Australia got royally shafted. After 2 mins(or less) the very next shipping was 4-5 weeks. I mean how many did we have allocated. Started refreshing App 20 mins prior, literally had Black 256 in cart, selected in store pick up, 9-9:30 time, clicked confirm, App crashed, back on in 10 seconds and 4-5 weeks. SUX. 1st time I have never been able to get the new iPhone on launch day.

Has Australia had the same iPhone launch day as the US in the past? I can't recall with 100% certainty off the top of my head, but I'm thinking they did. What was ordering like in the past for the 6 or 7, a little smoother or about the same? I'm asking because if Australia got iPhones about a month after the US then 4-5 weeks is about the same. A month later. Maybe some instant orders are getting them sooner but in the whole scheme of things, 4-5 isn't horrible. With all the rumors and forum topics here like "What will you do if you don't get your phone until after Christmas?" I was thinking best case for me would be 2-3 weeks and worst case would be the end of year. Based on the limited amount of information I have right now, I'd guess the availability in the US was about the same as it was for the 6 or 7. Order quick to get launch day. Anything more than a couple minute delay could end up costing you.

Pre - order from 08:01 in the UK they said - Lies - couldn’t get on the site until 08:14 - result 4 - 5 weeks. Fuming !

That’s weird, I was thinking this was apples worst preorder experience yet, and I’ve done a lot of them. The Apple store app was a miserable failure for me, and I did their pre-approval etc. App showed store as being down until around 3:15 for me. I’m waiting 3 weeks, so definitely not the end of the world, but the app was a total failure for me.

I had a good experience too. I was killing the app and relaunching it. Maybe that helped get me / others in sooner? I think I got in at 12:03 PDT.

Just consider it the equivalent of Australia’s major banks’ Apple Pay adoption rate.

In any case, we are still much better than the catastrophic rumours. Let's remember the amount of people, here, suggesting a 2018 delivery if you missed the first 5 minutes of preorders...

64GB devices seem to be gone now on CPW, but there are 256GB devices left.

That’s comforting as it seems to suggest the stock indication is live.

Has anyone got a confirmation email after the initial processing?

That surprised me. I thought it would go more slowly than the space gray.

It’s because no more of the ugly white front bezel. My last white phone was 3GS. Now that it has been removed the aesthetics of the white phone are at the apex.

11/3 white 256gb here of course

How is it that so many people can afford the $1800 256gb iPhone X?
You guys must be earning around $200K a year.
Or are you doing what a lot of YouTubers are doing and asking subscribers for money/donations to fund their purchase of the iPhone X?

Man, I wish I had the money to buy the 256gb iPhone X. :(
Maybe I need to set up a YouTube account and get subscribers to fund me or set up a GoFundMe page....

1800?

And no, you don’t need to make 200k/yr to afford 50 a month as long as you have even the most basic sense at managing money.

It's not sold out everywhere. I can get an in store pickup at a bunch of places in NYC for the black 64gb model on November 3rd. Plus bestbuy will have them delivered by November 10th which isn't bad

I was on hold for almost an hour with T-Mobile to preorder my iPhone X. I have a business account so I can’t order online and Apple requires T-Mobile customers to come into the store to enroll in to the iPhone upgrade program. I was seriously thinking I wasn’t going to get my phone next week but got an email confirmation saying I am indeed getting my phone next Friday :)

I agree on Australia, although I did end up getting a 256Gb Silver with a Mid November ship date and a 256Gb Black with a Nov. 28 ship date about 12 minutes into ordering. Had both phones in cart within seconds with a Nov. 3 ship date on both then ApplePay refused to work, which I use all the time. Had to give up on iPhone App and ordered on my wife's iPad with a CC. Oh well, November dates on both so I cannot complain, but frustrating to not get the 3 Nov. ship date.

I fell asleep 5 mins early. Woke up an hour late and sold out on App Store. Dammit. Guess I’ll try 11/3 now. Who knows how long until it’ll ship though.

I'm sitting here enjoying my iPhone 8 Plus without all the stress that those who pre-ordered the iPhone X now have.

Really, I don't see enough reasons to upgrade to the iPhone X, apart from the OLED screen and camera with dual-OIS + front cam with portrait mode. I don't even hate the notch or anything, but in terms of actual features there's just not much of a difference between the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. At least not enough to make me wanna pay an additional €240 (iPhone 8 Plus = €919, iPhone X = €1159) AND the risk that e.g. the OLED screen or Face ID might have issues AND wait for weeks to get it.

I'm holding out on this one. :)

Sprint Flexpay. $41 a month.

Gave in and ordered an X in silver via Carphone warehouse. They still estimate a delivery of Friday 3rd so if anyone in the UK is still looking for one sim free or on a contract you could look there. To make it very slightly less eyewatering expensive there is £50 Quidco available.

So I think I got 2 phones on accident. Do you think it is worth it to sell the other one, or is the demand going to be lower? I could just cancel one of them.

Had probably the best experience yet, and I've pre-ordered almost every iteration on launch night. Was opening/killing/opening the app and refreshing two laptop browsers. The app let me in first right at 3:01 eastern, which was what I was hoping because I had the item saved in my cart (per the nice writeup on Macrumors). All said and done it took 2 minutes for a 256 space gray on AT&T. Sucks to hear people had issues, seems like it happens every year.

I agree, I had same issue with my preapproved order. It was fast when I got on but it took me til 12-15 after the hour and I got the same date as you. Not impressed with the preorder experience either so much for the IUP program doing much for me. Well good news we are not going to wait til Christmas or next year and the dates may improve (they do sometimes). But I am not thrilled with this process and like standing in lines for the original Star Wars pictures and such years ago I have stopped doing that with movies. I may rethink staying in the IUP program it does not avoid much if any of this needless hassle and marketing that gets us all in a feeding frenzy almost as bad as Black Friday sales which I avoid like the plague. This may have soured on doing this again and if I like my X I might just keep for a few years and start buying phones a year after they are out and easy to get ;-)
Agreed. And you know what, I made sure to email Tim Cook about it as well. It’s total crap that the Apple Store App didn’t start functioning until 3:10 EST for me, a full 9 minute after launch started when all I literally had to do was “confirm” my order. Furthermore, it’s pretty bad on Apple that I now have to make another payment for “1 day of use” because of their screw up! I hope to be receiving and email or phone call in the coming week. Apple really needs to get it together!

Got my pre-approval from Citizens One on Monday so I’d be all set. Aaaand, I forgot to stay up until 2am to pre-order. DOH! Guess I’ll be lining up next Friday morning.

Well, I decided to go ahead and order and wait the 5 or 6 weeks. Delivery was 5 to 6 weeks for 256 Space Gray. I checked in store pick up as my option so I wouldn’t have to pack up my 7 and send it back. To my surprise, one local store had pickup available on Nov. 3rd so guess I lucked out after all. I was expecting to line up, but this is much better.

I switzerland we got Fu**ed as well.
I have received the confirmation email at 9h16am so 15 minutes after the preorder official date. the website was not available before 9h10.

Expédition : 4 à 5 semaines
Livraison : 29 Nov. - 5 Déc. de Livraison express

Online orders went 2 - 3 weeks very quickly but I got one to pick up about 10 minutes in.
