Wow, an event in just a few days. Awesome, can't wait to see what 4.0 holds :)

Multiple User accounts for your iPhone?

I think they were thinking more along the lines of multiple user accounts for the iPad.

Since they only do updates once a year, $10 for a new software upgrade once a year isn't going to break the bank.

We don't know what the price will be for the iPad, only that 4.0 will be free. Once 5.0 comes out, they could charge differently than what they charge for an iPod touch.

The biggest thing I want is a new way to organize the homescreen. My homescreen browsing experience is looking a little cluttered these days...

Hoping for a leaner OS. A Snow Leo redo of the entire OS is a must at this point. To many bugs from 1.x, 2.x and the 3.x series OS. Please Apple, make this a clean-up revision!

Well it has been in development for quite awhile if thats any consolation.

I'm glad they didn't send the invites out too early.

Imagine: "Come see the new iPhone OS - June 8th 2010"

That would kill me!

Only 3 days! YES!

What a great news. The hype about the iPad isn't even over yet that we get official news about the OS 4 already!

I'd say:
1. Multitasking
This seems pretty obvious. Everyone is asking for this feature since the release of the first iPhone.
I'd say we would get all the apps by pressing the home button for two seconds (since two times open the calls or the iPod)

2. New unlock feature
Entering numbers is boring, especially when you see this great unlocking feature:

It's easy and fast to unlock your phone with it, kind of like the "Apple way".

3. New dock
I am talking about the bottom gray area with the four icons. It seems outdated. I think that we could see the same dock as it is on the iPad and on Mac OS X.

4. Favourite people on the main screen
I think that it's pretty obvious that they will add the ability to add people on the main screen of the iPhone.

5. Bing instead of Google by default
Just kidding, I really hope we won't get Bing! :p

Multiple User accounts for your iPhone?

Multiple user accounts for the iPad would be most useful. I would like to be able to hand an iPad over to a guest in my house both knowing that they can't sneak into my private stuff or mess it up. And of course some people would have two users on the same iPad. I guess an iPhone is more of a private thing that you wouldn't hand over anyway, but some people would.

I'm guessing there will be new iphones that actually detach in the middle to create two smaller screens. These are then placed in special eye glass frames for viewing 3D movies.

The 2eye iphone 3G/D.

This software is all for that.

Cool! I hope it doesn't slow my iPhone gen 1 to a crawl.

Multitasking will be good. But what a shocker: all those people who defended its lack as a brilliant design decision to keep the iPhone OS simple aren't marking this story negative!! Wow, what a surprise!

Multitasking + UI Refresh

The User Interface needs a dramatic refresh! Aside from that, Multitasking is the largest requested feature that is not currently available in the iPhone OS. It seems that Multitasking is the latest feature competitors are poking fun at Apple for missing. Multitasking would be a great addition to iPhone OS 4.0. The UI has become cluttered since launch. I'll leave this up to Apple. Including an Expose-like feature should do the trick!

Remember how everybody expected the iPad to start at $800 (and possibly $999)? The whiners complained that was too high a price! It need to be sub-$600, or maybe sub-$500 to have any chance in the marketplace!

iPad came out at $499. Whiners immediately switched their argument. Now it was $499 that was too expensive, and the price had to be dropped to netbook levels to have any chance in the marketplace!

For the whiners, some of them anyway, it's not about facts on the ground. It's about picking a side and sticking to it no matter what. So Apple could add multitasking and Flash and every single thing asked for to-date, and what would happen the very next day?

Right, the whiners would flood this site with some other complaint.

...Or they could still complain that it took Apple so long!

They really need to up their game with this update. The OS is starting to look a bit dated compared to other competitive mobile OS's.

One thing makes me wonder...

If they are going to update the iPad with 4.0, why would they put so much effort into the 3.2 OS that's only going to be on the device for a few months? All the developers were scrambling around to get their apps ready for 3.2 before launch. It seems harsh to turn around and make them do it all over again for 4.0.

Apple did exactly this with 10.4 for x86, and then releasing 10.5 a couple months later.

Google Maps Navigation, anyone? I'm not sure about you, but that's at the very top of my list.

No, that won't make sense. Apple describes the MacBook as a "mobile device".

Are you sure? I thought it was a "portable" not necessarily a mobile device.

I think if they want to show the distinction they should do:
Mac OS X Desktop
Mac OS X Server
Mac OS X Touch

i agree with everyone saying a new home screen, first off a 3-d dock like ipad and second a pic behind my icons. I doubt they will put in themes like the droid but it would be cool. Also like everyone else in the world multitasking would be awesome but it does drain batery life ( once again like the droid my friend has it and he drains his battery fast) like the post said it would be cool for it to be expose-like. And defiantly a way better google maps navigation the current one sucks! NOW ALL MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE A DROID THAT SAY THERE PHONE IS BETTER I CAN BE LIKE ******* U GUYS!!!:D
