I disagree. I find iOS 10 on a larger phone much easier to use one handed. I tried several times with the galaxy and couldn't even text with it one handed.

I wasn't talking software, but I'll assume you feel the Plus is the most efficiently designed large screen phone on the market and I feel a whole lot of bezel could be cut out of it. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.

An all black iphone would be cool again.

Been using my iPhone 4 for last few weeks, even though dated, for its time it was a brilliant device compared to my 6, which just feels like any phone available today, the 4 was special and to this day, it's design is awesome.

But apple has always been proprietary. Lightening/30 pin instead of USB. MagSafe instead of whatever pcs use. DisplayPort/thunderbolt instead of vga/hdmi. You have always had to buy adaptors to link in to the real world with apple. They have always done their own thing and have never suffered because of it.
Oh they have. Then they came out with the iPod.

Out of curiosity, what kind of business apps allow business owners to run their companies remotely? I'd be interested in checking them out. Cheers.

They don't necessarily run it remotely but have access to all their files, contacts, remote printers, information, etc. to be able to handle all their daily activities from their phones when on the move. I'd say they both use their laptops only when their phones are charging or if they are at home on a slow night.

It's dead Jim.

Analog is going bye-bye and it's not just Apple.

Old ports and connectors get deprecated as the industry evolves and advances.

Only a fool thinks old ports get depreciated. That's not how tech works. It's the entire electronic device that becomes an investment such as a computer, printer or whatnot that gets depreciated over time, NOT just one part. NOR is the one part the cause of it.

You're just in denial that Apple included the adapter for the 3.5 and in denial of Apple's denial of reality.

They removed the 3.5 out of sick fetish for thinness.

3.5 has always been around and will be for a long time. It's far more reliable than having to recharge a BT device.

Your brain can hear things in analog waves. Always has. You cannot digitize your hearing unless you want a cochlear implant drilled in your skull. Trust me. You don't want that. It sounds like crap. I should know because I have a digital hearing aid and it's not even close to the analog hearing aid I had back then which sounded much better with more bass and clarity.

Unfortunately, the industry slowed down on that and used digital out of greed requiring a visit to the audiologist to program it every time when adjustments are needed. With analog, you didn't need to.

In fact, one company made BT hearing aids that works with an iPhone that acts as a control center for discretion since the device appears to lack any button except for power. There is one huge flaw with that. Lose the phone and you can't control the HA. What's bizarre is that Apple worked with that company on those HAs.

Sometimes minimalism isn't always a good idea especially in the name of thinness and for wireless sake.

What Apple makes will not last you a lifetime but a good solid analog sound system or headphones will. A good example would be Grado. Old school but still one of the best in the market.

Sure dialling numbers to make phone calls, create events in a calendar and stay in touch with your social life does indeed require a top notch high end phone.
If you want to make a statement, sure, but don't make a statement that sound that ridiculous.

If that's all you use your iPhone for, then you might as well get a Razr or low end Android phone. I use my phone a lot more than I do my laptop so speed, reliability and efficiency for me are key with technology. Is that one less ridiculous?

If you want examples:

Access my home security system (activate, deactivate, cameras, thermostat, lighting)
Access my home media server (remotely with RDP)
Control my home entertainment system (Simple Control)
Remotely help friends and family with their computers (TeamViewer)
Online shopping (Amazon, eBay, etc)
Edit videos and pictures
Troubleshoot networks (Net Analyzer)

Plus much, much more! ;)

Why does the wide angle lens get image stabilization but not the tele lens ? IS is more useful with long focal length.

I went to the Note 7 and if course it gets recalled. I really love this phone from a design perspective it puts Apple to shame. The screen, bezels, wireless and quick charging are great features.

Apple on the other hand kills it with the CPU and GPU. I don't play games but I give credit where it is due. I only wish I could use iOS on the Note 7 once the batteries are fixed of course haha.

If you love the Note's pen and software, that's great. But let's not get carried away.

Samsung not only copied the 6's design, but they did it without the same attention to detail that Apple is famous for. You can see it in the lack of symmetry and perfect alignment of the ports, grill and headphone jack.

Not to mention, the lack of bezels makes it difficult to hold and the viewing experience is annoying because it warps content along the edges; that is, if you can even see the content with all the glare that comes off the sides of the display.

You know, it's kinda funny/sad how people don't want to buy quality, long lasting stuff any more. I bought my Audio-Technica M50x's because I hope they last me the rest of my life. Admittedly they aren't even really expensive but audio equipment is something that if you buy the right stuff it lasts nearly forever. If I had the money I would buy a top-line home stereo setup, ( Polk, Klipsch, or something like that) because good sound never goes out of style. Now people just want to buy the latest hot item.

