Got the same email as well. This seems very unorthodox for apple but makes sense logistically. I guess we'll see soon since apple will squash this soon if it's an elaborate joke.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

I got the same email as well. I actually took Thursday off from work so I could be home to receive it. Now, I'm not sure whether to take Wednesday off as well or just switch my day off to Wednesday.

Hopefully we get confirmation from Apple on this sometime today.

Got the same email this morning at 0140 EST.

Ordered my iPhone 4 32GB around at 3:47 EST on 15 June 2010 and original date was projected for 24th by 1630 EST, if that helps.

Folks, I suspect this is a hoax... Looking at the headers from trusted apple emails (apple store, wwdc, announcements, etc), the message-id for all of them contain the apple domain and the .com top level domain. For example:

Message-Id: <5937638.672489631277142783765.JavaMail.chatboxp@clarion.apple.com>

Message-Id: <ec228d$qe8sj@badger-txnvip.apple.com>

The early-iPhone message's header lacks both the top level domain and the apple domain:

Message-Id: <20100622055524.150C01534F2C@biweb>

Not to say this is proof, but it just seems very suspicious. The rest of the header looks pretty well spoofed; alas, it's just way too late to look into this in any detail right now, and besides, I'm sure we'll hear from the mothership soon enough about whether this is true or false.

I got the email myself, so it would be nice to get the phone early, but now I'm not so sure about the authenticity of that message.

Anyone else notice it says "the morning of the" in the email? Is it likely they'd make that error?

Just call FedEx with your tracking number. They will know exactly what day it's coming. 1.800.463.3339

It wouldn't be the first time Apple included a small error in emails regarding iPhone 4 purchases. For example:

Got the email too

Checked my Fed Ex tracking and it says on the 23rd by 10:30 a.m.

So I guess we'll see.

Mine says 23rd by 4:30, so seems legit (although I need to leave at 1 so hopefully they won't be that late or I'm calling in sick for work...)

If it's true, I'll be one jealous SOB. I would have had it delivered instead of opting for the in store pick up. :p

I got the email as well. Puzzling. What I don't trust is that it suggests you pre-sign if the date is inconvenient. Apple typically does not allow pre-signing for the iPhone, at least not with FedEx. My FedEx man said you cannot pre-sign for this.

I hope to hear something official on the front page tomorrow morning.

iPhone4 on Wednesdayyyy!

How sweet to have Wed and Thu off to enjoy me new baby. :D

If this is a hoax I could see Apple not wanting the bad press and really not wanting to admit they were able to have someone get in their system and send out everyone who pre-ordered a email like this.

So I think Steve will honor those emails and lift the lock down till the 24th.

I just think Apple doesn't want any more bad press.

My question would be, is there any evidence that everyone who pre ordered in time for delivery on June 24th got this email that their iphone is being delivered a day early, or did just some people. Maybe Fedex notified Apple that they couldn't guarantee delivery of 600,000 plus units in one day. So maybe Apple decided to split the deliveries into two days.

WOOOOOO

Att Premier order listed for 23rd delivery on fedex!!!!

Yep.. also an ATT premier order with a 23rd delivery date. It was actually June 22nd at first but quickly changed to the 23rd by 3pm.

I simply do not understand. On FedEx, it says it's in Oakland (6 hrs from my house) and it still says June 24th by 4:30 and I got the email from Apple about 4 hrs ago. Maybe it'll change in a few hours. Otherwise, i'll be

yep I got the email too

on FedEx's website it still says a June 24 deliver by 4:30, but according to Apple it says that will change on the 23rd......
