I have an iphone 2g unlocked and jailbroken on cincinnati bell wireless and i have mms set up and works perfect with cinci bell as well but im really interested in the iphone 3g and i was wondering if it is even really worth it if i wont be able to use the 3g that cinci bell has on their network.. will gps at least work on 3g iphone with cinci bell? i have the 15 dollar monthly internet plan by the way

I need some help. A week or so ago I did the jailbreak and unlock and now using CBW on my iphone 3g running 3.0, but a few things aren't working right:

1. No call waiting. If I am on the phone, the new call goes directly to voicemail... Is this a problem where I need to change a setting on the phone, or have CBW make a change?

2. MMS - when I go to settings>messgaes, there is no option to turn MMS on.

3. No visual voicemail - maybe not available???

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks

I am not sure if my call waiting works either. I have been using the 3g on 3.0 as well.

I thought Iphone didnt do MMS?

Visual voicemail hasnt been an option for me either. I think it isnt supported with CBW...?

YouTube Trouble

I have a 3G on 3.0, jailbroken and cracked. Use CBW Edge.

I can load the YouTube App, but when i try to watch a video i get the message,

"The Server is not currently configure"

How do i solve this problem?

bought a 2g iphone.

is it free to use the wifi or do i still need to get the plan? like if i'm connected to my home wifi is it free like how my itouch is?

i called cbw and asked them this, and they basically said that i would need to get the $30 mnth plan since iphone is a smart phone. is this a lie, just trying to get more money out of me? could i just avoid the call to them and activate the 15 a month plan from the internet?

and is it unlimited data? a previous post said only 10mb. . . isnt there a 1000kb in 1 mb?

im currently on a plan where i get 500 kb a month, and that seems to fly pretty quickly.

I would think using wifi in your home is free. The data is only if you choose to get on the internet without wifi. The data plan i have is unlimited, and i think its $15 to $30??

Sharing information to all my fellow friends that have IPhones on CinBell

I am using an unlocked IPhone 3g running 3.0 firmware on Cincinnati Bell's network.

I have the $15 data plan and get unlimited text and data. No problems.

The 3G will not work on Cincinnati Bell's 3G network as it uses different bands. If you have a 3G simcard the 3G data speeds will work when you are roaming (ex. lexington)

I was also able to hack in to the MMS portion of the data packet to allow incoming and outgoing MMS.

Here are the settings to send and recieve mms running the new firmware.

Sometimes the MMS isn't flawless and you need to tap the "!" and hit try again. It works!

MMS settings work great. Just tried it. Thanks for posting!

Having trouble sending MMS. I keep trying to resend the "!" but no luck!

I double checked to make sure settings are as you described.

Does anyone know if Cincinnati Bell offers a data only option? Or do they force you to get a plan with minutes like T-Mobile does?

No internet access with cincinnati bell w/iphone

Ok, so I have been working on this all day and I reached a stand still. I unlocked my iphone, got it all set up with cincinnati bell. I am able to make and receive calls, and texts, however, I can't get online without connecting through wi-fi.

Cincinnati bell provided me with the APN info, but I can't get past the APN. I know to leave the user name and password blank, but the only other options are "Reset Settings". I have the original iphone 2g running firming 3.0.

Any suggestions?? I need it!

No, it is not a 3g. It's a 2g. Any advice from anyone??

Hello, I don't know if you still need the info, but I have Iphone 2G with Why Pay for 2 plan and no problems what so ever. I went to the local CB store and they were able to add data plan to the phone.

Does anyone have the iPhone on their Why Pay for Two plan?

Not yet, but I plan on it soon. We already have Zoomtown at home, so it makes sense with me having an iPhone and all. I was under the impression that the mobile part of WhyPayForTwo was a stand-alone plan by itself. I guess you have to have a plan through them already and the WhyPayForTwo is just an add-on to it, right?

iphone 3Gs on cinci bell

What are the capabilities of an iPhone 3Gs on cincinnati bell if you unlock it, use a regular sim card, and have a blackberry data plan?

That's about right. We just signed up with CB and are on the WPF2 plan. Basically you need to have Zoomtown Advantage (the plan that comes with 25GB storage) and a smart phone. Under the current promo it's actually free (depending upon how you look at it) for the first phone and $20 (I believe) for each additional phone. Includes unlimited data and texting. Voice minutes, of course, are additional.

