where does it go after you hit the phone icon?

From the videos, it shows that after you hit the "green phone" button, it takes you directly to "contacts." But, you can also rearrange the buttons at the bottom of the screen (favorites, recents, contacts, keypad, and voicemail) to any order you like.

Can you set the iphone so that when you press the green phone it takes you directly to favorites or recents, instead of contacts??

Just wondering if anyone who has an iPhone could post whether or not there is a ringtone tab in iTunes like people previously thought there might be? If so what's in it?

Unless I am looking at the wrong place there is only 6 tabs. Summary Info Music Photos PodCasts Video

If anyone here with an iphone wants to test the might of the PDF renderer, you can try this NYC subway map.

It's kinda pokey on older PPC machines, fairly zippy on my MBP.

Incidentally, do PDFs and assorted downloads get saved anywhere for later reference? I'm guessing not.

mine only has 6 tabs ... no ringtone ... yet :)

this phone is soooo cool heh i'm grinning from ear to ear.

In activation hades right now...

anyone got experience as to how long it took after saying you would get an email? I must say I am blown away though. Great phone all the way around visually.

Can someone with a gmail account please tell me how the hell to turn off retrieval of sent messages? How do I tell gmail to NOT send me sent messages over POP. I'm getting a copy of every message I send.

Not cool.

Just under 2 hours and still awaiting activation email. Would love to know why some were able to activate in under 3 minutes and i'm still sitting here with my thumb up my ass.

I'm an existing AT&T customer (old cingular). Keeping same plan, just opting for data plan. Told me during sign up any discounts we previously had no longer apply. Had to agree to that fact.

If anyone gets an email in a similar situation, would love to hear about it.

any duds? hows apple cc on this? better then the SR MBP? I would be so mad if i waited in line for hours and mine was a dud..... hahahahahaha

In your bottom 2 pictures, you seemed to have what looked like a transparent plastic plate about the same size as the iPhone... Do you mind telling us what that is, or is it just part of the packaging? Enjoy...

No.

This is a really dumb question but did you check the phone? I didn't get an email but my phone works fine.

Another Verizon...

Another Verizon switcher here. The email that said I needed to wait for activation was sent at 6:59pm, and it's now 8:41pm with no email. Phone is locked (except emergency calls), even though it says you should still be able to "enjoy the other features of your iPhone."

Kinda blows. Was the LAST person in the Sandusky Ohio AT&T Store to get an 8 Gig iPhone.

I'm enjoying sliding the little slider. At least I got THAT going for me......which is nice...

Yeah...no luck. Stuck on activation screen. I keep re-hooking it back up and letting itunes connect in hopes of kicking it in the ass.

I'm in the same boat, right down to the previous discounts not applying. Still waiting for my email.

Switching from T-Mobile took literally 4 minutes at the most for me. I still haven't received an email, but the phone had a message that said it was activated.

I am already sure this is the best electronic device I have ever owned. It's amazing.

Kina pokey

Accessing over WiFi... and it takes about 10 seconds to respond to the zoom in... although I see now obvious way to DL you can just keep it up in the browser...

A couple notes

typing is a lot faster than they show in the video (at least 1 handed). I'm currently using my middle finger and going fairly fast. Typos that result in a word suck - you have to just delete - there is no multiple options if you misspell something - just the 1.

Umm - syncing seems to take a very long time

Activation for me was, no lie, a 2-3 min process at most...

I've talked to a few people - one asked if I was on speaker phone (always hate to hear that) then I talked to another person and she said I sounded great. Then I tried the headphones and she said I sounded exactly the same as when I had the phone to my head! Awesome...

They didn't have the bluetooth device at my store but that's fine.

Also, if you have a business account you DO get to keep your accessory discount (just doesn't apply to anything Apple). AT&T told me wrong last night but the manager in store told me what the real situation was.

The cameria looks great - haven't had time to listen to music yet.

YouTube is pretty cool, sms is nice & fun.

Umm - that's all I've got for now. O - I've got it on WiFi. Will report back later with EDGE speed in south Fort Worth, tx.

Oh yeah - IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!

Also:

Speakerphone is great...playing music on it is actually not that bad. You can hear movies well too.

Issues:

Internet is only working intermittently for me on Wifi. Might be my settings.
Edge is working fine.

Youtube is rather slow on Edge. A lot of movies won't play and the ones that do look really crappy...

General Info for the West Coasters

I went to a ATT store.

30 total phones...

4 on demo...

They wouldn't tell me the amount until I was in the store...

Setup in store was quick, like 5 minutes...

Activation was quick about 5 minutes...

I showed up at three and was 10th in line... but then I was in a rural store on the outskirts of the city. (Milwaukee, WI)

First impressions so far... I'll tell you when I can pick my jaw off the ground.

:)
