Pre-order supplies of the new iPhone X are now largely sold out, with the new iPhone models displaying shipping estimates well beyond the November 3 launch date. All models from all carriers at the moment list shipping estimates of five to six weeks in the United States, although some Sprint models can still be ordered for November 3 in-store pickup depending on the store. Other countries have similarly delayed shipping estimates.

Ahead of iPhone X pre-orders, rumors suggested supplies would be heavily constrained due to ongoing production issues with everything from the TrueDepth camera module to the flexible printed circuit board for the device's antenna.

With pre-order supplies of the iPhone X exhausted, some customers could be waiting for months to get their hands on one of Apple's new devices. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple will not reach supply/demand balance for the iPhone X until well into the new year.

Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone X at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 27, and it took just minutes for shipping estimates to start slipping. Shipping times are likely to get longer over the course of the next few hours as pre-orders continue to trickle in.

Customers who are hoping to get an iPhone X on launch day but weren't able to get a pre-order in early enough can try their luck waiting in line for a new device on launch day, Friday November 3.

Customers who were able to place an early iPhone X pre-order will begin receiving their devices starting next week.

I wonder how pre orders will go next year when Face ID with Apple Pay decides not to work...

Got my email confirmation at 3:05 and am in the 1-2 week window (nav 10th) hopefully it’ll ship earlier but it’s better than having to wait a month and a half

Wouldn't bank on carriers being honest. Vodafone screwed a lot of people over in the UK last year.
I wouldnt count on all vendor numbers being completely reliable (for example, they have 500k units and they figure that 20k of sales are cancellations so they already pre-sell them) but I’m willing to bet that whatever Apple has allocated for them, they have.

we got duped via apples controlled 'leaks'. theres plenty of iphone x's available. i think the whole rumor of 2-3 million only available is a farce. all a marketing ploy to get people to rush in and impulse buy asap.

btw ming chi kuo is definitely an Apple asset. apple rumors come directly from him whenever the new Samsung phones are about to be released..

att business was still showing 3 days for silver 256
and not quite 5-6 weeks for the space grey

I'd be surprised if they sell for $/£5,000+. That's just someone trying it on. I recall a Macbook Pro being listed for $15k last year. eBay is littered with electronic products priced at sky high prices just hoping to cash in on buyer's ignorance.

Looking at the auction prices I wouldn't be surprised to see a few go for around $2k though.

It's a shame really that so many have been bought just to sell for a quick profit. Apple should introduce a restriction that you can't sell your device for a month.

It's not a marketing ploy - it didn't come from Apple. Rumour sites making things up / misinterpreting their information... once again.

Just like those bogus reports that the iPhone would have Touch ID embedded into the power button. Or that Apple were scrambling to put Touch ID under the display... in June 2017.

has anyone else's credit card also charged for the phone?

Mine has not been charged yet but I paid with Apple Pay, not sure if that made a difference? Regardless mine is still showing a delivery date by Nov. 3. States Order Placed. I sure hope my shipping date doesn't slip!

hmm. I have an order with VF but no confirmed delivery date in any email yet. Just 'we'll let you know when it has despatched'. The complication is that I'm converting my SIM only contract to PAYG (30 days notice) so that I can then transfer the number over to the phone. This means the Iphone counts as a new line which means a £10 discount on the line rental so its 'only' £57.80 per month.

still a little cheaper to go sim free but I'll take a small hit to get it earlier. If they delay a lot (or if Carphone actually deliver on Friday) then I'll have to cancel.

Carphone have already taken the money even though still no guarantee of launch delivery.

Seems the best solution is to have £3k spare to preorder multiple phones in the hope one arrives, then the hassle of cancelling/returning the others.

Well anybody should know that if you have 100 million people ordering the device and you only have 10 million made in 5-6 weeks you won’t have enough. Start production in July and you’d have enough

James

So you think Apple would rather sell 10 millions instead of 100 millions, so it can create this false sense of high demand, when the competition is more aggressive then ever for Apple and people have a lot of other decent options when it comes to smartphones? Makes absolutely no sense.

The only way they can do that is if they do not sell you the phone outright. They lease their phones instead. Just like what Lexus did with the LFA supercar in the US.

But nope, that’s not gonna happen.

I placed my order within 1 minute. Getting a space grey 256GB on november 3th. Instantly charges my creditcard en status is processed. Great!

apple has controlled assets like ming chi kuo..

I decided to use the Apple store app and had my wife in the US ordering hers and me in Europe on business. Wouldn’t load until about 12:20 for both of us. She ended up with an email saying that one is reserved, but they couldn’t reach her provider (ATT). I got error after error at each stage and ended up with 4 to 5 weeks despite trying to order immediately.

I don’t know when my wife’s will arrive since we have to wait for a separate email to complete her order. Maybe she can get hers on the 3rd.

If Tim Cook is such a supply chain wizard, why has he screwed up the final step in the chain so bad every year. I know it’s hard, but this is BS. When someone goes to all the trouble to try to order as soon as possible and can’t do it, you have failed. Limited supply is one thing, failing systems and processes is another.

This may be the final straw for me. As much as I hate Android I can’t keep supporting this company’s repeated incompetence in both services and products. Especially when I’m paying a premium for their incompetence. And I use windows on my game machine and it’s really not that bad and maybe I can enjoy getting a machine that is actually powerful and modern and not just pretty.

So, interesting update. Just out of curiosity I went directly to the MyAtt app and ordered a 64Gb Silver for my wife and it was still available for the 3rd. So, I just won’t respond to the reservation email when it arrives.

Went to cancel mine at Apple and it says unavailable to edit or cancel. I went ahead and purchased one on Att as well. We’ll see what happens when Apple tries to associate it with my number in 5 weeks and finds out I already have one. Worst case I’ll end up with one to sell.

Strange that Att’s system was quick and responsive yet Apple couldn’t get data from Att. Not saying all the blame is necessarily on Apple, but in the past it was worse to buy from my provider, but this year appears much better.

Got my pre-approval from Citizens One on Monday so I’d be all set. Aaaand, I forgot to stay up until 2am to pre-order. DOH! Guess I’ll be lining up next Friday morning.

I had a heck of a ride with ATT. First I had to wait in line for 10 minutes on their site. No biggy. Then when I got through and tried to upgrade, it only gave me an option to pay in full. Wouldnt give me the payment plan! It took me 35 minutes to get mine in. Still got Nov 3rd Delivery! :) But ATT wouldnt let me upgrade my wifes phone even though she is on the iPhone every year plan. I waited til I woke up at 530 and tried again on my phone, and it went thru then with a delivery date Nov 2nd - 10th. I'm still a happy camper! :D Both 64 Space Gray!

Why did Apple give tell me they can’t verify carrier details with AT&T but my phone is “reserved”... I selected it at full price why did AT&T even have to be involved other than to pick GSM version. I did Best Buy as a backup but for some reason they charged $100 extra mark up
