I'm after a black 16gb tried Southampton this morning having checked the Apple retail site last night which said they'd have them. Got there 30mins before opening and there were three other people queuing. They started letting people in soon after and staff said there were no black 16gb. I did tell them the retail site said they would but they just said that was probably yesterday and hadn't been updated. Contemplated getting the white but decided against it.

Might try Regent Street tomorrow but really not sure if I can be bothered anymore. I think if the Apple retail site said they had them at Regent Street, I went and they didn't I would probably boycott Apple for good.

I've spoken to Bluewater and they said they won't have any black 16gb until at least Monday.

This whole thing has been a farce. Apple just seemed to have rushed out the product without having enough stock. That or they completely underestimated the demand for them.

Got my 16Gb white today at Apple Regent St. They ran out of black 16Gb very early on (around 10.30am). I was told they'd used their stock of black 16Gb to replenish O2 stores, so I'd hold off making a special trip there for it. They are expecting a fresh delivery on Monday morning.

The queue was at least 3 and a half hours long, though once I got to an apple employee it took less than 20 to get everything set up and activated. The person he served before me took three hours to activate, wouldn't have fancied being there for 5 hours plus.

Not to rub anyone's face in it but I thought I would post my iPhone buying experience.

Left it a week to for the craziness to calm down, called my local O2 store yesterday and asked if they had any 16GB models in stock. Guy told me that had about 9 or 10. About an hour later I made it over to the shop and there was no queue. Straight to one of the sales reps who sorted me out with the 16GB model and I swear I was 10 minutes in total in the shop, all security and credit checks passed.

Came home, plugged it into my machine, and within 30 seconds it was activated via iTunes

Honestly, I don't know what all the fuss has been about :cool:

Any news on when I can upgrade to a white one from O2. Its soo annoying that Apple store bluewater has whites in stock, BUT, i cant get it from there, I have to get it from O2, who dont have any... This is soo stupid.

positivecode and notsofatjames, you are lucky - that most certainly isn't the case in the south of England, all the O2/CPW stores are just selling out as soon as they get them in.

Positivecode is a jammy *******!

I ordered mine in store on the 11th. Have got confirmation it'll be delivered on Monday.

I wish I had you patience, probably could've got one somewhere else by now too!

Went to Regent St. Apple shop this afternoon (Sat) at 4.40 pm. About 1 hour wait. Got the one I wanted 16 GB white, once it was my turn only took 15 min to process my signup. BTW, no black 16 GB in stock there when I was there.

I called all the O2 stores in my local area today. None of them had stock, despite being on the list. So I figured they must still be receiving stock.

I called Tunbridge Wells again at about 10:45am. They had just received their stock, including black 16 GB (which is the one I want to get). As soon as they told me I ran out the door with my boss in tow (she wanted the same one) and off we go to the O2 store. I was driving so I dropped her off, she ran inside, no queue, got her phone, started transaction. I parked the car, ran into the store, asked for 16 GB iPhone 'Sorry this lady (pointing at my boss) just got the last one'. I had to seriously restrain myself from spontaneously combusting. So I walked out empty handed but I'm happy for her.

Grrrrr, if they only managed to keep stock for 45 mins (I was lucky on timing - its a 35 min drive for me to Tunbridge Wells), I don't see how I'm ever going to get my hands on this treasured 16GB iPhone without some serious hassle.

They did have plenty of 8GB phones everywhere I called. GRRRRRRR

Went to the 02 store in cardiff earier, around 10-30 and they had iphones in stock. I now have a 16gb black iPhone, yey finally!

If I upgrade from my original iPhone in-store at an O2 shop what documentation do I need to take with me?

Well after much deliberation I caved like the gadget junkie whore I am ...

Got myself a lovely new iPhone in Glasgow this morning.... Hope TOMTOM come through....

Well I went round at least 8 O2 shops in London this morning and still failed to find a 16Gb. I could have bought an 8Gb in most of the shops, some didn't even have queues.

There seemed to have been quite a lot delivered today around London but I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time ie. I live round the corner from the Holloway Rd store, according to the O2 website they had "stock as of opening time on the 21st", but when I got there 5 min after opening they didn't have any nor had had any. When I popped back in there at lunchtime of course they had had a delivery and there was a queue but all the 16Gb's had already gone.

I guess with a lot of London deliveries today they won't be getting any tomorrow so there's not a lot of point me going 16Gb hunting tomrrow? Anyone got a feeling for delivery prospects tomorrow or have a hot tip on where to find a 16Gb (in an O2 shop) in London?

I managed to get a black 8gb from o2 in sunderland on friday afternoon after seeing the stock update on o2's website. Walked in asked if they had any left and was told I got the last one!! Whole process took about 30 mins to upgrade.

Ideally wanted a 16gb but in the whole time of my old iPhone I never filled the 8gb with music so figured i didn't need it.

Whole process was fairly painless - I'm glad i waited now but I'm very pleased with new phone.

I would say that if you have the time, go for it. IE if you aren't having to take days off work or anything like that.

OH. MY. GOD! FINALLY! I finally managed to get my 16GB black iPhone this morning, from O2 in Reading.

The O2 website was updated while I was in the shower this morning. I discovered Reading and Southampton both had stock listed and so I hedged my bets on Reading and took a run/train/powerwalk up there! I must have looked like Kel from Kath & Kim. There were about five people ahead of me in the queue. The guys in the store said they had about 10 left at the time, so I was very lucky to get my grubby mitts on one.

O2 are deliberately dribbling out what stock they have left. Not being a games console buyer or someone who has children that need Christmas presents every year, I have now finally had first hand experience of how companies can throttle production/distribution in order to maintain demand. Whatever happened to customer service?!

Yayayayay. Was able to pick up a 16Gb iPhone from an o2 store in Glasgow today. :D I'm so happy I finally have a phone, I sold my original one a couple of days before Jobs made the announcement at WWDC.

What's the O2 3G/EDGE reception like in the Portadown area?
When I was back there (Portadown/Armagh Road) recently with my Three mobile data coverage was non-existent.

3G is not bad in Portadown but I have some serious questions about the iPhone 3G and it's reception which fluctuates wildly from 1 to 5 bar, dropping 3G and Edge, no signal then back to full bar all in the space of 2 minutes. Something seriously wrong here. I've also had what sounds like scrambled reception when I try to make a call

Availability looks good on the Apple site for tomorrow (just changed system time to see). What chance do you think I'll have if I turn up at around 1pm for a 16Gb Black?

I phoned the o2 store in croydon and they told me they had some but there was a queue for them, so I didnt bother going into get them. boo i want my upgrade!
