No, is not fixed, but sounds better, if apple continues improving the balance in futures betas they will fix the issue. You can go to accessibility and move the balance a little to the left and the crackling dessapears.
I tried 11.3 and for me it sounds exactly same as 11.2.5, which was probably a little better than the previous. Maybe balance correction works a little, but this is what apple has to fix via software. It is okay, as long as you hold your device vertical. When you change to horizontal position, left and right may change too. And then you balanced to the complete wrong side.
Does that mess up the speaker sound though when you do that? At least Apple seems to know about the issue.
Apple slightly lowering the volume of the top speaker and calibrating should solve the problem. I'm still hoping it will disappear with normal use, even with some wet in clean and sweet water. I do not know if it's my impression but it seems to me that mine is diminishing. I do not know.

Finally i did it. For the prize of the X (i return my unit to amazon and recover my money) i got de Pixel XL 128gb by 500 dolars, and nikon D5300 camera by another 500 dolars, and win 200 dolars
.. Apple products are being to cost so much, and if you want all the ecosystem (iphone, watch, computer) you have to put double or triple of your money . Im not rich, and i cant wait more time to apple fix the speaker issue
Yesterday I was listening Spotify songs at full volume and it is very rare to identify the problem by listening songs. I alternate between several songs and styles. Where else it is noticeable in speaker(handsfree) calls and whatsapp audios.
I tried moving the balance to the left and the crackling is still present...doesn’t make any sense and I don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a new phone right now! The 8 Plus is perfect besides this problem.

My speaker crackles on high volume, even had it replaced and the replacement model also has the same issue. Got both from the same store (Metrotown Apple store, BC Canada). Now considering returning it and getting something else instead ... or trying another replacement but perhaps from another store as maybe the store I went to has a bad batch or something.
Decided to go Apple again because the X looks truly amazing, but already finding a lot of inconveniences when comparing to Android; no notification light on the front screen, no clumping of notifications, scrolling more annoying on browsers, no fingerprint reader, sometimes apps think the notch is not there and you get parts cut off (try moving the text cursor on Safari browser's url address when a page is open), can't control data limits per month, no shortcut button for GPS (okay maybe Siri helps for that, but still), Messenger less fun cause no bubbles, and so many more.
And now the speaker is all messed up x_x ... lol come on Apple! X's so expensive that one would expect it to be near perfect, not this. I really love the screen but disappointed and surprised with the quality.
PS: I made the account to show that there is at least one more person who has this issue. I am guessing a lot just don't notice it or choose to ignore it. I am picky when I buy expensive stuff, so I notice these things and they do bother me.

Are you having the same problem as us but on the iPhone 8 Plus?
I'm thinking a lot about replacing my device, but from what I'm seeing it will not work. My fear is to get one with another problem, besides ours, and scratched or something.
I do not know if I'm happy or sad to see a majority complaining. With this, Apple must solve via software in both 8 Plus and X.
It must be a general problem, but some note, some do not. Some use it at maximum volume, others do not.

This will only work if you stand with the device vertically. When you use the device horizontally, the balance bar will be reversed.
Hello everyone. I have registered in this forum for this problem that in my case happens on an Iphone 8. I notice a crackling sound especially when I reproduce the memories in the app photos. Also if I use the keyboard at the same time that I am playing music. If I keep memories as video then the crackling sound does not appear.
Finally, iOS 11 and the iPhone X seems beta products. Best thing to do? skip for the next GEN and hope this issues not appear.. iPhone 4 antennagate, iPhone 5 paintgate, iphone 6 bendgate , iPhone X speakergate. 1 gen of any new apple products, bad idea .
The iPhone 8 i tried had the same problem with the upper earpiece speaker as my x. Maybe even a little bit worse.

New iPhone 8 / X speakers are stereo, for the first time, so ... if can, return device, sell device, or something, and wailt for the next gen.

I’m on iPhone 8+ (now) & I’ve noticed this crackling noise via Bluetooth since I was using iPhone 7+. It comes and goes, I’ll usually turn off Bluetooth, reboot device and the issue will go away. For the longest, I thought the issue was associated with my current Bluetooth headset

iPhone 7 also has stereo speakers, 6 and 6s does not. And the speaker itself is the same as in the 8. Maybe there is a difference in the water resistant covering, at this moment i can not compare them.
I had my iPhone replaced for a different reason. The new one has a crappier screen but the speaker issue is not as bad.
Compared it to my wife’s iPhone 8 Plus, the 8 plus is still louder with deeper bass but the amount of crackle is now comparable.
