Received the email as well about an hour ago. Preordered through apple.com around 1:30 on the 15th from Seattle. Now waiting in Oregon for it to arrive. My applestore order status and Fedex delivery have said the 24th since the beginning. So naturally Im quite stoked to receive confirmation from apple that I will be enjoying my shiny new iphone on the 23rd and avoid the 24th craziness all together!!

To all the nay sayers... I will gladly post pics upon the delivery on the 23rd if and when it shows.(as I'm sure many will do) And do you people really think this is some kind of mass slip up from apple? Or some form of comfort only for them to still hold the phones until the 24th? Im pretty sure apples main goal is not to jerk us around about when our investment in their company will be showing up. If I'm wrong not a big deal. I still get to sit at home all day on the 24th working on all the sculpture projects I had to put off until break and wait for my phone to be delivered to my doorstep. Tough life!!!

Right, much like apple would never leave seams on a device...

I never doubted that, but milking the press is what Apple does best. The people in line will be interviewed. Do you think Apple would rather have them say "How do you feel about being one of the first in the world to have this device?" or "How does it feel to be wasting your time on a device that people have had since yesterday?"

Apple would never do something like this. They want news paper headlines to read "Apple sells millions of iPhones as pre-orders are rushed around the country." They wouldn't want people to get the phone early and ruin the exclusive feel that those people waiting in line get.

Again you will be proven wrong on wednesday. For one, people will lose that exclusive feel if they can't activate it when they get it. All the other iPhones have had activation problems on day 1, so this is to prevent this. No company would ever send an email telling people they need to be prepared to sign for a package on a day early if it weren't absolutely the case. People are taking off work, and making specific plans to be there to sign for their package.

I guarantee Apple would prefer "Apple ships iPhone 4 a day early to some consumer to ensure a fast activation for all in-store on the 24th."

As opposed to:

"Apple servers continue to crash as everyone tries to activate iPhone 4 both in-store and at home. Reminds us previous launches and pre-order."

Just sayin..

It makes more sense to let people have them a day early to ease the load on the activation servers. Apple will sell millions launch day as well, the lucky few who got through to pre-order won't take away from the long lines and television interviews.

WHEN is this new going on the front page? Engadget beat MacRumors to the punch nearly an hour ago on this.

Whats funny is that in addition to getting this emailed to them by readers, Engadget also recieved it from Apple for their order.

I just got mine too. This is gonna be crazy - I'm having mine delivered to the office so my entire department is gonna be jealous.

Pending it all goes well, I'm absolutely stoked about heading to the local Apple store on the 24th to grab someone out of the non-reservation line and give them my reservation (in case anyone gets pissed, I reserved BEFORE I successfully pre-ordered. I kept my reservation just in case anything went wrong. Now I'm happy to give it up.)

The only problem with the email I see is this:

"...you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd..."

I hope It's true!!

Just got the mail as well about an hour ago. I hope so.

Leaving town on the 24th for 5 days, but was going to have Fedex hold it until I got back. I really wanted to have it for the trip though, headed to San Diego from Seattle. Would be nice to have the phone for mapping, directions, etc... Used to have a BB for work, and as crappy as that wa I miss having all that info, emails, etc.. at my fingertips.

Just have an old flip phone for now. I've been holding out the last 5 months for my T-Mob contract to be up and this iphone to be released.

I bet Fedex, Apple, and AT&T realize life will be easier for all if they start delivering phones on the 23rd.
Curious how Fedex is staffed this time of year? 600K iphones is like 30% of their avg. daily express pkg. volume. It's over 100% of their avg. international express volume. According to this info. :

I almost have a hard time imagining entire plane loads of iphones, but that is definitely what's in the air right now.

Mine's In Anchorage, AK for now. Too bad they can't make a quick stop in Seattle to drop it off :). Psyched to finally get a real phone, and hoping it makes it on the 23rd for my vacation.

For what store did you reserve it?

Just got the email. My FedEx tracking info has said "Guaranteed delivery by 10:30 a.m. on June 23rd" from the start though.

If it shows up on June 23rd, then that will be a pleasant surprise, but I'm not planning on it. Why disappoint myself?

Hope I get my e-mail soon! Also, this makes complete sense...it spreads out the load on the servers so that the 24th isn't a total nightmare.

They would if it were a mistake. A mistake covered by the fact that Apple has always been clear that the release date is the 24th. But honestly, this will be cleared up either way tomorrow by Apple. If I'm right, I get to gloat. If I'm wrong, I get my phone a day early.

Hahaha, excellent post. I completely agree.

Yea and I doubt that apple would make the mistake of sending out an email stating specific shipping dates and not live up to it. I doubt they want a newspaper heading reading "Apple sends out millions of emails to iPhone 4 buyers with June 23 shipping date but does not live up to it." I think you are just in denial, because it is definitely a possibility for the iPhone 4 to deliver a day earlier so they can relieve the activation servers.

One last e-mail before I go to sleep...

Let's look at it this way.

The 15th wasn't the easiest of days, for reasons we all know. The days that followed, AT&T, Apple, Best Buy, Radioshack and Wal-Mart were basically HARASSED.

Was it anyone's fault, really, but your own, for wanting a phone so badly? And yet, this companies became, for lack of a better term, the EFFING DEVIL. All because the demand was too great, the servers too small, and tempers too high.

So, Apple and their friends take a beating for 6 days.

Apple thinks... "Maybe we can try to avoid more of that. Let's get a batch of iPhones out and in hand a day early, to those who were able to get through, to those we kept trying, to those who had nothing better to do last week, and let's see if we can ease up the traffic on our servers come Thursday."

Honestly! It's gotta be that simple. There isn't some computer here sending out an e-mail with false information. The last thing Apple needs is more of us complaining about this damn phone. I'm sure they have their hands full with people calling up DEMANDING a white iPhone, they sure as hell don't need anyone else calling Wednesday afternoon DEMANDING to know where their iPhone is and why they haven't received it.

Let's try out a novel concept here, shall we?

It's called "trust". I know there isn't a lot of that to go around these days, but, I think this is one of those times where we could all just try it out.

And if, by chance, the phone doesn't come on Wednesday, is it really any skin off your nose? It's not like you all expect it to anyway...

So, let's just... trust.

There is a thread theorizing that a hacker got your eMails(like the iPad breach) and is tricking all of you right now. I'm more prone to believe that this was a mistake but...

Dude, why keep posting if you think it's fake?
Just either wait and see or leave.

I would also like to point out that on my apple store page it no longer says it will be delivered on the 24th like it has the last few days. (Even after it shipped).
