought out in the the last few years that is a blatant copy that is better the original.

Ps, wireless Charging isn't a good example of something you can make better and rename. You put your phone on a charging plate, and it charges. The end.

Samsung do not take the time to get the features right, they implement half baked ones (at least from my experience when I owned the S4). Samsungs problem is customer experience, just go on their Facebook page and you will see lots of people complaining. Their other problem is Touchwiz and the lack of updates. Personally I much prefer iPhone, it's a lot more reliable and features inside it work. As for what features to implement that is a matter of what people want, and Apple will never be able to please everyone 100% of the time, people are free to move away from the Apple brand if they are not happy with what Apple is doing. People will of course vote with their wallets, the iPhone 6S was a success as was the 6 and 6 Plus befofe it, and I have a feeling the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be a success.

I never mentioned copying, but Touch ID is much better on the iPhone (for example). And your reference to wireless charging I'm afraid I can't agree, Apple already hold a patent where it would charge a device (presumably the iPhone) from up to 15 feet away.
