It fulfils the deep-seated desire of many people to (a) have a simple explanation of why things are happening and (b) to have somebody to blame for something they don't like (eg, long shipping times). A lot of people want meaning in their life, ie, if something happens (here, long delivery times), it was because somebody (aka Apple) meant it to be like that. And if something unwanted happened, it had to be nefarious activities that were the reason. How can you live in a world where bad things happen just by accident (eg, stuff going wrong during production scale-up)? That's chaos, that's frightening.I don't get this argument either. What does Apple have to gain by delaying production?
Except it didn't work - the app kept showing the placeholder updating page for nearly 10 minutes after the website allowed you in. That's with killing and restarting the app. So the website was way faster this year
Been online with Sprint for over an hour and still waiting. On hold and have been disconnected several times...fail
Same situation here. I pre-approved the upgrade earlier in the week and was forced to order through the app. I wasn't allowed in until well after others not in the upgrade program. 10-15 minutes after the hour. After several errors occurring in the app I was able to complete the order with Nov 17-24 ship date.
There is no order showing in the store, only an Order Is Pending status under the upgrade program. No confirmation email.
It seems that being in the upgrade program was a big disadvantage. I contacted Apple via chat and they could not confirm that I even had an order. Will try again when store support opens in a couple of hours. They should already be open on a such a heavy day.
This whole process, of not even having enough phones for the first hour, is pathetic. In any other business, this would be a failure.
Just goes to show, Apple is in business to make money. Pre-orders on a potentially hot item should be 1/person if they wanted the most customers to benefit. Scalpers take a risk too. Personally, would you buy a phone anyplace but an authorized retailer? I wouldn’t but I’m sure plenty of people would.Nov 10-17If you’re a scalper I hate you.
November 3rd iPhone X’ will easily go for 2-2.5x on eBay.
Got a 256GB in Space Grey but might sell it as I’m away to the states where it’s £250 cheaper. That £1149 is obscene for a phone. I only want the OLED display..
Like we haven't heard this declaration numerous times before. This will go one of two ways. You'll be a man of your word and you'll go use Android and hate your life. Don't let the door hit you on the way out if you do. Or, you'll whine to anyone who will listen until you get your iPhone X in a few weeks and then you won't even remember this happened until next year when you're gonna be doing it all over again.
It should be accurate... these phones are probably sitting in Verizon warehouses already. They allocate phones to them in advance.Okay, so this may sound like a stupid question, but if I ordered a phone through Verizon, is the shipping date entirely accurate? It says it will ship on November 3rd. I’ve always bought through Apple before, with no middle-man, and I was wondering that since Verizon is acting as a middle man, are they just guessing?
Update: Just got a confirmation email showing everything correctly, so assuming all is good
Having the order go through seamlessly and then not being to brag about it!I don't know what is worse, not being able to get the new iPhone X on time or having the Macrumors forum down so we can't moan about it.
I doubt it will be £250 cheaper in the US.Got a 256GB in Space Grey but might sell it as I’m away to the states where it’s £250 cheaper. That £1149 is obscene for a phone. I only want the OLED display..
Someone who wants one for Christmas. I originally got mine for me but I might see the prices and early reviews and then decide.Who buys at that price?
MY zip code is off by one digit (2nd to last number) because the app decided I needed to re-enter the shipping and billing addresses. This is something I should be able to easily change before shipment right? Worst case I can use UPSE my choice to send it to the nearest hub and hold for pickup, but I wanted to ask the experts. Thanks.
On my Verizon orders it gives delivery dates, not ship dates. So if it says Nov. 3 you should have it on that day. In my experience ordering iPhones from Verizon, their delivery date has been dead accurate, it has always arrived on that day (but in my case usually very late in the day around 7 pm, apparently a lot of them go out on the trucks on the same day).Okay, so this may sound like a stupid question, but if I ordered a phone through Verizon, is the shipping date entirely accurate?
