Also doesn’t help when Apple purposely either slows production to holds shipments to falsely increase demand

Which Apple doesn’t do. This argument is dumb every time it’s uttered. At this point everyone knows long shipping delays mean there’s not a lot of supply. Delay is 5-6 weeks now. How many people are going to see that and say screw it and not order anything? Or order an 8 instead? Or worse go Android?

This may be the final straw for me. As much as I hate Android I can’t keep supporting this company’s repeated incompetence in both services and products. Especially when I’m paying a premium for their incompetence. And I use windows on my game machine and it’s really not that bad and maybe I can enjoy getting a machine that is actually powerful and modern and not just pretty.
Like we haven't heard this declaration numerous times before. This will go one of two ways. You'll be a man of your word and you'll go use Android and hate your life. Don't let the door hit you on the way out if you do. Or, you'll whine to anyone who will listen until you get your iPhone X in a few weeks and then you won't even remember this happened until next year when you're gonna be doing it all over again.

Is it like every year or there is much delay?

All of my previous phone pre-orders went in at 12:12 and I got first day delivery. This time I got 2-3 weeks, and now the wait is 5-6 weeks. Worst delivery times I have ever seen for a standard phone. Some special color phones did have long waits in the past.

I don't get this argument either. What does Apple have to gain by delaying production?

Shipping times are likely to get longer over the course of the next few hours as pre-orders continue to trickle in.

Trickle in??

Apple may be experiencing the biggest stream of pre-orders for any iPhone, ever. And your considered opinion is that the day's remaining pre-orders can most accurately be described as a "trickle"?

Is the editorial team at MR now run by Samsung's PR agency?

Slap of reality. Well done.

Thanks for replying. Have you had this happen to you before then? Do you know when they will retry and if it affects shipping estimate, as my order number said delivery Nov3!

Just a heads up that the same thing happened to me way back when I ordered the 5. Called my bank and they said they'd lifted the block but I might have to verify with Apple. The order still went through without any worries. As long as the process is still the same, I'm sure you'll be okay. Fingers cross!

Not comparable, the Pods are much cheaper than a new iPhone X. Of course they'll go for more on eBay, but the suggestion of 2-2.5x i believe is a little off. I can't see people paying £2000+ for the £999 base iPhone X.

I just had a look at ebay. Already there are a lot sold. Mainly around the £1,500 mark, but I've seen one at £2,500. Auctions are pushing towards £1,500

Looking at it gave me a few seconds regret that I didn't put 2 in my bag, but to be honest I don't want to get involved in that.

If your still wanting to find one and not wait 5-6 weeks, it looks like Best Buy is still promising a 11/10 pickup for most models from all carriers.

Yes but about $1600 on average. It seems like there are more people selling their preorders on ebay this year than in year's past.

I'm one of them. ordered 2, selling 1. Hoping to help offset the phone's cost.

Oh... here we go with the legendary myth again.Apple is on a a business to make money by selling stuff and not pretending they are selling stuff. And seriously, who on this planet have £1000 to waste on whatever product out there is on high demand? Is like saying, lets see whats on high demand today? Oh...iPhone X is. No problem, I will get 2. When people spend that much money they generally got it planed/decided well before

I decided to use the Apple store app and had my wife in the US ordering hers and me in Europe on business. Wouldn’t load until about 12:20 for both of us. She ended up with an email saying that one is reserved, but they couldn’t reach her provider (ATT). I got error after error at each stage and ended up with 4 to 5 weeks despite trying to order immediately.

I don’t know when my wife’s will arrive since we have to wait for a separate email to complete her order. Maybe she can get hers on the 3rd.

If Tim Cook is such a supply chain wizard, why has he screwed up the final step in the chain so bad every year. I know it’s hard, but this is BS. When someone goes to all the trouble to try to order as soon as possible and can’t do it, you have failed. Limited supply is one thing, failing systems and processes is another.

I have to agree in part with some of this. I'm a graphic designer, (16 years + now) and so Apple has been part of my life for a long time. iPad, iPhone, Magic Mouse, iMac, MacPro, MacBook, Apple Watch, Apple TV - i've had them all in various editions over the years... and slowly i've become disillusioned with how things are going. in my experience (i can't speak for others) customer service has dropped, the number of bugs I've experienced has risen, faults have risen.

of course, I have no experience of other brands, so others might be on the same par.

I've always hated Android in comparison to iOS, but recently i've found myself considering a galaxy S8 for the second time. My current iPhone 7 with the new OS is buggy as hell. The worst OS initial release for my experience. I've ordered the x and I will do a comparison with the S8 before deciding which way to turn. But with my entire professional life integrated into Apple so many devices it would be a hard change to make. But one I keep giving more and more consideration to.

Which isnt that much. 1149 for 256gb plus tax is approx 1250. Then you have to take into account ebay fees of, what, 100+? Youre maybe gonna profit 200 and have to deal with possibly having someone claim it doesnt work/scam you

You make it sound like an elite club that he's no longer welcome in. The guy is entitled to express his own discontent. It's his experience he's entitled to comment on. Your experience may be different. Doesn't make either opinion invalid. Everybody's experience is different. What does it matter whether he changes brand or not, it's up to him. Either way it doesn't warrant such an unfriendly comment from you.

About 1/3 of the Apple stores in Los Angeles County still have Verizon iPhones and other carrier models for pickup on Nov. 3. Was this the same situation last year?

It slipped drastically because of you MR! You shared the secrets of how to order it fast using it app. Lol
Except it didn't work - the app kept showing the placeholder updating page for nearly 10 minutes after the website allowed you in. That's with killing and restarting the app. So the website was way faster this year

Did anyone else get "Your iPhone upgrade is Pending" message on the Apple Store App? I haven't got an email yet regarding the reservation to pickup at Apple Store on Nov. 3

Yes I did the Apple upgrade via app and was able to select a 256 gray for pickup on Nov 3. I picked my time and completed order. Haven’t received a confirmation email yet and it doesn’t show up on my order history.

When I go to start the process again, it says my upgrade is pending. I ordered a few minutes after midnight.

Same situation here. I pre-approved the upgrade earlier in the week and was forced to order through the app. I wasn't allowed in until well after others not in the upgrade program. 10-15 minutes after the hour. After several errors occurring in the app I was able to complete the order with Nov 17-24 ship date.
There is no order showing in the store, only an Order Is Pending status under the upgrade program. No confirmation email.
It seems that being in the upgrade program was a big disadvantage. I contacted Apple via chat and they could not confirm that I even had an order. Will try again when store support opens in a couple of hours. They should already be open on a such a heavy day.
