Update!

Apparently if you did the order online you have accepted the terms and conditions from att. This is _not_ the case if you placed your iPhone 4 order over the phone from Apple.

I was assured that I will still get my phone on the 24th. We will see.

I hope this is a legit email. Not because I will get the phone tomorrow, but because, if it's not, then what kind of security breach does Apple have on their hands, and what information of mine (beyond my email address and the fact that I have an order in the system) do they know. My credit card number?

I would be less worried if this were a generic email, but it seems to only be targeted at people who preordered in the first wave and were already scheduled to get theirs on the 24th. To send out a hoax to this select group of customers would imply some sort of security issue to say the least.

Well, I live in Texas. Got the early delivery email.

My phone's still in Memphis--so unless they drive ALL DAY to get to Dallas, and then drive about four more hours to get to my local hub, it won't be here tomorrow.

I'm quite certain that FedEx has multiple flights per day between their Memphis hub and a major city like Dallas. They will fly your phone to Dallas, not drive it.

Now, the last four hours to your local hub are probably on a truck.

Stop looking for black helicopters where none exist. I'm pretty darn cynical too. But as of this AM, I received this email and my tracking info at fedex.com updated to indicate delivery tomorrow, by 10:30 AM.

I'm 100% convinced.

Here's something for you all to pick apart. :)

Screenshot #1: Somewhere in transit, shipped IP Direct Distribution, scheduled delivery 6/23.

Screenshot #2: Waiting at Oakland, shipped International Economy Distribution, scheduled delivery on 6/24.

Got my email early this morning:

Dear Apple Store Customer,

You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.

This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.

In the event that you will not be available to accept delivery on June 23rd, it may be more convenient to use our pre-sign delivery option by visiting our Order Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus.

Sincerely,

The Apple Store Team

"The morning of THE June 23rd" is the tipoff that the thing is automated...and not proofread.

My AT&T orders' Fedex tracking information just updated and now shows a June 23rd delivery date. The possibility of Apple.com and AT&T orders arriving early?

That would only be true if there was another email written exactly the same. If you can locate another email that apple has sent out in the past for another product that was exactly the same except for the details (The june 23rd and such) then I will accept that that mistake is evidence of automation, but an error like that to me seems like human error. I never noticed it when reading over it and I am sure most did not. It could of been proofread a couple of times and still had that mistake.

It will most likely fly out of Memphis by tonight and arrive in Dallas in the early morning with plenty of time to make it to your local hub for delivery tomorrow.

The same thing happened with my iPad and they drove it to Austin and made it onto the truck for delivery that same day.

I'll be ticked if they move me up to 23rd as I've already made plans for the 24th drop.

Well when I placed the order I got this:

iPhone Information
iPhone Warranty

Just download the latest version of iTunes, connect to your computer, and iTunes will guide you through the next steps. For questions about your AT&T rate plan, call 1-800-331-0500, visit wireless.att.com, or find the nearest AT&T store. For questions about your iPhone order or hardware, visit Apple Store Online Help.
Recycling
You can recycle your old cell phone for free, using the Apple Recycling Program.

I received the Apple E-mail last night as well. I'm really surprised and stunned by Apple's change in policy on this. It has to be due to the sheer volume of orders and concerns about all of them being activated on the same day.

One thing is for sure, I'm definitely going to head down to a T-Shirt company today and have one of these made:

Then, tomorrow, after I've received and activated my iPhone 4, I'm going to don the T-shirt and take it and my iPhone 4 down to the Apple Store and walk up and down the line! :p

Just kidding.... They'd probably kill me! :D

There is always at least one complainer.....

Well they will try and redeliver on the 24th too if you are not at home on the 23rd, so you wont have to change your plans, and you wont be getting your iPhone later than you originally anticipated. You do have the option (unlike a lot of people) of getting your phone a day early, yet you still complain.

I got the same email saying the 23rd from Apple, but FedEx still shows it in Anchorage and estimated delivery of 24th. We'll see. It sure would be nice if it were to come in tomorrow!!!!! :D

so does anyone know if this is the case with att too? the tracking says delivery of the 23rd

Yeah so does mine, though everyone here isn't really answering. They are too caught up in trying to disprove the Apple email or defend it.

However I think that there is definitely a possibility for our 23rd delivery to be a reality.

Is yours shipping via Fedex? If so what time does it say it will deliver by and what shipping method (Ground, Standard Overnight, etc.)?

I'm 100% convinced.

I got my email at 1am CST and my order is still in Memphis with a delivery date of the 24th by 4:30pm.

I'm still not completely sure about the email. Part of me thinks it's some random automated mistake and another thinks it's true.

I won't be home tomorrow. :( Oh well I took off on Thursday and they will bring it by then. If I have time I may go and pick it up tomorrow evening. If not I have the whole day on Thursday!

The use of "its" is correct in this instance. It is the possessive form. It's = it is.