Sure. And the beauty of that is, new technology can keep old equipment as relevant as ever. Sonos makes a wireless hub for just such old stereo equipment. If Apple really does introduce a significant improvement in the sound quality of their wireless audio, I can't imagine not buying a compatible wireless receiver to use with my beloved wired headphones, and get the best of both worlds. Why would I want to keep plugging my headphones into my iPhone if there was no reason to?

Yes, the solid sound system is meant to last a long time, a smartphone is a gadget for the short term. therefor it doesn't really matter what they change or introduce, in a couple of years today's decisions will be improved/changed or obsolete, along with all peripherals. and people will buy the new thing. Thats the way it is and it's fine I believe.

Here come the Samsung fanboys saying Apple copied Samsung with water resistance.

They will probably be copying Samsung on several features as time goes on. Waterproofing will be this year, iris scanner next year, and wireless charging after that. Everyone is guilty of copying.

If the main reason why to get rid of the 3.5-mm audio connector was for a water resistant assembly, it makes sense. All the previous iPhone's had a water detection tag in the end of the audio connector to check for water immersion. Apple Store techs even had endoscopes on hand to look inside the audio connector to see if it voided warranty.

Any link for the general consumer survey?

I'm sure it's in the same batch of numerous surveys oft quoted around here that start with "99%..." and always side with whatever best fits whatever Apple is doing or wanting to do. I'm guessing that survey was himself, his reflection in each mirror of his home, himself from a month ago, himself from a month from now, etc. 99% of all people surveyed in THAT survey don't want, need or ever use a 3.5mm headphone jack. In fact, 99% of all those same people do want Lightning earbuds in the box... and Airbuds- at any price- as soon as Apple rolls them out.

Next year(s) when Apple decides to jettison the camera and/or battery to an accessory item (sold separately of course), the same 99% will argue the genius of getting rid of that even more antiquated technology too.

Eventually, the 99% will get behind buying an empty box from Apple and building the iPhone from various sold-seperately parts. 99% prefer 99% margins for Apple on the phone sale (I'm allowing the box to cost something) and then added margin in the genius of buying:
  • whatever size battery,
  • whatever quality of camera
  • whatever size screen,
  • whatever amount of memory,
  • etc.
...they want. So what if the net cost is 2X more? 99% surveyed says they'll pay anything to go with the (Apple) flow. What matters most is whatever Apple wants to sell, Apple profitability maximization and it just can't get "thinner" than selling an empty box. Geekgasms for all when that day arrives.

All ;)... maybe

Me too. Hopefully there will be more economical solutions to the headphone jack problem that Apple is creating with this phone. I have a hard enough time keeping track or my headphones currently without adding an adapter to the list .... Or the hassle of keeping Bluetooth headphones charged.

I thought Apple was about making our lives easier with the best user-friendly technology?

I'll be very interested to hear their plan for charging and using headphones at the same time. Maybe yet another 30 dollar adapter?

I'll wait for next year

I've owned those!!! Fantastic. Literally the ONLY better cost/quality deal in the entire headphone market is the Koss PortaPro. At sub $50, treat yourself to a pair someday. Bonus: they're guaranteed for life! So, the inevitable day you slam the cord in your car door; $6 for shipping gets you a replacement.

Why doesn't Apple move that tag to the much larger Lightning hole nearby- probably won't even need the endoscopes for that one.

Or how about putting the tag in the faux speaker holes on the side where the 3.5mm jack used to be?

I know, I know. Water can only enter the 3.5mm jack hole. Water chooses to ignore those other holes.;)

Wow what a difficult choice, the more matte black or the piano black. It's worse because I can't see one in person before preorder. Anyone else stuck between these 2 colors?

Well, I'm like 90% sure that piano black will only come on the 256gb version & maybe only the Plus; but if I'm wrong- I'll get it on my 128gb 4.7" iPhone 7.

I don't have any of the warped content or glare issues your talking about. How many hours have you used a Galaxy edge style screen? Now I'll grant you the phone is slippery and not the best for holding, but in a thin Tech 21 case it's not an issue at all.

I expect everyone that says a thin bezel is a bad idea to completely change their mind once Apple introduces a thinner bezel to their phones. It then will be wonderful and revolutionary. That's the way it always works around here. Just wait and see.

Still are. After you buy this iPhone and the separate adapters to make it still do what it used to do before you needed to put a "tail" on the phone, your wallet with be both "thinner" and "lighter." You won't have to carry all that dirty, old (antiquated?) cash money around anymore. Thinner & lighter rules all. ;)
