WATERPOOF, FASTER CPU, IMPROVED CAMERA SENSOR AND LENS, IMPROVED SENSOR, EXTRA BATTERY LIFE, NEW SOUND AMPLIFIER, DUAL CAMERA.. this feature are enough to UPGRADE UR PHONES
The amplifier is kind of useless without a headphone jack.

A few thoughts....

First, it would be somewhat amusing if that blue iPhone was purposely made by Apple just so they could track down who was leaking things out, and they only made one like that.

Second, I'm not quite sure why space grey is going away but silver isn't? I could be wrong - but it sure seemed to me that more people liked space grey than the lighter silver color (which to me just seems a little boring).

Third? Assuming these really are the color choices for the 7, I think "piano black" is clearly going to be the "hottest" one, simply because it's the first time an iPhone was ever released with a glossy finish and it's predictable it'll be in shorter supply. Since practically everyone puts their iPhone in a case, you really don't even get to see what color it is anymore, 99% of the time. So I think people are starting to buy based on whatever color choice they think is going to make it easiest to resell down the road. Practically-speaking though? Every time I've owned any product in piano black, the visibility of fingerprints on it was TERRIBLE.

Biggest reason I might want a 7 as an upgrade to my 6s is the 256GB RAM, honestly. I have 128GB now and I can't really keep my whole music collection on it along with all the apps I want and photos.

What happened to the blue one that pictures were posted of a few weeks back? I liked that color. :-(

Edit: Actually BGR posted new pictures of it a few days ago:

I have to admit that I was very unhappy when I first heard the rumours about Apple losing the headphone jack. Now, however, I've changed my mind and I think it's a great idea!

Why? Because it's made me realise that I'm not going to be upgrading my, and my wife's, iPhone 6s this year. I've realised that there's absolutely no reason to do so. And with the money saved we're putting it towards two flights to the Bahamas for next March. So cheers Apple

Make sure you savour your headphones. Take them on holiday with you, use them on the plane. You can then take your headphones around the Bahamas, on the beach, by the pool, go for a walk on the sand at dusk listening to your favourite songs.

Then after an amazing day, when you get back to your room, when your wife is asleep, you can slot your headphone jack into your phone, over and over again and scream Oh JACK Oh JACK.

With an included 3.5mm to lightning adapter, what are you really missing out on? The ability to use wired headphones while charging your device?

Why do people keep saying this? Of course you will be able to charge your iPhone while using your headphones.

My amplifier and speakers are over 20 years old and work absolutely fine. And from all I hear, there is no real advancement in the quality of good stereo amplifiers and the quality of good speakers. If I feel like it I will add an AirPlay adapter :)

And here http://www.audioweb.ro/oferte/vizualizare/scott-r-316-receiver/ is a link to someone selling a used Scott receiver - the exact same on as I bought with my first hard earned money. I gave mine away to buy something better, which I always regretted. This one is close to 40 years old and working just fine. Probably will work fine for another 40 years.

Most of my stereo equipment purchased in the 1990s has all failed, due to leaky capacitors, or other hardware failures. The sad reality is, it costs a lot less to buy a new one than it does to have these repaired. And it's no so much about about amplifiers -- a good audiophile investment in a separate amp and receiver, etc. might be worth the effort to repair them. But for most modern consumers, a new receiver offers better surround sound, digital inputs, and other cool options not available even 20 years ago. I put even less faith in modern equipment lasting even that long.

I'm also not sure you can say that there are no advancements in modern stereo equipment over that made 20 years ago, especially on the consumer level, where at a minimum higher quality equipment from 20 years ago can be had for much less today, resulting in cleaner and more efficient and accurate sound reproduction.

Weren't the early phones shiny and glossy? my first one was, "3G" or whatever that slippery thing was called.

If you don't have a 3.5mm jack, yes you can't charge and play music to your wired 3.5mm headphones, plus you have to deal with an adapter when the current solution (Lighting and 3.5mm coexisting on the phone) works perfectly well.

But that's not the end of it, what if you now purchase a sleek set of Lighting connected headphones. Unless Apple makes yet another adapter but this time with two Lighting ports, one for power and the other pass-through, you can't plug in your Lighting headphones and charge your phone.

By going to one port for charging, data/audio, etc., our options have been reduced.

The 3.5mm jack is a universal standard across laptops, automobiles, desktops, music players, stereos, mobile phones, tablets, even in-seat audio jacks on most passenger airlines. Removing this standard is a complete slap in the face to millions of consumers who have spent a lot of money on high quality headphones, earbuds, speakers, etc. that all use the 3.5mm standard.
Not quite universal. My car from 2000 (Honda Insight) didn't feature any sort of audio input. My car from 10 year later (Toyota Prius) does have 3.5mm audio input, but it also has a USB input, so of course I would use the lightning cable to listen to music and charge at the same time. My car from 2015 (Toyota Highlander) has 3.5mm and USB, and also Bluetooth audio.

My next car will be a 2018 Tesla Model 3. I expect it to have USB and Bluetooth, but not 3.5mm audio. I think I read that the Model S doesn't come with 3.5mm audio input jacks.

There is no evidence, because no one bothered to look for some. It might as well be the least used port on this planet as far as i know.

There is no evidence because there is no evidence. I would actually wager it is the single most used port on this planet - it's one of the few ports that is international and its on nearly all consumer electronics items that relate to sound: game console controller, tv, laptop, tablet, stereo, smartphone, pda, some cameras even have it, ATMs have it for the hearing impaired, airline seat, car headunit. Just sitting in my living room right now I can see 8 3.5mm ports (2 iphones, 2 laptops, 2 xbox controllers, 1 tv, 1 amp).

My point is that the 3.5mm audio jack is generally the most universal/accepted audio standard and when present it generally works well. I admit not all things in the world come with a 3.5mm audio port, for example my refrigerator does not include a 3.5mm audio jack, but maybe next year's model will including Lighting port.

A majority of my acquaintances don't use the headphone jack, they use bluetooth. As do I. Happy to have got rid of nuisance cables years ago.
I understand that some people have bought expensive headphones, and it seems - according to some posts here - they thought that these would be compatible with the iPhone till the end of time, but the world and technology does not work like that.
I asked around my studio yesterday: almost everybody welcomes removal of useless 3.5mm jack (17 of 21 people)

Maybe that is your circle of friends. Last data I saw showed that 85% of all headphone or earbud purchases are still 3.5mm based, currently. That's a lot of potential customers they are going to alienate.

Good to read also they are including the FREE 3.5mm adapter in the box - a lot of folks thought I was crazy predicting this months ago.

Why wouldn't they think you were crazy? Apple's never included an adapter for any of their products. If true, it will be a first for them.

ust sitting in my living room right now I can see 8 3.5mm ports (2 iphones, 2 laptops, 2 xbox controllers, 1 tv, 1 amp).

How many do you expect to see in 5 years? 10 years?
I am in the shower right now, can't see a single 3,5mm port anywhere...

Still the same low display resolutions.
Even the relatively old Xperia Z2 has a higher PPI than the iPhones.
There is no way i will buy a expensive new cellphone and downgrade in PPI from my current Z2. So i have to wait for iPhone 8.

What would you consider innovation in phone design? Curved screen? All glass? No bezel? All smartphones are essentially the same now. Pretty much every android OEM does unibody aluminum now. People complain but never really say what they want (except the impossible).

Anything and everything that doesn't make me feel like I'm buying another iPhone 6. ;) You see, I'm a consumer and I don't need to know what I want before I see it. However, Apple as the manufacturer needs innovate something awesome so when I see I want it. With iPhone 7 this is not happening. Better luck next time Apple!
