Apple birmingham is great for iphones. in stock every day and they have loads of white ones which is even better!!!!

Does anyone know how stock of 16GB blacks is at the Regent Street Apple store? I'm planning on making a special three hour round trip tommorrow, and although the iPhone stock checker site says they have stock i don't trust it!

Anybody?

Anyone else wondering what O2 can do to top the fiasco of the 11th, for this friday (25th)'s new stock re-up?

I'm wondering if there will be a decent amount of queueing come Friday.

What scares me about Friday's 're-stock' is that O2 is saying they will have considerably more stock starting on Friday 25th of July. That's all nice and well, but what does that mean exactly. Are they expecting to have enough units to actually supply the demand? Or will they just keep dripping them in like they've been doing all week.

It would be fantastic to call a store in the morning and be told that they have 100 16GB iPhone in stock so it didn't matter when I came to get mine. Rather than 'we have 10 in stock and can't guarantee they will still be here when you arrive'.

Don't get my wrong, I really want an iPhone but repeated rushed trips to O2 stores in my area, every one resulting in coming just too late, have put me off the idea of chasing this dream and I'm probably just going to wait it out at this stage.

Carphone Warehouse are stating they will have stock in stores tomorrow.

Order Apple iPhone today and have it delivered on 25th July. Stock available in stores on 24th July. Please check with your local store.

I ordered a 16GB (for delivery, I'm not a fan of queuing). I got the order in within 10 minutes of them starting to take orders today, so hopefully I'll have it on Friday.

Ring them - if only! Perhaps it's just me having bad luck - but I've tried calling Regent Street and Kingston re stock and queues a few times this week and haven't been able to talk to anyone. (Phone just rings out or number is unavailable)

Are you upgrading from an existing iPhone contract? It seems the online option is only for new customers.

No, I'm a new customer.

The tracking status now says:

Your order contains an item which is out of stock. We will deal with your order as soon as possible.. Your order should arrive on Thu, 24 Jul 2008.

I think they're a little confused.

I upgraded my existing iPhone via CPW by phoning their sales number which they gave on their online ordering form... phone arrived the next day :)

I just bought a 16gb version from Carphone Warehouse online, hopefully it's delivered prompt on Friday since I won't be at home.

I got a 16gb iPhone 3G from an o2 store in Manchester on Monday.

The trick is to be ready to race to the store ASAP.

1. Check the o2 website every hour, it usually updates around 10-12 on the day they get a delivery.

2. Ring the store(s) every morning around 9.

3. Be ready to leave as soon as you ring and they confirm they have stock.

Hey guys,

I'm planning on getting a white one from Apple Store regent street tomorrow if they have stock,

Bring photo ID, a household bill and a credit card. It's unlikely you'll need to bill or the ID but it will definitely help. Don't turn it into a wasted trip!

Awesome, thanks! :) Definitely don't wanna waste the trip, i'm in Swindon so its a good 2 hours from my house to the apple store!

I'm only a student, so i don't have a household bill really, but i've got my T-Mobile bill and credit/bank card statements.. Hopefully that'll be enough!?

Yeah that'll be fine. It's just that if you're buying the iPhone (not upgrading, which you cant do at an Apple store) I think they require you to pay by card. And because you're starting a contract they'll want some ID.

Enjoy the new phone

Thanks! Just hope they have stock! - I'm sure ill be back tomorrow, i'm actually going to the iTunes London Festival: McFly gig tomorrow night too, so its a good apple day!

Am I right in thinking that Apple retail stores open up the box and activate it in store, whereas O2 stores don't touch the box and let you do it at home?

I have a follow up question to this one: Will they leave it alone on request?! Half the fun of new gadgets for me is the unboxing and setup :(

Hi all,

Just back from Regent Street, and thought this might help some of you:-

- stock: they seemed quite confident that they would have enough stock to meet demand. However, they did say that they were starting to run low on the black 16Gb model.

- queues: I started at 11.30am. Queue starts upstairs (seated), and any extra is accommodated downstairs by the stairs. I started in a queue of about 10 downstairs, and was upstairs in about 15 minutes. I queued for just over an hour in total, and then the activation/setup took about 20-30 minutes. It seems that if your details are non-standard in any way, they need to phone up O2. Otherwise, it shouldn't take much more than 15 minutes.

- what to bring: as much as possible! Take passport, driving license, utility bills. Make sure you have something with your address on (bank statement). I saw about 5 people try to join the queue without the necessary paperwork. If the queue is short you'll be kicking yourself!

Any other questions, I'll do my best to help.

Oh brilliant! Thanks for that, gives me confidence they'll have it when i arrive tomorrow (about 11am!). Did they give the option to just take the box and activate at home? I guess not, because the price varies on the plan, so they probably want to set you up there, but it would be awesome to do it myself.
