What I wish Apple would do is update the dated IOS interface,

In what way?

The whole Apple ecosphere is the consistency between devices and apps. The only thing Android OS offers that I know of is the ability to customize one's interface and the "open" architecture for programmers.

Is this what you want? If so it just won't happen. People from 6 - 60 can all easily operate the Apple iOS and that can't change.

Now adding features like touch, face recognition id, improve Siri, and the screen are good!

The 1st gen of any newly redesigned Apple product usually has some design flaw. People who don't wish to become beta testers might decide to opt for an older but more "proven" design.
But it introduces the feeling that those who get the non OLED model are getting the inferior iPhone especially when OLED has been available in the $700 range for some time now

3G -> 3GS -> 4 -> 4S -> 5 -> 5S -> 6 -> 6S -> 7 -> 8???

Come on people, there's no reason to believe Apple will break the cycle. We're getting a 7S this year, and the 8 is coming next year.

3G -> 3GS -> 4 -> 4S -> 5 -> 5S -> 6 -> 6S -> 7 -> 8

Your example contradicts your conclusion.

It's pretty absurd that Apple sells so many different models concurrently. I get it, Cook can manage the supply chain to deliver the variety of products. This truly reminds me of Apple in the 90s when they had so many different models of products they sold.

Thats what other "tech" companies do. Apple shouldn't do the same. Professional and Consumer variations... that's it.... and they need to quit selling last years product alongside whats new. IMHO

Is it really too much to ask, for a smaller reasonably sized phone?!

So it's like an S7 Edge, only much much later.

Why should OLED cost $1000? Samsung is putting OLED in mid tier phones.

If it's true, and that's a big 'if', it will be so they can differentiate the higher end model and entice buyers. Top end has a higher profit margin.

I don't see a reason anyone would want to upgrade to an old looking model if they offer 5.8" with all new look and glass case.
Evidently they do:) Lookat the last 2 years. Less about looks and more about function.
Not everyone wants a huge phone ;(

Does anyone care about the 7s if the 8 is available? Seems like a waste of time to me. I wish Apple would just focus on one flagship device with all the features in 2 different sizes.

OLED screen and wireless charging. Android has had those features for some time now. Android also had facial recognition a few generations back and Windows 10 notebooks have it now. Come on Apple, innovate! What I wish Apple would do is update the dated IOS interface, which doesn't look a whole lot different than the first generation. But I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not the slightest bit interested in facial recognition, it's about as secure as a Play-Doh padlock.

iPhone 8 = glass + metal frame.
iPhone 4 = glass + metal frame.
iPhone 7s = all aluminium.

iPhone 9 = 8 (7 + x) + 4.

It's legit.

iPhone 12 = a piece of celluloid.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an article about a year and half ago stating that Apple was soon going to drop the whole "S" releases process?
