While this is true, you will not be able to trade in your ATT NEXT phone and will you are still on the hook to pay off the remainder of your ATT NEXT commitment. So, you can have a second phone (with installment plan) through the Apply Upgrade Program, but you cannot replace your ATT NEXT installment contract with the Apple Upgrade Program.
Correct! They are separate, but of course if you are still on the hook for an existing phone then you would need to pay up!

Meanwhile, I'll be selling my 6+ that I purchased subsidized 1 year ago and go with the Apple Plan :)

Of course you would have to a sap to trade in your phone anyway as you would getting far less for it than if you sold it yourself.

so my question is if i get a new line from AT&T that is mobile share plan $45/month 300mb internet. do they check credit for that? and if i want to cancel it how much time do i have to cancel it in order to get full refund?

I have a question that might be unanswerable, but I'll give it a shot. For my in store reservation appointment I plan to go for the iPhone Upgrade Program to get my 6s+. However, if for some reason I don't pass credit check muster my fall back plan is to use the available upgrade on one of my lines, which will require a $299.60 payoff of the installment agreement. If I fail credit check can I immediately go to my AT&T account online, payoff the installment agreement and switch to using my AT&T upgrade during my reservation appointment? Thanks for any thoughts on this!

I thought Apple wasn't doing AT&T subsidized upgrades anymore. Don't you have to do those directly with AT&T?

Next upgrades are still available on the Apple.com site and in store.

Oh ok then yes it can be done instead of the upgrade program. Whether they will wait for you while you pay off the agreement is another story.

Good point. I'm sure I can use my iPad to pay it off in under 2 minutes.

This is on the confirm email FAQ:

Can I change the iPhone Upgrade Program to a different purchase option?

You can also purchase your iPhone through carrier financing or at full price. Ask a Specialist in store for more information.

Yeah I'm sure they will work with you if its that quick.

Yes, but if you cancel you have to pay off the phone completely. Why cancel?

you didnt understand my question. what i am asking is that can i just set up a line with at&t in apple store and get the phone? and afterwards cancel the line and keep on paying for the phone and use some other sim in it!

No, because the phone will be locked to AT&T until you pay the full balance of the phone.

Not with the Apple program. Just with NEXT.

Agreed, but he seemed to be asking about Next. Or, I could have misunderstood.

I'm checking with AT&T now to determine if Next payoffs are instantaneous for making a new upgrade available.

I am still a little confused on this and wonder if I have to wait until next year to jump on this Apple Upgrade program.

I pre-ordered a 6s+ on pre-order night through ATT NEXT 24 month program. It is set to ship on 9/25.

Once I get the phone, am I too late to join this upgrade program to be able to upgrade every year?

You may have to return the phone and get one from Apple. By doing it through next, you committed to att and not Apple. There should be a return policy but you may have to wait depending on the model you got

Depends on if you preordered through Apple or AT&T. If Apple it may be possible, but you'll need to make an appt to bring it to a store. If AT&T it will probably be tough without canceling and reordering.

I pre-ordered through Apple.

I guess the problem would be the delay in getting an Apple Upgrade phone versus my ATT phone?

You're not essentially too late, but my guess (emphasis on guess) is that you'd have to return the AT&T Next phone and re-order. And, in previous years Apple Stores didn't take returns from online sales for the iPhone.

Why would there be a delay? Once it's delivered to you just go to apple. I'd try contacting them now to find out if it's possible.
