Just do 128/256/512. Apple are so petty lmao.
No. Apple can't do that. If 64GB isn't likely to be enough and 128GB is just enough, Apple wants to FORCE UPGRADE you to the 256GB. Apple is a very smart company when it comes to getting people to part with their money. However, I think many people can make do with 64GB for very basic iPhone use.

it's more than clear, that majority of people would be more than fine with 128G, that's the only reason why they don't offer it, to force people buy more expensive version. I hate this strategy, especially with MBP
The majority of people don’t get anywhere near 32 gig let alone 64 - it’s just us tekkie minority who care so much about 128 or above ..

It's funny that with how much they've been pushing the "cloud", physical storage just keeps getting bigger and bigger. As computers get smaller and more efficient, they seem to need more and more space to store stuff. Do people just not use cloud storage or what?

Sorry but 3gigs RAM is not enough for me. I will only have a few apps open and it’s constant reload especially in safari is annoying.

Who needs ****in 256GB or even 512GB in a smartphone?
Even some of new MacBooks got less that that!
I still have more than enough with my iPhone SE 16GB.
Never needed more.

Those people who transfer ALL music to their iPhones are SICK.
Why dont you just stream? Use Apple Music, use amazon prime, soundcloud whatever!
I wonder why people still download instead of streaming.
And with the iCloud and other clouds, nobody needs to save all the stuff local on the phone.
Just backup in the cloud all of your ****in photos, videos, music whatever.

Jeeze, how many clouds and services do you pay for?

If true, this is good news because it means that the base model will be under $1k USD. Still hoping to hit the $850 USD mark.

I am using 36gb of 128gb currently with 24gb of that being music. I video often at 1080 60fs but remove it soon as I am finished to edit it on the MacBook Pro. I am thinking 64 will be ok for me the go around.

EDIT: Yes, I copy my music to the iPhone. I am often in areas for hours with no reception due to work. I can't steam then and I do not have unlimited data when I could stream. Having it locally is the best option for me.

Just stick an SD card slot in it and let us upgrade the storage.

Then Apple can make a 64GB base phone. 1 SKU = lower costs to Apple. This works for Samsung and a lot of other phone manufactures.

wait... Apple... make something upgradable ? are you nuts ? what would the shareholders say !
nothing must be upgradeable !

As for RAM, I was hoping for 4GB like my iPad Pro 10.5" which is blazing fast, but 3GB is probably enough for a phone on iOS. Although considering the rumored price points and potential "Pro" name, it's a little disappointing. Hopefully they'll at least throw us creative types a bone so we can use Apple Pencil with it and use it as a little Moleskine sketchpad that we'll always have in our pockets, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

First, there is nothing "Pro" about an iPhone. It's a device used to make and receive calls/notifications as its primary function. The OLED model will in all likeliness have a marketing term moniker attached to debut a name that would be appropriately fitting. But the term Pro is rather daft and it's not suited for a phone. An iPad is a completely different device that incorporates different productivity tasks for more computing requirements, which the term Pro would be more apt.

And the Apple Pencil support for the iPhone is not going to happen, at least not yet. It doesn't serve a direct purpose for what it's true capabilities are, which is sketching and note taking on a larger device. The Pencil would need to be significantly smaller for a smaller display to make it less cumbersome. And then if Apple did incorporate Apple Pencil support for the rumored 5.8 OLED iPhone, it certainly not won't be for this generation iPhone.

You're joking right? I think you dropped this: /s

I just tried an h.265 4K video on my 2014 MBP 13" and it was stuttery as f@@K, so it's not the nirvana answer to everything... It's only good if everything you own supports it.

You don't have hardware acceleration needed to play it smoothly. Playback has nothing to do with storage space.

Not happening I'm afraid. This is Apple the company that pioneered glueing computers together when they realised what a nice earner RAM/storage upgrades could be.

Look at the current models. $100 difference between the SKUs, the margins on that are huge.
I gave you the thumbs up. Not because I like Apple's decisioning, but because you're correct.

Apple screwed consumers with the 16gb phone for YEARS but in one year they go from 256gb to 512gb?

What a company... o_O

Because the consumer opts to choose what they want for storage. You want higher storage, you have options based on what your needs are. Apple never forced anyone to purchase a 16GB iPhone, which for some, that's all they needed.

And now configure how much more 4K video/Live Photo's and other digital Media consumes, larger storage would be necessary in some area's.

They have to offer the 64GB model so they can price one at the low low $1100.00. The 512 will be $1700, only come in gold and have the entire Car Karaoke series pre-installed in 4k.
Please. That's ******** and you know it. The 512 will be $1700. For it to come in gold, it'll be $2500. And to have the entire Car Karaoke series pre-installed in 4k it will be $2650.

I stream live from glaciers at 4300m with 4G+ everywhere here. One more reason to love my country. Network 100,00% on every peak, in every city, on every lake, even inside of glacier caves.

Checking the 3G/4G coverage maps of Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt you can clearly see that that#s not true.
Glad you like your country. It really must be nice to have that level of coverage.

Compared to the US though, your country is TINY. Compared to the world, it's smaller still.

I guess you love your frosty cage and don't get out much? :p

Seriously though, having stuff locally is probably always better and probably more efficient battery-wise for more people outside of Switzerland.

I personally prefer warmer climes, and there are no cell towers out to sea (that I know of).

Pretty sure he's not serious, as checking the coverage maps of the big network providers (Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt,...) shows that there is still a lot of the mountainous area is not 2G/3G or 4G covered.

But: It's not like Switzerland is super cold, we just had 35°C in Zurich the other week! ;)

honestly, just launch the presentation already, i want to see if it is something i want or not. so tired of all these rumours and see that chi min kuo dude's name is everything
