If they are delivered on the 23rd as Apple is saying, will people be able to activate them through iTunes on the 23rd? Or will ATT/Apple not let people do it until the 24th anyways?

WOOOOOO

Att Premier order listed for 23rd delivery on fedex!!!!

I got the same status just now! Awesome.

Yep.. also an ATT premier order with a 23rd delivery date. It was actually June 22nd at first but quickly changed to the 23rd by 3pm.

Add me to the list of Premier orders scheduled for a June 23rd delivery. Maybe Apple & AT&T decided to get as many phones out as they could a day early in order to A) spur reservation cancellations from those of us with backup appointments in an effort to increase first day sales numbers and B)give the activation servers a fighting chance while people are waiting in line for their phones. It's to their mutual benefit to ensure launch day goes as smoothly as possible in their respective stores.

There probably allowing deliveries a day early simply cause mainly they want to avoid a server crash on the 24th.

I thought this was a bad hoax given Apple's history of holding up delivery for launch day. But I just got the email -- actually I got it at 1:53am, but I was kinda sleeping. Very nice.

I suspect FedEx has sooooo many phones to delivery they pleaded to Apple to let them deliver as they got them stateside rather than hold.

This is so weird. I also got this email.

Dear Apple Store Customer,

You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.

This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.

In the event that you will not be available to accept delivery on June 23rd, it may be more convenient to use our pre-sign delivery option by visiting our Order Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus.

Sincerely,

The Apple Store Team

My iPhone tracking is currently in Anchorage, AK and I live in Saint Paul, MN.
I'm not sure what exactly to believe.

Quite possible considering there's been a marked change in carriers from fedex to UPS on all the latest AT&T orders updated with tracking information...

My AT&T premier info says the same, delivers by June 23rd. I figured FedEx would just hold it until the 24th. Maybe Apple is making a peace offering for the pre-order catastrophe on the 15th.....

Just maybe ATT knows it's servers will crash and is trying to spread the activations over a few days! Just maybe but I doubt it!

We all went thru the same crap with the iPad.

Add me to the list

I received the email as well

Looks the same as all the others, so won't bother posting the image.

Mine took the same Shenzhen to Lantau to Anchorage to Newark route since I live on the east coast. Should be in town today and out for delivery tomorrow, if past experience with FedEx is any indication.

And my order has all along said by the 24th, and still does, at the FedEx site, and my Apple Order Status page has all along had a pre-sign form available for me to fill out and stick on my door allowing the carrier to drop it off without my signature.

We'll see.

Plane

If this is a hoax I could see Apple not wanting the bad press and really not wanting to admit they were able to have someone get in their system and send out everyone who pre-ordered a email like this.

So I think Steve will honor those emails and lift the lock down till the 24th.

I just think Apple doesn't want any more bad press.

It's not a hoax. I'd love to hear how you think it could be, though.

Regardless, I have the same email and if my iPhone comes tomorrow I'll be more than happy.

What is everyone's FedEx Tracking information saying right if you've gotten this e-mail?

Mine still says Thursday ..

So does mine. But the email also says that Fedex tracking may indicate a later date but you could follow along on Wednesday and see it get to your door.

Just checked my credit card - the charge was processed and put through.

This should definitely relieve the stress on the Apple and at&t servers tomorrow. Remember, in the past the servers that crashed were Apple's activation servers, not at&t's.

I got the email too. And, in another thread I wrote that I believe they should deliver early to spread out the activation traffic. Seems as though Apple listened to me. :)
