Apple should release only two phones next year.

The XI (Same dimensions of the Current X)
The XI Plus (Full OLED Screen of the current Plus size)

Make the XI cheaper than the current X and the XI Plus the same price as the current X. I dont believe they should go any higher than the current X price anytime soon. But its Apple. Who knows.

You are right, in a terms of one hand use they are not much different.
The difference is that X is all screen and 8 does have the traditional bezels and much smaller screen.
Btw... loving the gestures on the X. I never thought I would say this but feels more natural then having to press the home button.
I’m very tempted to get the X after playing around with it at the store.

I'm honestly hoping this is a thing. Was supper pumped for the bigger screen on the iPhone X, and a week in I'm already disappointed...

The man is still right about 90% of the time. He was wrong once, give him a break...

Until you've used the phone for a year, and it starts to slow down bc it has 2 year old tech and everything is created for the 8, 8 Plus, and X (which all have MacBook Pro level performance).

Most people buy a new phone when their current one craps out. They use it for 2 -3 years until that one craps out, and the cycle starts over again. Buying a phone that already has year old tech only speeds up the cycle. Your $120 buys you an extra year before you start seeing performance issues.

But I agree with you, I wouldn't buy an 8. I would buy a X, it really is that much better a phone.

right... Prove it or lose it. The 90% is an outrageous fiction. Even 20% would be fiction.

You do know he has a god damn report almost every few days with many "predictions" in those, most turn out wrong to very wrong. Not to mention is whole "musings" where he pulls motivations of Apple for doing things out of his rump (but passing it on as some informed info).

How on earth can he be right 90% of the time, when he's not even right 50% on any single one of those reports?

he has been wrong probably 20 separate times just in the last 2 months.

He was wrong about production, when decisions were made, logistics, etc.
Pure ******** from an engineering point of view, manufacturing point of view, logistics and well, every fracking of view that exists. Anyone with real knowledge knowledge of all of these knows he's lying all the time.

He's a con artists, mostly good at spin.

I did decide it in a heartbeat! iPhone 8 is not bad but it's just the same iPhone it has been around for few years with some improvements. The X is the new sheriff in town. May we well pay that extra and get the best. And by the way, i did love Touch IT so much that it hurts me when I say I am not missing it.

I think I’ll spend this week with just the X , and see where I am at the end of it .

Do you have the silver or black ? I have the black one, though not sure if I prefer the silver I can polish when it gets scratched

I have the silver. I got the Apple silicon case at the same time. I am not a case fan but since I broke the screen of my Galaxy S8 when it came out of my pocket, I became a bit paranoid (luckily it was insured, always have my phones insured) To me for some reason the silver one looks better, but then again I have been using dark ones for few years so just wanted to change. Does not make much difference once you slap a case on it though :)

Iphone 8 is a better phone than the 10.
When people start returning the 10 for the 8, sales will increase

I think they underestimated how much people would pay to be a part of the “exclusive” iPhone X club. Then there’s Animoji... I have friends who aren’t really techy and usually just buy the 16GB basic iPhone and are asking me how to get their hands on an iPhone X.

I wonder if Apple would just drop the higher priced 256GB iPhone 8 out of the lineup mid cycle if they could get production up on the X to meet demand.

iPhone 4s is still the best form factor ever. True easy one hand/thumb operation and slick size. I miss it more than my last girlfriend.

The 8 is still a good solid phone. Is it actually technically faster than the ‘X’ even though the processor is the same?

Still would get the ‘X’ though if I’m the market for a new phone.

This is confusing to me - why get an 8+ when you can get an X instead? The 8+ has a smaller screen and a more cumbersome form factor, lower resolution, slightly worse camera and worse contrast ratio for a similar price.

Are people just that uninformed? Or is the $200 difference that significant?

I get buying a regular 8 (though I would just get a 7 if I was trying to save money) but the 8+ seems inferior to the X in every way possible.

I agree with you. The silver is better for my taste. I actually thought the black one came with SS band like an iPhone 4, should have paid more attention. Most likely return my grey for silver. Cheers

Nah
Jobs not here.
Apple has changed
World has changed.
One size fits all is not gonna happen.

Agreed. Expect more models actually , as long as they sell.

Jobs was all about user experience , and making the decision for you, making money.....you cater to everyone’s desires , and Cook is great at that. There will be a iPhone X plus, if it makes more money.

anyone one bought iphone 8 over iphone 7 and thought it worth while?

If I was buying new, yes, 8 over 7. Really does feel nice in hand.

If I had a 7, not worth it in my opinion.

Apple is selling more of the more expensive phones. They’re doomed.
No. Apple will never be doomed. Apple has several iPhone lines targeting different market niches. So selling more expensive phones definitely do not cause a doomsday to Apple because the expensive phones are targeted to a separate market niche.

As they should. Wouldn’t make sense for it be have the same production level as something much higher in demand.

Honestly if you’re in the market for the 8 save yourself the extra $120 and get a 7 instead. The differences are basically nonexistent.
I would say that the difference between 7 and 8 is considerably bigger than the difference between 8 and X. If you you're in the market for the X save yourself $200+ and get an 8 instead.

If this is the case then why was it my telco was gonna take 7 weeks to get me a new 8 from the date they were released Sept 22? I went strait to Apple and got one.

Seems like the pluses have been gaining in popularity each cycle. The standard phone has become more niche. Moving forward I wonder if they'll even have size choices or if everything will just be X type large screen with standard size housing.
I would bet that in 1-2 years there will only be an iPhone based on the X, my 8 might become a collectors item?

While this makes perfect sense from a manufacturing perspective, I hope Apple continues with a smaller phone at a cheaper price. Not everyone needs or wants Plus phones or the latest and greatest.

If the SE becomes the smaller phone along with a plus and X (or X and X Plus), no complaints there. I would like more choice.

Yes, I would agree - but I don't think it has to do with the screening size for many people - I switched to the plus for the dual camera lens and the better battery. I'd have switched back to the smaller one if it got the double lens and a slightly better batter.

Not so sure . The X price point and moving away from touchid is not for everyone . The iPhone 8 is a very nice unit

Just can't see people deciding to get a X over the 8 all the sudden.... it's £300 more..... that is a very large amount .
Sometimes I just can’t understand the way other people think about money. $350 more for a device that I plan on keeping for at least 2 years and is radically different/upgraded, when the cheaper device already costs $700 makes absolutely no sense to me. That $350 or £300 over 24 month comes out to less than $15 a month. It’s not even a debate for me, if I’m already spending over $700 and financing it I’d rather pay the $1000 for the flagship model.

What about when it hits £1200..... £1500.... at some point you have to ask, is the value there. What I am saying , for many, the 8 meets their needs, no need to spend £300 more , put that towards a holiday , something else.

And for many the X is worth every penny. Some would pay more...and of the x plus comes out, they will.

If the 8 meets their needs, so will the 7. There’s basically no difference. If you really want to save the money then go for the 7, but the price difference between the 8 and 10 is negligible for the major difference between the two devices.

Is this serious? You know the screen real estate of iPhone X is a lot smaller than 8+? You know that iPhone X is a mini phone? Longer yes, but too narrow to be even close to a phablet. In my view the iPhone X is obsolete. Too small screen these days (unless you primarily use iPad). Would even pay a few hundred dollars more for an 8+.
