How is it that so many people can afford the $1800 256gb iPhone X?
You guys must be earning around $200K a year.
Or are you doing what a lot of YouTubers are doing and asking subscribers for money/donations to fund their purchase of the iPhone X?

Man, I wish I had the money to buy the 256gb iPhone X. :(
Maybe I need to set up a YouTube account and get subscribers to fund me or set up a GoFundMe page....
You have to think about it on a daily basis.

$1800 is about $5 a day. You must be from another country because it was $1149 here which is about $3.15 a day. Plus I'm going to sell my 7+ and get around $500, so it brings it down to $649, or $1.78 a day.

How many people do you know that will spend $2-5 a day on coffee? Pretty much at least 90% of the people I know. I figured I'd much rather have the latest iPhone every year than drink coffee, and when you put it into a daily perspective, the price isn't much different.

So no, you don't need to be making $200k a year. You just need to be able to save a couple bucks each day and not touch it for a year. It really adds up!

Contracting the X in the UK from a carrier hours after the launch still gets you a 3rd Nov delivery. Seems the Carriers got a pretty good haul of the availability

Same except with T-Mobile. People either didn’t think to go to the carriers or they got pretty large allocations. TMo still shows launch day delivery for 64 silver and no config over a one week wait.

This is what the site says but when I called them at 12:01 AM EST - the agent told me that T-Mobile Representatives were instructed to tell their customers that iPhone X's would be delivered in December. Not sure if my agent was misinformed but good thing I was on the Apple Store app simultaneously and got a release day iPhone X.

The big question will be how long the estimates hold at that level. I imagine Apple would be more worried about the total number of units made before the holiday season than launch day. If the ship dates are 5-6 weeks by the end of November, it's going to make a big dent in holiday sales.

I mean to be fair, no one probably wants one on tmobile. lol. But the big 2, im surprised they still had them

Tried to order at 3:01EST. Apple store app wouldn't work for 10 minutes. I was already pre-approved. By the time I got through the pre-order prompts, each requiring several tries, I got a 256 grey on pre-order with a 2-3 week wait. My wife locked out her account for 60 mins because she forgot to update her account zip code, so at 4:35am she had an early December estimate.

The same reason some people can afford to go on a holiday every year.

We each have our own guilty pleasures. I don't smoke. I don't drink. I don't travel. I have a fair bit of disposable income to splurge on stuff like this if it ever came to that.

The site and app did not open for me until 3:04ish. I had two iPad's and a phone trying. I managed to get one of each color, 256, for a 11/10 date.

Do people get a specific delivery date? (Except the november thirds) I got estimated 13-20 nov.

According to outlets in Denmark, the iPhone X is currently outselling the most popular iPhone at its launch (The 7). One claims they are selling 30x times of what they sold at the iPhone 8 launch.

That's a blanket statement, $50 a month is not a lot if money in isolation, but you don't know what other bills people have to pay, rent, car, groceries, power, healthcare... $50 a month is a lot of money for a typical American family of 5 that live on a $50k annual income

iPhone X is a great phone apparently, but affordable it is not!
If you’re a family of 5 with only a 50k income to support that family I think ordering an iPhone is the LEAST of worries.
1800?

And no, you don’t need to make 200k/yr to afford 50 a month as long as you have even the most basic sense at managing money.

Sadly the average American doesn’t have the most basic sense of managing money. Since currently over 50 percent of earners wouldn’t be able to cover a $1000 emergency if needed.

But I’m sure they have a new shiny iPhone X !!

I ordered 4. 256GB space grey for myself and my wife and the others will be going on ebay. I'm kinda annoyed that I got the 2-3 week window (I ordered at 3am eastern), but I'm still super excited. This phone is a game changer for the industry.

I consider myself VERY blessed and lucky. Got right into the Apple Store app while I lay in bed. 3:02a. My favorite was still there, add AppleCare+, checkout. Secured the 256GB Silver iPhone X with a Nov 3 arrival. Had no issues or anything and didn't even wake up my wife!! I'm so excited! Maybe I'll press my luck with the Powerball too haha.

Sprint is for people who are trying to save money, and choose not to spend >$1000 on a cellphone.

If I were buying an X, I sure wouldn't be on Sprint.

That's funny in an all-to-real sad way that no one wants the Sprint phones.

I'm on Sprint. I bought an X. I've had no problems with them, in fact there is excellent coverage where I live. So please speak only for yourself.

Store opened on my iPhone 7 at 12:06. My iPhone X will arrive Nov 3. Store opened two minutes later on my wife's iPhone 7 at 12:08. Her iPhone X is backordered until Nov 27th. Talk about a small window of opportunity!

The $56 includes the $200/year apple care plan in case you lose or break it. I doubt sprint's pay plan has that build in.

I didn't get a specific date, just a range: Nov 17 - Nov 24

Had everything set up on the app before pre-order opened (256/Silver/T-Mobile) so all I had to do was confirm once it was live.

I was up at 2:50 EST and at 3:01 the app was not live. This continued to be the case until 3:15 when I was able to place my order (which took about 20 seconds - two clicks).
During these 14 minutes I forced quit the app several times, switched from WiFi to cellular data just in case. It just seemed it was a case of the app not being live for quite some time after it should have been.

Oh well - my estimated shipping window is Nov 14-24th which is not too bad considering the 14minute wait to order. Maybe they’ll be able to ship it earlier? Who knows. But I did just receive emails from Apple (processing order) and Citizens (loan approved) so its all good.

I'm sure you get good "coverage" from Sprint, but their network speeds are horrible. In my area, Sprint has solid coverage, but try to play a video on youtuble or use the Netflix app on your phone, barely works.
