I also spoke with s rep that told me that the only thing needed is a valid credit card with 3 months of installments.
Are they going to charge 3 months in advance, or just do a verification hold (which expires in about a week)? Not too difficult to make sure you have $120 in credit line or bank balance to cover it.

I believe they are charging the first payment along with the tax for the phone and AC+.

Most likely just an authorization hold, I see nothing anywhere in all the literature Apple has released that they will charge 3 months upfront.

If we don't qualify for the iPhone upgrade program, can an AT&T authorized user sign up for next plan

I think taxes are due at time of pickup

That complicates the equation if u are paying full taxes on a $659-949 item that's spread over 24 months payment.

So u turn phone in in 12 months. And "rebuy " for 24 more months. U get hit with the same full taxes on the $649-949 phone again.

With normal car leases (with option to buy after lease). With exception of Maryland , Texas and Illinois (not many other states). U are only responsible for lease monthly tax payments.

If ordering using the Apple Upgrade Program, will Verizon still charge the $40 upgrade fee to a current customer out of contract? I would think not since it should be considered bringing my own device, right? Just trying to manage expectations and I've not seen a definitive answer on this.

The difference is that this is legally a financing agreement. You keep the phone at the end of the term. It's not an option. For leases, most states allow tax collection on payments, but for financing agreements you're just buying the product up front and happen to agree to pay for it over time.

What I'm hoping to do is simply put the SIM from my current phone into my new phone. There shouldn't be an activation charge for that, as far as I understand it.

There shouldn't be an activation charge for it on the carrier side at all. But what I suspect that Apple will do a SIM swap. Not a physical one but change the SIM that is in your account, which will disable the old SIM when you activate the new phone.

I wouldn't see why not. It doesn't make sense if you can't put a down payment. You can make extra payment once you leave the store.

I can't remember where, but I read that any time after the 6th payment, you can pay extra, or pay off the phone entirely if you choose.

I hope so because I have Next upgrade eligibility on one of my lines.
If you're the main account holder you're find. I've called apple about the authorized user and some say yes and at the sametime I got the feeling they weren't sure what I was talking about

Who actually sells on eBay. I know some people do, but I do not know these people haha. Swappa or craigslist!

I sell lots on eBay, and have been since 1998. Never had an issue. The 10% in fees, to me, is worth the buyer/seller protection eBay and PayPal include in the transaction. I've sold every iPhone I've ever had since 2007 on eBay, as well as a couple of iPods and iPads. Never a problem, and there's a huge audience and potential buyer pool.

With craigslist, you're literally taking your life in your hands. I have no intention of ever meeting in person or exchanging cash to conduct a transaction - it can be very dangerous.

Slightly OT, but that changed in Illinois this year for car leases. We just pay tax on the monthly portion for the duration of the car lease.

On the iPhone, perhaps what happens on a "trade-in" next year is that you just pay sales tax on the incremental cost. Since Apple is a re-seller, they may be able to buy it back "tax free" similar to what happens when you trade in a car that you own (vs. a lease).

This is why my husband conducts the sale!!! 6'1" 300lbs and packing heat! Never had a problem, lol :)

I am coming into this late but read a few of the earlier posts. My math shows that that this plan is 0 apr for 2yrs with the option to start over every year with a new phone. So you have just paid around $400 to use the phone each year.

So the question is do the iPhones lose $400 in value each year.

I'd say yes. First, no one is taking into account that the cost of the 6 and 6 Plus has dropped by 100 bucks. Second, taxes are almost 100 bucks. If you purchased AppleCare+, that's another 100 bucks. I sold my 128GB 6 Plus with AppleCare+ for a little over $700.00 on CL. I 'lost' about $400.00. They're going for a bit more on eBay, but after eBay and PayPal fees, it's roughly the same (possibly less).

Looking at Swappa, the average is just above $700 for a 128GB 6 Plus. Seller pays shipping + $10.00 Swappa fee + PayPal fees. So a loss of $400 or more seems about right across the board.

That works! Sadly, I'm a 5'1" single lady. :)

Yea I am tiny too!!! So I have to wait and make sure he is available to come with me, lol!!! If it weren't for him, yea I wouldn't be doing any CL transactions! I don't do ANY of that stuff without him....don't trust people!!

Not sure if this was discussed earlier. But I have 2 reservations, and they both show up as regular price. I was freaking out because I want to do the Apple Upgrade Program. I was at the mall last night and asked a few of the different Apple workers. They told me it would not be a problem.
