My Email used to say "Delivery ON 24th" then "BY 24th" now it doesn't show anything... But fedex shows 23rd

That is a normal route. The other is from AK to Memphis to Portland. I've received things from China via both routes with FedEx. If it is to be delivered in Oregon Wednesday it should show up in Portland early today, be trucked to the nearest local hub and then out for delivery Wednesday.

If you live in Southern Oregon it may go to Eugene today.

Thank you for the helpful info! Cant wait for Wednesday to see if they are actually arriving on doorsteps! I may have to accompany my dad to his early morning apple store adventure on the 24th since I'll have a nice new HD camera to document the craziness with...

I noticed this too. At one point, Apple was showing my delivery date as the 24th, and then it just vanished from the Order Status page completely. It's nowhere to be found now other than the FexEx tracking page.

It's on Engadget.com they got their email too!

It will be all over the place tomorrow probably on a bunch of news sites! Wonder if Apple will make a public announcement.

Mine just arrived in NJ as well!

I tend to just go with Occam's razor in regards to my electronics purchases, so I remain optimistic that the email is legit and that I'll have my phone show up on Wednesday. Usually when electronics from FedEx are in NJ I get them the next day, so Wed seems reasonable.

Plus my card just got charged (not the hold, but the final real charge), so that's encouraging.

Same! (I live in PA)

When I spent 5 hours trying to order, I thought I was crazy...

But I finally got my apple order placed by 2 pm on the 15th.

When I saw the delivery dates slip to July on the 16th, I didn't feel so bad about wasting 5 hours.

When the dates slipped to July 14th, I actually felt pretty savvy.

Now that I got my email confirming delivery on the 23rd, I'm a damn genius and getting smarter by the hour.

Should be Mensa level by delivery time! Any other Johnny come lately geniuses out there?

I'm also one of the lucky ones who will receive their phone a day early, pretty stoked, it's my anniversary with my GF though and she's infuriated about the lack of info on the White phone, so I'll have to downplay how excited I am about it...

Mine also arrived in Newark at 2:38. I still don't know what to believe. Either way it's not the end of the world and we'll all have it soon enough.

Here's my guess:

Apple works backwards from launch day to prepare for the deluge of activations, customer support calls, etc.
They need all hands on deck.

My guess is that being ready on the 23rd is to help offset the deluge - let the pre-orders roll in on one day and the in-stores the next.
My guess is that the reason they didnt announce it are:
1. Everyone would try to preoder from apple only
2. They probably weren't 100% sure they would release them early

Or . . .this is just one big confusing mess and we all get em on the 24th.
:)

Just checked the fedex status and my phone went from ANCHORAGE, AK to OAKLAND, CA.....and I live in Oregon. Seems silly to skip the delivery state and go past it but I guess mine was on the same plane as the others reporting it was in oakland.
My estimated delivery is still 4:00pm on the 24th, although I received apples email for the 23rd

My phone was on the same plane. Maybe they were friends! They had parties on Lantau Island and partied in igloos in Alaska together!

Ok I sound looney.

This is how i see it...
It's possible that apple might let people, who were lucky enough to pre-order an iphone, have the iphone early to activate it a day before to reduce the stress on the servers. The last two years were an epic fail, since people were updating to new OS and activating new phones at the same time.
This year the new OS was released couple of days earlier for current iphone users to update to prepare for 1million+ new iphone activations. And if 600,000 iphones get a head start in activations it will minimize server crashing for new customers who weren't able to pre-order.