On a related note, I'm about to return the Nokia 5800 (before the 30 days is up) to CB as soon as my unlocked, jailbroken, 3G arrives. Info on Iphones with CB is pretty scarce so a big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Makes it easier for noobs like myself to push ahead and take the plunge. Hoping it's as simple as dropping the SIM card in and going. If not, I'll be back here lickety-split.

So you have to have a voice plan before signing up for the Whypayfortwo?

Not necessarily. My understanding is that you could do something like Zoomtown Advantage, plus one of their premium home phone packages and get the WPF2. My understanding is that essentially you need to bundle at least 2 services, and one of them must be Zoomtown Advantage. Also need smart phone obviously. My wife and I were planning on getting the voice plan anyway so we didn't really dig too deep into all the if/then scenarios.

"roaming?"

hey guys, i was wondering if anyone could comment on any experience using an iPhone with CBW outside of their native coverage area.

I know this means roaming but domestically there is no additional charge and you operate primarily with AT&T and T-Mobile...others if these aren't available (Centennial, Cellular One, etc). However, since AT&T is the preferred roaming partner, can you boot up an iPhone in another city and have it successfully register with AT&T as a CBW device? I feel like AT&T has the ability to identify all iPhones when they register with their network. So, if you have an iPhone coming in as a CBW roaming device it wants to deny it because all iPhones are supposed to be with AT&T.

I bring this up because I had a 2G that i got to work just fine in Cincinnati. Now, I have a 3G with 3.01 and it searches for service for about 5 minutes and then reads "no service" but, I'm not in Cincinnati at the moment and this is the first time I'm trying it. this is the only think i can think of because you guys seem to report that the 3G and 3GS work fine on CBW (obv just EDGE, no UMTS).

any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

btw, iPhone + CBW = best price plan on the planet...~$60/mo for 450 minutes and unl text & data!

So, I am having the same MMS problem as another using.

I have a 3G unlocked/jailbroken on Cincinnati Bell and everything is working just fine except for receiving MMS messages.

I can send them from my phone and people receive them properly however, when I use another phone to send myself a message I do not receive anything.

I will even get the text portion but not the photo...

Any ideas of how to correct this?

Thanks for the help,
Tony

I am about to get an iphone 3gs from a friend and i just have a couple questions.(Sorry I'm a noob)
1. I have a 3g sim card, will this work in the 3gs? or do i need to do something else.
2. I have the unlimited texting/data for $15, will that work for the internet or not.
3. When I get the 3gs after I unlock it, do I need to do anything other than just stick the simcard in? or is there anything else you do to get everything working.
Thanks so much!

Cincinnati Bell GPS problems

I've had an iPhone on Cincinnati Bell for the past year and a half. I had the 2g iPhone with the 500 minute nationwide plan, unlimited text and data for $15 extra a month, and I've never had problems with it. I've never had problems with the internet or anything, except maps. Sometimes the phone couldnt triangulate my position at all, but downloading maps enhancer from cydia fixed the problem.

I just sold that phone two weeks ago and bought a 3g. When I got the 3g the GPS worked fine, and stopped working the next day. I upgraded to 3.1.2, unlocked it, and tried again. This didn't help either. I got the 3g sim card, and still nothing. I tried maps enhancer, still nothing. I also tried pushfix, through cydia, because it claimed it would fix GPS as well, but it didn't. I have mms and tethering working with all the proper APN information, but it doesnt help my GPS problem.

Just when I'd given up hope on the GPS ever working, it kicked in and found me within a few feet of my actual position. After it working for about an hour, it said I was about a quarter of a mile away, and it was the blinking GPS marker, not the triangulation estimate. Then it just went back to triangulation.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice, or if anyone has had similar problems with Cincinnati Bell? I can still get the estimated position just fine, but the GPS was one of the main reasons I upgraded. I need it for work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jailbroken iPhone + CBW + Google Voice

Thanks to all who have posted on this thread. It is all extremely valuable and helpful. Just wondering if anyone has done all of the above PLUS they use Google Voice. Any stories to tell on your experience with that configuration? Tips? Pitfalls?
