Got a 256GB in Space Grey but might sell it as I’m away to the states where it’s £250 cheaper. That £1149 is obscene for a phone. I only want the OLED display..

After 2 hours of trying to order, I got 2 pickups for Nov. 3. Apple was having trouble contacting sprint servers so all the pickup spots were still available

Apple Store app opened on my iPhone 7 at 0006. Could have had a Nov 3 pickup date at the Store, however I was too focused on getting it ordered and sped right through that page before I could change...:( Nov 10-17 now for my Silver 64gb

I have a 2-3 week window for delivery. Wasn’t able to load the store on three devices for nearly 10 minutes. Will be trying my local store for pickup in the days to come.

I don't get this argument either. What does Apple have to gain by delaying production?
It fulfils the deep-seated desire of many people to (a) have a simple explanation of why things are happening and (b) to have somebody to blame for something they don't like (eg, long shipping times). A lot of people want meaning in their life, ie, if something happens (here, long delivery times), it was because somebody (aka Apple) meant it to be like that. And if something unwanted happened, it had to be nefarious activities that were the reason. How can you live in a world where bad things happen just by accident (eg, stuff going wrong during production scale-up)? That's chaos, that's frightening.

ATT is still showing some for delivery on Nov 3 FYI. Apple's app and website failed me and are weeks out, but luckily ATT is release day...although I am not sure I can trust it. We shall see.

Except it didn't work - the app kept showing the placeholder updating page for nearly 10 minutes after the website allowed you in. That's with killing and restarting the app. So the website was way faster this year

Not for everyone.

For me, the app on my iPad was way quicker than the website or the app on my phone. From reading connects on here this morning, it seems to be fairly random which method people were most successful with.

If anything, I'd just say that the clear benefit that the app previously had seems to have gone.

That's screen shot is from the Apple site, yes? I just got my order through on Sprint's site and delivery is 11/3. I'm not surprised though given how they screwed up the launch (site was down for 2 hours!).

Been online with Sprint for over an hour and still waiting. On hold and have been disconnected several times...fail

Go online, I just ordered my X on their site a few minutes ago. Good luck!

Same situation here. I pre-approved the upgrade earlier in the week and was forced to order through the app. I wasn't allowed in until well after others not in the upgrade program. 10-15 minutes after the hour. After several errors occurring in the app I was able to complete the order with Nov 17-24 ship date.
There is no order showing in the store, only an Order Is Pending status under the upgrade program. No confirmation email.
It seems that being in the upgrade program was a big disadvantage. I contacted Apple via chat and they could not confirm that I even had an order. Will try again when store support opens in a couple of hours. They should already be open on a such a heavy day.

Update: Just got a confirmation email showing everything correctly, so assuming all is good

Nov 10-17 :( If you’re a scalper I hate you.
Just goes to show, Apple is in business to make money. Pre-orders on a potentially hot item should be 1/person if they wanted the most customers to benefit. Scalpers take a risk too. Personally, would you buy a phone anyplace but an authorized retailer? I wouldn’t but I’m sure plenty of people would.

I wouldn’t be shocked if that Nov 10-17 date slips too. Let’s put it this way... I ordered (not pre-ordered) a SE for my wife 2 weeks ago. It’s due to be shipped on the 2nd. That’s 3 weeks for a phone that’s in nowhere near as high demand. I hope you guys see them this year.

I got a 256GB in Silver from Sprint. Took 2 and half hours but it's finally done. Delivery says 11/3. We'll see.

When is it available carrier free in the states? Won't there be a long wait list? if you're going there to live then fine but if (like me) you're going for a holiday then I'd be very surprised if you managed to get one from an Apple Store.

Like we haven't heard this declaration numerous times before. This will go one of two ways. You'll be a man of your word and you'll go use Android and hate your life. Don't let the door hit you on the way out if you do. Or, you'll whine to anyone who will listen until you get your iPhone X in a few weeks and then you won't even remember this happened until next year when you're gonna be doing it all over again.

Do you know me, or does it just make you feel superior to assume everyone is the same? Thanks for the psychoanalysis but don’t quit your day job.

What searing insight “either you’ll do it or you won’t do it”

It’s people like you who make these kinds of comments that have made this place suck.

I just wanted one for Verizon. :(
Was there at 12:01, the site said my Verizon account doesn't qualify. Wouldn't let me in. Lost out.

Okay, so this may sound like a stupid question, but if I ordered a phone through Verizon, is the shipping date entirely accurate? It says it will ship on November 3rd. I’ve always bought through Apple before, with no middle-man, and I was wondering that since Verizon is acting as a middle man, are they just guessing?
It should be accurate... these phones are probably sitting in Verizon warehouses already. They allocate phones to them in advance.

I too finally got the confirmation. I guess they had to wait for the Loan to process because I got the citizen one loan email before even getting an email from Apple. A few minutes later I got a confirmation and a pick up date on Nov. 3. Can't wait!

MY zip code is off by one digit (2nd to last number) because the app decided I needed to re-enter the shipping and billing addresses. This is something I should be able to easily change before shipment right? Worst case I can use UPSE my choice to send it to the nearest hub and hold for pickup, but I wanted to ask the experts. Thanks.

yes you can change the address. I did that for my apple watch.

I had originally ordered 4 phones in one transaction on ATT and got an email notification but now when I check the status it only shows one phone?

5-6 weeks here as well, not as bad as I thought. That's still in time for christmas with margin and it's already been several hours, so I wonder if it'll get much worse with the early pressure already off.

Less than I thought given unusually small supplies!

Combine that with similar shipping times as normal with big launches and my natural question is if Phone X is selling worse than expected?

On my Verizon orders it gives delivery dates, not ship dates. So if it says Nov. 3 you should have it on that day. In my experience ordering iPhones from Verizon, their delivery date has been dead accurate, it has always arrived on that day (but in my case usually very late in the day around 7 pm, apparently a lot of them go out on the trucks on the same day).
