You are probably right in my case. And I am not being sarcastic. I pretty much have nothing going on in my life other than my family and work so you'd probably find me pretty boring. Or at least my life anyway. :)

LOL! To each his own.

99% of the pictures I take are of things on the shelves at Walmart so my wife can decide what it is she wants. The other 1% is screen caps for posts here on MR.

Don't really need a high quality cam for that in my case. :)

I'm boring too :(

EXPENSIVE....
and not releasing until NOVEMBER!!
Why introduce a highly demanded phone just for it not to come out in 2 months? When Samsung released theirs just 2-3 weeks after announcing it.
Also lack of features to justify the high price... no touch ID
complicated user interface and less battery than the 8
Imagine the uproar they'd get if they announced the 8 today and came back next month to announce the X, next month? They made the right decision

I'm not expecting wow.

The time for that is long over. However, I am expecting…nice. Nice design, nice to look at, hold etc.

I don't look at my Honda and get wowed by it's design. And I am not expecting wow the next time Honda redesigns the Accord. But I am expecting something attractive and nice.

I'm not getting that from the new phones.

That's what I thought when I saw the 8. Ehh. However at least the X got me to say OK, this is worth upgrading from my banged up 6+.

I bow to you, sir. You are the best. Way to own it. I am the same way. I LOVE BEING BORING. I'm 47 years old. The excitements in my life are gadgets, travel and music. Other than that, I like being home. I had enough excitement in my 20s and 30s to last a lifetime. Now, boring is better.
[doublepost=1505253782][/doublepost]I am probably keeping the 7 Plus or switching to the Galaxy Note 8. I'm not sure leaving Apple will be worth it, but I was far from impressed by the 8 or the X. The X is ugly and there's still a sizeable chunk around the screen, so it's not really screen from edge to edge. For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out why they kept the design of the 6 and 7 for that 8. That is SO BORING. Jeez - 10th anniversary, what a FAIL on Apple's part. The X is a year behind Samsung. When did apple start following the leader instead of being the leader?

I was unimpressed, they're basically coming to parity with the android phone (for the most part), given high price tag, its a bit underwhelming, and disappointing.

Agreed. I'll be researching the Galaxy Note 8 to see if it's worth the upgrade from my 7 Plus. If not, I'll stick with the 7 Plus. Nothing at all exciting announced by apple today.

Went into this certain I would be ordering an X but this keynote actually has me considering an 8 :/

I feel the exact same way - I was totally sure I was gonna go all in and get a oled iPhone.
Though after seeing the lack of a virtuel home button or menu, combined with the doubtful faceid and the obvious its price! No wonder its called iPhone x-pensive......

I have beeb waiting for 2 years for this and I kind a feel betrayed. Yes its a harsh fanboy statement, but I really was expecting more. Im leaning towards 8 plus.... :/

The claim is 2 hours more than iPhone 7.

Apple made a similar claim that iPhone 7 has 2 hours more than 6S.
That's a sad battery life information that was given by Apple...."2hrs more.." What's 2 hrs more? 4 hrs total?

I'll be 47 this month. :)

A little excitement would be good, but then my mind would come up with all the ways it could go horribly wrong and I'd end up stressing out until it was over, LOL!!!

So, I get my excitement with my tech, same as you. :D

PS. Love the username!

If this is the biggest leap forward from the original iPhone (T. Cook) Apple is in trouble.

Seeing a video playing with the camera bump protruding into the side of the video was terrible.

Swipe up from the bottom sounds fine, but you are actually swiping up from the actual "bottom" of the phone, not the bottom of the display.

Swiping up from the bottom of the phone itself is a strange gesture, and wait until you add a case to the phone, making that gesture more difficult.

You will automatically adjust your hand for the up swipe, and that will make reaching the apps on top difficult.
(just try it on your current phone)

I don’t find it too boring but if I upgrade it will be to the 8 plus. I like the wireless charging that I had on my beloved note 7. On top of that, my daughter wants my 7 plus badly.

Allow me to weigh in as just another boring old guy who is not impressed with the iPhone X.

To be clear, I'm not the market that Apple is shooting for on this bad boy, so the fact I'm all "meh" is not surprising in the least. Heck, I'm still rocking my iPhone 6 and I use it mostly for, get this, phone calls.

I like watching the MacRumors web feed on these keynotes if only to feel in touch with what the kids are into these days. I was thinking about the iPhone X today while eating my lunch at Wendy's (got the Senior Discount - Yay!) and I have some questions from my curmudgeonly brain:

  1. How much resolution does one need on a roughly 3" x 6" screen? To my aging eyes, standard Retina is pretty darn good and anything more seems like wasted effort (and battery life).
  2. Where's the line between practical innovation and silly gimmickry, and does Apple even know the difference any more?
  3. If Steve Jobs came back from the dead, would he look at these new doodads and wonder "Apple, WTF?"?
  4. Doesn't anyone tuck their shirt in anymore?
That's all I got for now. As my aging iPhone 6 would say, "It's time for my afternoon colonic."

So if this was the Ten Anniversary Edition u were waiting for, can see why the diasapointment.

Heck, I'm still rocking my iPhone 6 and I use it mostly for, get this, phone calls.
That is my primary purpose for my own phone. Email, text and web browsing come in after that.

My wife has blown out over 500 minutes so far this month and our bill period is only half over. It's a good thing the carriers give unlimited minutes now.

I have to be honest. Prior to the Keynote, I found the X dull, but after looking at the presentation, it looks like a good looking phone, definitely different from prior models. This is a redesign I am going to welcome. I've been wanting a redesign since the 5S. Though I would have like to see the X with a little more wow factor, I'm content that it has some DNA to the first iPhone, meaning the curvature of the stainless steel bands.

It is like every Apple product release:

Step 1: People got high expectations.
Step 2: People are underwhelmed by the keynote and complain like crazy.
Step 3: People see the device in real life for the first time. And buy it.

I'm leaning toward none of the above. I think I'll add the Pixel 2 just to get the fantastic Project Fi service. Works so well if you're an international traveler like I am.

And get this: the iPhone 6 blows the 7 Plus out of the water in the phone department. The 7 Plus's speaker phone is so bad it has to be defective.

Considering how disappointed forum members are, the iPhone X will sell really well.

So true!!!! I can say with confidence that the only thing I could upgrade is the watch with cellular which keeps your same number

Yes, and that looked really, really uncomfortable to me--as in there will soon be a new form of repetitive stress injury for thumbs everywhere, thanks to the X.

It sure was weird.

But wouldn’t that be the case with all the rumors and dummy phone being showcase for months?

I knew what Apple plans was from the rumors that was leaked from the HomePod firmware and iOS 11 GM... my only curiosity came from how do I interact with the screen without a home button and when will it be released.

If anything, I’m disappointed by the release date... but we all was given heads up with the estimate cost of the rumored iPhone X.

That is true.

However, I think it's a little different this year. Normally, these types of threads are couple here, a couple there in between the ones about how awesome it will be to get the new phone. That seems inverted this year to me.

I've noticed a trend that when someone says an inanimate object is "boring" they usually share that trait.

Here let me do what everyone should do when someone makes a statement like this.

Could u please send links and post concrete situations to support this I'm sure it will be crickets.

What you should have said is "in my opinion"

The display will blow their minds. I really think it will.
