The frustration and wait time on the X is going to be too crazy for me. So my new iPhone comes Friday (8/black). Aside from looking exactly like a 6/6s/7, it is a solid internal update. To each his own. I would have liked an X but the timing and price drove me away.
Might as well wait for the a polished up second generation.
Oh well of course, but "that" was not going to happen, they needed something new for the 10th anniversary, and exactly, the iPhone X seems like a beta product.
As a recent Android switcher (every iPhone to date) I can confirm that the opinion above is somewhat outdated, it's working beautifully for me and not that much pain as I've been moving away from the woefully out of date cloud services from Apple for a while.

And according to my apple reps I saw today, it's not a notch, it's "camera housing " and we should embrace it
I'm using this. A user on a local forum in Australia calls it a design flaw, and has been bitching about it for the last week.
As for getting one early, that's going to be a task and a half it seems. Ordering through a Telco, so there's the first hurdle before worrying about stock levels. If I miss out it's no big deal, the longer I wait, the lower my payout will be on my current plan. My 7+ will do me for another year until the next release if I have no luck with X before about March next year.
At this point, you minus well wait for the iPhone X2 if you won't even get your phone until next year, and they move back to the more traditional september release.
Easy there, I'm not so trilled about the iPhone X, and only getting an iPhone 8 Plus because it's almost the same price as the iPhone 7 Plus, but go to Samsung?? Nooooooooooooo way.
Look at it as an early 10th iPhone birthday present.
I think they thought the 8 was lackluster for the big reveal, and pushed the X up well before it's ready. Apple can't really release the 8 then in six months release the X.. they'd have mass rebellion on their hands. The 8 really isn't revolutionary enough for a 10th year of iPhones either.
I guess this just confirms that iPhone X is this years Apple "unobtainium". Add that this is a "production stressed" model and it's probably best to hold off. I do think NEXT year the 6-8 model and everything less than A11 will drop off the radar. But THIS year hang onto your 7 or just wait a year. Next year will certainly be iPhone XI, Y, or whatever, but it will certainly have a new model because the A-Series CPU lineup is in full gear for something big.
And if the production problems are accurate will apple be a hot flaming disaster, as well.
Definitely. Most people who want a X won't get one until next year. Seeing a X this year will be almost like seeing a unicorn.
I fear the same thing, and by then the next model is only 6 months away and they're on top of the yield issues by then too. It's a very small gap between devices when shelling out nearly 2k for a phone ($1870 australian). A complete mess.
Yeah good luck with that lol. That’s total bs. You most likely went to a authorized retailer and they signed you up just to lock you in. By the time they call you when their store opens, it’ll be way back ordered. I’d go back and tell them not to waste your time.
Just get an 8 plus people. They’re making me sick with the games. I’m sure they’re having a tough time, but they know what they’re doing.
The 8 is an amazing phone. Will have slightly better battery life. Plus if you upgrade now, your upgrade will be synced up with any yearly programs and you can save all the features for the 10s and be even more shocked cause by the time everyone has a X, it’ll be time to upgrade in 6-8 months again.
Your missing a screen, animojis, and a depth effect on the front cam (which won’t be nearly as good on the front until the 2nd iteration anyways).
