Regarding the credit check question, it looks like the upgrade program works by giving you a no-interest loan through their "bank partner," but the payments every month are charged to whatever credit card you give them (as opposed to being in a separate statement). They have more information available now than they did on preorder day (http://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/iphoneupgrade_us/). I can see why that's not exactly like a standard credit check.

Doesnt say anything about a hard pull or even looking at your credit. Unless I missed it

I wonder why they are doing it this way? I don't have an issue with it, but it seems cumbersome for them. Is it a quicker process for them?

I wonder how they check you have enough credit line to pay 3 payments. Will they do an authorization hold? Are they going to try and maintain a permanent authorization hold of 3 payments?

I'm not one to get a new phone every year, but unless they surprise me with something during my appt., I'm going to give this Upgrade Program a try, because I just don't see the downside, especially give that Verizon is giving me nothing. I'll have to pay a $40 new device fee (grrr), but the lack of a contract, the ability to pay the phone off early, and yes, the fillip of a new phone when the 7 comes out and being able to do an easy phone-for-phone trade (instead of me right now trying to determine how I can get the best price for my 5 and wasting a lot of time) is worth at least a year of regular credit card payments. And if I wait for 2 years, then I lose nothing.

I'm printing out my email for the visit and hopefully they'll have some kind of organization that makes sense (I'm trying to figure out how they're going to do this in my local store without it being mayhem. I'm leaving an hour and 45 minutes for the entire process; it better not take longer because I'll have to get going.

One thing I did note that everyone should remember is that if you don't have your current address on your drivers license then they want you to bring in a utility bill to prove your address.

For those who preordered and made a reservation, do you see anything under "orders" or "my reservations" in your apple account? I see nothing besides the email confirmation I got on preorder night. Is that normal?

I don't see anything under orders. I just have my reservation email.

I too am wondering what the credit criteria ( good/fair/bad or a specific number ) would be the minimum for approval or denial for this program. Normally when you apply for loans they do not ask for a specific card type or exclude bank debit cards.

I'm in that boat. You think some other bill would suffice? I'm not on our utilities. I have car insurance, storage unit, credit card etc.

I asked an Apple support person about this and they said that is how it's being done this time - no confirmation number or anything, just that email... seems strange.

Does anyone have an idea which credit agency score they might look into to check eligibility? Transunion/equifax/fico?

Yeah, that's so weird. I would feel a lot better with a confirmation number or something...

People. For those of us buying in store...all we've done is reserve a time slot to purchase the phone, we have not purchased a phone yet. We aren't going to have a confirmation number or order history yet. We have not bought anything. We got an email confirmation of our reservations...done. You're not going to get anything else until Sept 25th when you walk in to buy your phone.

I'm going to do this option but it seems like the "reserved your iPhone" is all sold out around me. Can someone tell me when Apple updates the store inventory online? I forgot. Last year and prior years when I reserved a phone online I have to check every night when Apple would update the inventory. I just forgot what time it was. If someone could remind me please? Thanks.

If you used the reservation through the iPhone UP link, since it didn't ask for your shipping info or your credit card info so therefore it won't appear in that system.

If you paid for the device and placed a reservation and asked for your shipping and your CC info then those will appears on orders.

I wouldn't worry about it too much as the confirmation e-mail will be a proof that you placed a reservation for it.

I was trying to pre-order the iphone6s and I am on ATT and I don't see a 2 year contract option anywhere. When I go to the ATT website and log in, I see that 1 of the lines is eligible for an upgrade and it gives me the choice of the ATT next plan or the 2 year contract. Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Also, I just found out about the Apple upgrade plan, is it better than the carrier upgrade plans if someone upgrades every year?

Apple no longer offers the 2 year contract for AT&T and can only be done at AT&T website or their store.

Ok I just did it. I cancelled my AT&T Subsidy orders, and we are going with the iPhone Upgrade Program. No contract locks with the iPhone plan, an unlocked phone.

I hope I'm making the right call.

Thanks for confirming, I also got the same response from apple chat. I want to use the apple upgrade program, but in my area the 6s+ and the size and color I am looking for is not available? Do you guys think I should check it every night now or once the phone is released?

You could keep checking or just wait till the 25th and check to see if they have more in stock then.

Hi I paid in full for a iPhone 6s + AT&T on the Apple Store to ship. I did not know about the iPhone upgrade program at the time of purchase. Do you think it would be possible to return the iPhone at the Apple Store and buy the same iPhone I returned back on the iPhone upgrade plan? I am not sure the AT&T full price iPhone is the same as the unlocked that is offered with the iPhone upgrade program?
