Totally confused here. Every two-year iPhone update has been a major redesign/update (form factor, features, etc.) I personally think this has to be some type of component shortage. Unless the device is actually half-baked, which would be 100% on Apple.

And I don’t understand either scenario considering the time Apple has had to work all this out. With the lack of design change from iPhone 6 to 8, there’s obviously something wrong if they can’t get a new design out in a timely fashion.

AND... the X redesign and features are not enough to justify the price, no matter what the wealthy people around here say. It’s a new iPhone. It has a different shape. Different features. Different size. This is normal for brand new iPhones. I believe Apple has lost its way, regardless of whether or not this phone is a hit.

Thanks for your time.

There is no chance in hell this report is accurate. It is as reliable as the one a month or so back that said Apple was still deciding between TouchID or not. These things are put into motion wayyyyyyyyyyy in advance.

People waiting several months for the iPhone xi if the iPhone x gets delayed until next year, what makes you think the iPhone xi will arrive in time, as it looks now, the iPhone xi may not be ready either and may arrive by early to mid 2019.

But, but, but....I thought Tim Cook said Apple had a pipeline full of products?

It's the most magical, revolutionary and thinnest of all product pipelines ever invented. I am kidding. I think Cook is much better than he gets credit for.

A few weeks (21 days) at 10,000 units a day would only have 210,000 units right now... and a grand total of 650,000 units by November 3.
That's simply not enough.
[...]
But let's say Apple can ramp up to 50,000 units a day. At that rate... it will take 20 days to make a million units.

And do you know how long it will take to sell a million units? Waaay less than 20 days.

This is gonna be a disaster.

iPhone X will be a great Valentine's Day gift (February 2018)... or graduation gift (June 2018) :p
they can make way more than 50k / day..
at full production, you could expect at least 10x that amount.

i mean, let's give a lower estimate of Apple selling 50,000,000 iPhone X in a year...

50,000,000 ÷ 365(days) = 137,000 units needing to be made per day in order to reach that mark..

50k units per day = only 18,250,000 iPhone X for the year..

that would be one of the largest financial blunders ever..

-----
idk, i think us general forum readers should take these analyst&predictor numbers lightly.. very lightly..

10,000 units a day? lol

The X is 200 dollars more than the 8 plus (which is only 30 dollars more than the 7 plus, so there was a slight price bump between those two generations).

In essence, it's a price bump, but I'm not ready to say that 800 vs 1000 is a drastic difference. Do I think that a 100-dollar increase would have been better received? Sure.

I don't know if I have the cajones to try. Lol

Might as well. You can cancel the order if you're wrong and it turns out they have plenty on hand, but if you get in first in the queue and those things sell out in a few minutes you will definitely make a hefty profit.

If those gold iPhone 5s models were going for double the price back in 2014, I think you're safe with double the price on an anniversary phone.

And, to be fair, they never gave an exact date for those until they knew they could deliver them.

Exactly!

I think that people are failing to understand the significance of saying that a product will be in stores on an exact date.
I know that product delays do happen, but if production hadn't even started yet, the most Apple would have said is "coming soon" or "this fall/winter". Saying November 3rd means that Apple has run scenarios and all of the remotely likely ones indicate that they can ship by that date. In fact, if they're smart, that would be a conservative deadline.

Samsung has had wireless charging since waaaay before april 2017.....try 2015 or earlier

Oh, I know, but the post listed it as April 2017, so I was just playing along. LOL.

My husband has an iPhone with a Qi charger in his case. Voila. Wireless charging. :D

Meanwhile you keep paying your monthly Apple lease on your aging iPhone as the clock keeps ticking away.

Nah... it's only a month from the regular launch day and people always have the option of moving to the 8/8 plus. I daresay if this scenario was true and people had to wait MONTHS to get new iPhones, you'd see some sort of concession in the Apple upgrade program to account for a very long delay.

I might even buy a gift card so my order goes through faster at 3AM eastern time. All I want is that people who wake up early to preorder this gets this on day one, the rest of the people who don't want it as bad as I do, I really don't care. :p

You don't understand demand for iPhones. The bulk of iPhones are sold in the first quarter of the year after their release. Few new iPhones are sold in the last quarter of the year because everyone is waiting for the new version.

If they're going to sell 50 million iPhone Xs, they need to be able to produce ~25 million of them by December. They need to be producing over 750,000 iPhone Xs per day.

If they are currently producing no iPhone Xs per day or even 10,000 iPhone Xs per day, there is going to be 1 iPhone X for every 75 people that want to buy one.

Apple is on schedule for the most disastrous launch of an Apple product ever.

My question is why is it more expensive at all. The 3g to the 4 was a huge upgrade, inside and out. A radically new, high-end design with exponentially better materials, Retina display, better camera, etc. No price increase. These phones are not maturing enough compared to the past to justify the higher prices. JMO.

Of course they can ship November 3. Don't doubt that. Just not very many compared to normal launches.

If you want the X and feel you can't get it due to delays. Just curious why you are willing to settle as opposed to wait or just get neither since you can't get what you want.

Exactly! Plus, if they’re experiencing delays making THIS phone, what makes you all think they’re gonna suddenly start producing an iPhone X Plus or whatever in Fall of 2018? They might not be able to start on that phone until 2019.

Sure, yet the delays still keep getting longer for iPhone x :)

It hasn't had a single delay yet. The only release date Apple has ever stated is November 3rd, and as far as any of us actually know that is still the release date.
