That was also my understanding. I have all my credit reports frozen, and failed verification twice. I unfroze Equifax and it went through.

Strange. Mine are all frozen and it went through first try. All of that is such a mess though so results may very.

I know we loved that feeling of opening a new phone but every time someone buys one tells Apple that we are OK with this - the only thing that makes this somewhat affordable is the installment plans - otherwise what's the market for $1200 phones OUTSIDE the US?

Sure enough they had the wrong SSN on file. I have no idea how my loan went through last year. So after spending a half hour on the phone with Apple they told me to apply again with the correct SSN. And now I have to email them a copy of my SS card.

What number did you call to check this? 1800MYAPPLE? If so, what option did you pick? I'm getting Match Not Found on my SSN.

I just refuse to play this game now. I will wait until I can walk into a store and buy it over the counter (if Apple stores had counters...) and ditto future releases. I used to feel I wanted the new phones "immediately". I well remember scouring Singapore for days one October to find a 5S. Now I am older and, I think, wiser, I just can't be bothered. It does not matter to feel I have the latest the soonest any more.

I’m in the upgrade program but my number has been ported over to my company’s business account, which makes my upgrade program GG.

Yep... this just made my decision for me... guess I am paying full price.

I wanted to start the upgrade program so I could get the new phone next year(which hopefully has no notch), but the fact that it has to go through a credit approval at the same time as ordering the phone... NOPE! not gonna risk the extra time and server complication it will take. I'll keep my 830 point credit score clear of a loan for a dumb phone.
