That’s weird, I was thinking this was apples worst preorder experience yet, and I’ve done a lot of them. The Apple store app was a miserable failure for me, and I did their pre-approval etc. App showed store as being down until around 3:15 for me. I’m waiting 3 weeks, so definitely not the end of the world, but the app was a total failure for me.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Usually it's been that way for me. But this year for whatever reason, it ran smoothly - for me. That's a good way to look at it. 3 weeks isn't the end of the world, but i would definitely feel the same way if I was in your shoes. imagine the people trying to order today or over the weekend. who knows when they will get theirs. Fact is, so many people were waiting for this and the fact that the normal release date was not only pushed back, but they couldn't even fulfill half the initial demand, was a bad job on Apple's part.

Has anyone with the Apple Store "Your iPhone has been reserved." and reservation number, unable carrier system blah blah actually gotten an email yet? I didn't screen capture the res number, figuring it would be emailed to me too. I got nothing.
Same for me..... I did get a reservation number but still waiting for Apple to contact carrier,Im betting the wait window continues to grow. :)

If I order the Verizon version from Best Buy, does anyone know if they will refund the extra $100 by refunding a local Apple store?? how difficult would it be?

Store opened on my iPhone 7 at 12:06. My iPhone X will arrive Nov 3. Store opened two minutes later on my wife's iPhone 7 at 12:08. Her iPhone X is backordered until Nov 27th. Talk about a small window of opportunity!
Yeah that’s how it happened with me and my husband. Though my order said November 17-24. It’s not for me, just a backup order in case something got screwed up on my husband’s order. I was half asleep so I may as well been drunk the way I was mashing buttons. I’m so tired today. My Pixel 2is supposed to arrive today and I’m excited about that but so zzzzzz.

I had promised my wife we would get her a new phone, she still has an iPhone 5, but we looked at the price and decided last night it just wasn’t worth that much to us. Since it has a lot of untried features and only a 90 day support/1year hardware warranty you are really gambling if you don’t buy Apple Care or something similar, and that pushes the phone price close to $1500.00

Not sure what, if anything, we will decide to get. Probably will wait until early next year and reevaluate.

Wife scored hers for launch. My upgrade program order wouldn't complete or the Apple store app just wasn't seeing the store up so at 2:05a I was already in the 2-3 week camp. Jealous husband alert haha.

The big question will be how long the estimates hold at that level. I imagine Apple would be more worried about the total number of units made before the holiday season than launch day. If the ship dates are 5-6 weeks by the end of November, it's going to make a big dent in holiday sales.

It will be 8 weeks within 24hrs. :apple:

My credit card declined using Apple Pay (fraud protection), but I got a confirmation email from Apple. I called the CC company and they lifted the block, but told me to have the merchant re-process the transaction. Will they try to re-run the charge when shipping or did this pre-order essentially not go through at all?

This has happened to me before. They kept my place in line and just re-ran the transaction. Should not be an issue.

I fully understand your concerns. Once upon a time I would have bought the latest and greatest iPhone but my usage needs wouldn’t justify the price of the X Older generations are more than capable for my needs. I appreciate everyone is different.

Let's put this in a little perspective... last year when I ordered my Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus 128gb at about 12:08am PST on 9/9/16 my delivery window had already slipped to 10/10/17 - 10/17/17.

Just sayin'...

5-6 weeks. I was so excited about pre-ordering that I drank too much and didn't wake up until 3 hours after pre-ordering began. ;(

I'll occasionally pop in to the local ATT and Best Buy during that time (no Apple Store in my area) and maybe I'll get lucky and find one earlier.

I think 4 to 5 weeks after an hour is very good, was expecting much worse. I managed to get on Apple's website a minute after the preorder time and have got a November 3rd receive date. Either there was more stock than rumored or the iPhone X wasn't as popular as expected. I put my money on the first option. All this fear and it looks like there really was enough time to get one if you really wanted one release day.

One hour to go to 5 weeks delayed? That's not a 'lot' of stock. Remember that a fair bit of people who would normally be on this upgrade cycle already upgraded to the 8/8 Plus, so there is less demand naturally than on most iPhone releases, and they still ran out extremely quickly. Also, a lot of people find the $999 price just not worth it. They'll sell a ton, no doubt, but it's still going to be less than the 7/7Plus, I'd imagine. This will be supply constrained for a WHILE. Even the 6 didn't have this long of a delay after so short a time.

Basically, if you didn't get up at 3AM-Midnight (depending on time zone), you aren't getting one until mid-December at the very earliest. That's not huge supply.

I got a "reservation number." I have no idea of that means I'll get a phone early or not.

Does anyone know how Apple's reservation system works?

Did you get an answer on this? I got the same thing. Says they weren't able to reach the carrier systems... and gives a reservation number. Got a confirmation email with the same thing but no contact on when I get a phone.

I got one (SpaceGray/256) for store pick up on 11/3 and my son's phone (Silver/256)did not take until 6-8 after and he got 11/14-11/24 delivery date. It's interesting that the TMO phones had the delivery option and not just store pick up. That was a welcome surprise. No idea why TMO should be different from other carriers since you can easily change your phone info from the web site.

This seriously should be prohibited and especially the first quote met with high fines... apparently people have no morals.

It’s a free market. He’s not holding anyone at gunpoint to buy it above retail price. I don’t see why it should be prohibited or be met with a hefty fine.

Not that I’m endorsing such acts.

Ticks me off my local Apple store had Verizon phones available for nov 3 pickup until just a bit ago but had to see the dreaded ‘enter your Verizon account info’ screen. Wish all the carriers would make ordering a full price phone easy like t-mobile

Waited at least 10 minutes for the app to finally start working, and then when it did, I got a bunch of errors. By time it finally worked, my space gray 64GB model through the Upgrade Program was pushed back to the 11/17-11/24 delivery window. Now I’m waiting for some sign that the order actually worked. So far, I have a screenshot of the order number, but still no sign of a confirmation email or anything in my order history an hour later.
Same here. The email came through about two hours later.

Ordered mine (256GB Space Grey) this morning, surprisingly smooth (Confirmation eMail at 8:03 UK time).

And right now: Its already switched to 'Preparing for Dispatch'! No cancelation possible anymore, money booked from my account.
That was way faster than expected, or how did it go the last years?
