This will for sure affect their bottom line in some fiscal quarter or another. Anyone who generally upgrades every 2 years, will now be waiting an extra 4 months or longer possibly, meaning their subsequent upgrade may be delayed as well.
Apple saw what worked with Nintendo's NES Classic and Switch. I'm sure they are taking a page form them. Set a limit on what they want to sell and then artificially create a shortage on the device so it can sell like hot cakes.
Are you unaware how dumb this line of thinking is?
I'm skeptical of this report. If Apple wasn't sure it would have ample supply at least so the first 30 minutes of pre-orders could get release day, why not just say "Fall 2017?" Hard dates indicate some confidence that they can at least get more than 5 of these out the door on 11/3.
They have a shortage of OLED. If they did this they literally would be able to produce only a few million units. Probably no one would be able to get their hands on oneThey should have skipped releasing the 8/8+ so they can put all of their efforts into the X. A lot of people seemed to skip the iPhone 8 and are waiting on the X.
We need Tim to comment on this story about severe shortages, but he will probably be too busy writing his speech on another social issue.

You don't think Apple has entirely separate TEAMS for each product? Putting twice as many people on the "X Team" won't make it materialize faster. It doesn't work that way. They should have skipped releasing the 8/8+ so they can put all of their efforts into the X. A lot of people seemed to skip the iPhone 8 and are waiting on the X.
You mean the poor souls at Foxconn?
its the best iphone yet

Very observant, they are not 8.0 nor 8.0+ ... just simply 8 and 8+.The 8/8+ was a pointless release.
It should be obvious to anyone, but this isn’t about logistics, it’s about engineering and manufacturing.Tim Cook, Operations Expert.

For everyone who has some gripe about the iPhone X, in any way...don’t order it.
You’re welcome. I just saved you $1000.
yup agreed
some consumers think a good business is the one that gives them what they want rather than one that makes boatloads of money and profits
