I've had Sprint for years now and haven't had a problem. If the T-Mobile merger happens then it will be even better.
Most of time I'd agree that there are no issues. There times, though, when signal is weak and I'm not around wifi. Data gets slow.

They're better than six years ago, but I would go to Verizon in an instant if I was willing to spend more a month in cellphone service.

6 of the 11 stores near me still have 256 GB black available for pickup on launch day. Another 2 still have 256 GB available in silver.

As someone holding onto $AAPL, this is incredibly bad. Demand is so low it's looking like you'll be able to just walk into a store to get a phone, no preorder or queueing necessary, on launch day.

holy moly, that was quick

Just received my new status via the App: "Preparing for Shipment''

ordered 09.07AM local time (Netherlands)
SpaceGray 64Gb
paid via CC
no carrier

never seen my pre order go so fast haha

I’d say 5-6 weeks really isn’t that bad compared to what many had thought. I figured that it would be 3-4 months by now with all the hype about every one buying this phone.

I'm on Sprint. I bought an X. I've had no problems with them, in fact there is excellent coverage where I live. So please speak only for yourself.
Please accept my condolences.

Heh, no, that's great for you. My point is exactly what those Verizon commercials are selling: premium phone should be on a premium network.

Ordered mine (256GB Space Grey) this morning, surprisingly smooth (Confirmation eMail at 8:03 UK time).

And right now: Its already switched to 'Preparing for Dispatch'! No cancelation possible anymore, money booked from my account.
That was way faster than expected, or how did it go the last years?

Mine too - confirmed 8:04 UK time

got 2 silver 256k from Verizon. Thank you Verizon, Apple.com was a mess just like last year.

This seriously should be prohibited and especially the first quote met with high fines... apparently people have no morals.

Everyone hates scalpers, but its the height of hypocrisy to pull the morality card.

It's a £1k luxury item put together by people that earn peanuts in a country where vast swathes of the population live at or below the poverty line (and I mean real you might die from lack of food/water/shelter/the ***** poverty).

So I wonder, if there was a immorality pyramid, who would sit at the top:

1) The guy that scalps a few iPhones to get ahead in the game.
2) Everyone thats ahead in the game simply by virtue of geography of birth and don't give a second thought to dropping £1k on said phone, then moan guy (1) is an immoral **** because they have to wait a few weeks.

Those that live in glass houses should be wary of throwing their old iPhone in moral outrage :D

seems I was not able to just order an 'unlocked' one. I could only proceed by 'verifying' an existing account with one of the big 4 carriers, which I don't have. Was there any possible way of just ... buying an unlocked iPhone X without being beholden to the major carriers, and perhaps I just missed it?

It’s a free market. He’s not holding anyone at gunpoint to buy it above retail price. I don’t see why it should be prohibited or be met with a hefty fine.

Not that I’m endorsing such acts.

Well, yeah...but if it's obvious that demand surpasses supply, I really think pre-order options per person should be limited. It's done elsewhere. And I encourage every company to vigorously try to work against the black markt, it's for example done with concert tickets...

But, well, I still don't get how people can get so crazy over a phone that they're almost willing to sell their grandma for it. Seriously, people need to relax and maybe check their priorities. If people can't even wait a few weeks and MUST have it on day one, they seriously have issues.

I got into the online store via my iPhone Apple Store App as soon as I could, which was around 12:04 or 12:05am and snagged two 256GB models. But deliver was estimated at Nov 17-24 right away. I ordered the T-Mobile versions. They didn't require an existing cell phone account. I noticed no SIM-free options available when I went in. I do not have an account with any of them. My account is through a T-Mobile reseller and I BYOD. Glad I at least got November delivery. Maybe I'll be surprised and get it early.

App didn’t work until about 3:12 (eastern) for me. 256 Black is what I wanted, was already at 2-3 weeks. But local store had available for pickup, so I picked that. Then tried to get my wife a 256 white and had the “cannot contact carrier” message, so I just went back to bed. Woke up at 5:30 to change the baby and I fired up the AT&T app (wasn’t working at 3:00, would just keep queuing me longer) and they still had 256 white for launch deliver. Perfect. So mine I have to pick up, hers will be delivered.

I'm telling you apple made all of their in store inventory available to pick ups. Most people who pre-order want to be tethered to their house so instore pick up is not an option for them. The people who wait in line will get the remaining phones.

Apple also had way more phones available than the experts said. That's why Apple felt confident saying they could handle people coming to the Apple Store.

I ordered T-Mobile phones, it didn't ask me for any account info at all. I tried Verizon at first but ran into your wall as well.

This was all a response to wall street complaints that there were no more lines at stores. Tim was like ok sure we can fix that here sprinkle some X all over the stores and boom instant line waits and here goes the stock price up up and up and away. We are simply pawns in a game between Tim and Wall Street in this fight. Angela was right just let them order them in advance lines are the enemy.
And now, I am split between ordering online or waiting outside the store and hope they have one in there because CitizensOne messed up and my pre-order got cancelled...meaning I woke up at 02:45 for nothing but stress!

Verizon let me preorder about 7 minutes before it was up on the Apple store. Got a 256GB Space Gray with an expected delivery of the 3rd!

We are coming up to christmas time, that one day whenever everyone feels they have to give one particularly special gift. The iphone x may be this years tickle-me-elmo. We've been led to believe it'll be hard for apple to fulfill orders for weeks or maybe months, so getting one sooner, even if you pay more, is on some peoples' agenda.

I don't particular agree with the overcommercialization of holidays in general, but I think xmas is a factor here too.

So the iphone upgrade plan "pre approval" definitely hurt my chances of getting the phone on launch day, I should have not even done it. I was able to select, add to my card, verify with my carrier, and almost check out the website on my phone through safari. But ended up waiting 10 minutes or so to order through the apple store app, and go through the process on that. It did not let me order the upgrade through the browser.

Also picked delivery (because it had the same Nov 3rd date as in store) but by the time I got my confirmation email (nearly 2 hours later) i got a 4 week delivery time table. The whole order experience was really bad.

Anyone else have a bad experience with the apple upgrade program?

Except that Ticket Me Elmo wasn't $1300.

I had a similar experience. I started trying at 3:01 eastern and kept getting the "try later" message in the Apple Store app. So I thought, "why not try the website?" At about 3:10 the website started responding, so I tried to place the order there. When I put in my Apple ID, it told me "please complete your purchase in the Apple Store app".... Grrr.. About 3:17 I finally was able to get the Apple Store app to load. My estimated delivery was 2-3 weeks. So, doing all the pre-approval stuff didn't seem to help that much. That being said, if Apple's servers were hosed, I bet the servers doing approvals of credit were worse, so I still probably came out ahead. I'm just disappointed that it took 15 minutes of trying for me to get the Apple Store app to even respond. Should not have gotten up in the middle of the night.

If I am feeling like braving the lines on Nov 3, would I be able to cancel the pre-order yet still have my purchase be part of the IUP?
