Tim Cook, Operations Expert.

Apple is providing the following guidance for its fiscal 2017 fourth quarter:
  • revenue between $49 billion and $52 billion
  • gross margin between 37.5 percent and 38 percent
  • operating expenses between $6.7 billion and $6.8 billion
  • other income/(expense) of $500 million
  • tax rate of 25.5 percent
I'm thinking he's more of an expert than anyone in the peanut gallery.

Thats what I figured, I agree they have had issues but I am sure production has started already.
The way iphone production works, you don't really start up the line unless you have all the parts for X,000 units in the building. They make these incredibly fast.. there's probably five minutes of actual touch time tops per iPhone. But you don't really make 1/2 of an iPhone and set it in a shelf for a week because special cameras didn't ship on time.

They'll get the crew up at 5am when the last part needed come in and shoot 5k -10k thru until they run out of parts then stop and ship what they got after extensive QA on the troublesome parts. When the big shipment finally arrives, they'll have crews trained and step up to high gear.

Well this sucks. I've never received a new iPhone beyond the launch date. I'm going to review my plans for preorder night, do some research about how to make my plan more efficient, and implement the improvements. And no, I'm not telling any of you my secrets, lol. This is every man for himself!!

I know there would be times like these :| Every event is the same after the fact, so its a constant spiral that never ends...

yup agreed

some consumers think a good business is the one that gives them what they want rather than one that makes boatloads of money and profits

This ^ I personally can't wait for the wireless charging and upgraded camera. Friday can't come soon enough! Also I can't wait to see ios 11 on this new phone. I am avoiding the update on my 7+.
Why don’t you try it. Doesn’t slow it down one bit

For the people hellbent on getting the X. How long are you willing to allow a back order before you just give up and just wait for X(s)? January? February? March? Is it worth it to have a phone for only 6 months before it’s outdated?

They should have skipped releasing the 8/8+ so they can put all of their efforts into the X. A lot of people seemed to skip the iPhone 8 and are waiting on the X.
Not sure how much the 8 really affected. And what if did not put on anything. Stock market not like that.

Looks like Apple very late getting final design done. How so ? Sure Apple planning for years to have some sort of X edition. They were not starting from scratch. Starting to wonder how refined the X will be.

Well after reading this I'm glad I ordered my 8+ to tide me over till the X comes out... Well played Tim ,well played .. got me for two phones this way.. Please take all my money my kids don't need new shoes anytime soon..

Supply chain checks? Why should I believe some Wall Street analyst and their so-called supply chain checks? Which Apple suppliers (that want to remain Apple suppliers) would blab to Wall Street analysts?

Because they have anonymous sources. With all of Apple's production in China, it's not hard for them to befriend or bribe an insider for information.

I've dealt with production issues with every iPhone I've had since the 5S and I've always gotten my phone on or around launch day. Gold 5s, 6 Plus, Jet Black iPhone all on time. Come on November. Can't wait for my iPhone 10 to arrive

It would be quite hilarious if the delays cause them to miss the holiday window.

Finally, my T-Mobile JOD is getting some good use out of it! My 8 Plus is coming on Friday to tide me over, and then I'm jumping up to the X when available. That being said, I still really want one on launch day.

What a mess. Most valuable company in the world can't produce their #1 selling product. I wish their shares would tank so we could get rid of Tim Cook.
That is the worst advice ever. If Tim Cook can’t handle it what makes you think people who’ve never been able to handle it could?

Apple WAS providing guidance like this 2 months ago. However, they have a legal obligation to update if it is materially different. They will have published the outcome by the time pre orders start so we will know for sure.
